Strictly Support Group – A Magical Recap

Last night, we waved our magic wands and made dreams come true (no, we didn’t get to dance with Pasha!) We entered the magical realm of Strictly Come Dancing and hosted a magic themed chat.

If you looked at our blog yesterday, you’d have probably seen our Strictly Fix of the Day was our Dynamic Professional Dancers performing in the ballroom with the equally Dynamic Dynamo, so we thought we’d continue the theme into our chat last night.

We began by asking you this question:

We had lots of fantastic answers from you. Here are some of our favourites:

We have to agree with your suggestions and think these people would make an awesome set of playing cards!

For the next question of the evening, we asked you this:

Again, you excelled yourselves and if this were Hogwarts, you’d pass your O.W.L.S with flying colours. Here were some of the best answers of the night:

It was a short but sweet chat, however our magic wands ran out of their magical powers, so couldn’t continue (boo!) If you missed our chat or have any other suggestions, just tweet us @scd_support or comment in the box below to let us know your magic moments and strictly house of card design. We look forward to hearing from you.

We’ll be back tomorrow evening from 8pm with a Strictly Support Group. Hope you can join us then.

Throwback Thursday – Taking a step back in time

In just a few more weeks’ time, Strictly will come back onto our screens. We are super excited and cannot wait to watch the show and see our new celebrities and their professional partners take to the floor.

We cannot believe how quickly the last 7 months have gone. It only feels like yesterday that I had an upset three year old who couldn’t quite understand why there was no Strictly on a Saturday and we set up this group! Said three year old is now four and it seems even harder to believe that this week’s throwback Thursday took place one year ago. Today’s dance is the first time our Class of 2013 set foot on the ballroom floor together.

We’re not sure how they all fitted on the floor without colliding with one another and we were really impressed by this dance. Watching the celebrities dancing with pros who they didn’t partner (on the whole) also added a new dynamic to the dance.

Watching some of the celebrities take their first tentative steps in this dance, it shows the progress they made was remarkable. Some of the less natural dancers still managed to perform with ease and they all looked like they were having an a-maz-ing time.

This dance really cheered us up this morning, reminding us that Strictly is not too far away now. We hope you’ll enjoy watching it. Here are our professional dancers and the class of 2013, taking to the floor together for the first time.

We’d love to hear what you thought of that dance. Tweet us @scd_support or comment in the box below. We look forward to hearing from you.

Wednesday Warm-Up – Some Dancing Magic to Amaze and Inspire

When I asked my 4 year old (the biggest Strictly fan in our house) what she loves about Strictly, her answer was that it’s magical and the girls become princesses and the boys princes!

One dance was truly magical on the last series and was extremely creative too. It made us smile and seemed the perfect dance to cure your hump day blues. It was the professional group routine to “do your thing” featuring Dynamo! Although we didn’t really understand the trick, we loved the dancing with mix of swing, charleston and quickstep styles. We hope you will too. Here it is just for you, our professional dancers dancing dynamically with Dynamo. We hope you enjoy it

We’ll be here from 7pm tonight with a magic card themed chat and quiz. Follow us on twitter @scd_support to take part.

Tango Tuesday – Let the Battle of the Argentine Tangos Commence

For today’s Tuesday Tango fix, we took you all the way back to 2009 to watch the amazing Argentine Tango from Ricky Whittle and Natalie Lowe.

This dance was sizzling with passion, smoking with sex appeal and scintillating with some beautiful choreography which wowed and amazed us. The traditional music created atmosphere and mood and Natalie’s dress was to die for. The whole performance was so good it achieved 49 out of 50 (it was the week there were 5 judges.) which is simply amazing. We loved it and hope you will too. Here it is just for you:

After watching this dance, it got us thinking. In a Dance Duel between this performance and Mark Ramprakash and Karen Hardy’s Argentine Tango, who would win? There’s only one way to decide (I feel a little like a female Harry Hill with thicker hair saying this) and that’s with a Dance Duel. Just watch both dances and then vote in the poll below. We’ll reveal the winner tomorrow on our Twitter feed.

Strictly Support Group – Keeping Little Strictly-Mad Monsters Occupied This Summer

It’s hard work keeping little ones occupied during the Summer Holidays, especially when they’re Strictly Mad. So far, we’ve explored apps and dance classes, but today we’re putting our Blue Peter skills to the test (we won a Blue Peter Badge in 1993!) and attempting this fab-u-lous make from @wmlinge on Twitter!

It is a great way to spend time with the little ones and keep them busy. They can also reenact their favourite strictly moments right up until Christmas and even beyond!

If you’ve tried to make this, tweet us your pics @scd_support as we’d love to see them. We’d love to see any other strictly makes you’ve attempted. Tweet us your pics and we may just add them to this blog post.

Thank you to @wmlinge for posting this video. It’s a-maz-ing and we’ll award you a 10/10!

Monday Memories – Forget Your Troubles and Get Happy!

We all know the feeling, the alarm sounding at 7am signalling the end of a weekend which has gone too quickly, a 4yr old coming for snuggles just because she can and realising that it’s Monday, the start of a new week and time for a fresh start. It’s time to smile and think positive.

This morning we woke up with a spring in our step and feeling super super happy. It might have been because we were treated to breakfast in bed, but it could have also been because we watched this dance featuring the very dashing Mr Kovalev.

Today, we’re forgetting our troubles with a smile watching Kimberley and Pasha’s gorgeous Quickstep. We loved this dance not just because it featured Pasha but also because the choreography, dancing and music were sophisticated, glamourous and elegant. Kimberley’s outfit oozed 1950s Hollywood glamour, and Pasha definitely had specs appeal, although we still think the best specs wearer on Strictly is Kevin From Grimsby (sorry Pasha!)

For a week three dance this was super light, quick and gorgeous. Len named Kimberley Nimble Kimble, and it’s easy to see why. Her footwork was accurate, her frame perfect and the whole dance was amazing. Pasha choreographs the best Quicksteps, so we can’t wait to see what he has up his sleeves this year.

If you woke up today feeling a little glum, we recommend watching this dance, it’s guaranteed to make even the grumpiest of people smile…

… Well almost. We’re pretty sure you’ll love it (unless your name is Grumpy Cat!) Here it is just for you, Kimberley and Pasha’s quickstep. We hope you enjoy it:

Have a wonderful day!

Smooth Sunday – Mistakes can happen, but it’s how you recover from them that’s more important!

It goes without saying that when you live in a house with a 4 year old, mistakes do happen. Last night, Kevin the Kangaroo and Karen the Koala (pictured below) had a slight accident and went for a swim in the bath.

20140727-091019-33019447.jpg

Luckily, they’re ok now, thanks to some time hanging out on the washing line, but mummy’s quick reactions and recovery made sure they were safe and happy again. Phew!

For today’s Smooth Sunday, we’re rewatching a brilliant American Smooth from Patrick Robinson and Anya Garnis. The wardrobe malfunction at the end was recovered professionally and the dancing and performance throughout we’re sheer brilliance. Anya’s choreography was ambitious and complimented the music and Patrick’s strengths perfectly. They oozed elegance, sophistication and style throughout the dance.

We all know that on live TV anything can happen and have seen lots of mistakes in the past but this dance proved that although mistakes happen you can fix them with a smile on your face and a great performance.

Here it is, just for you Patrick and Anya’s American Smooth

We’d love to hear what you thought of that dance. Tweet us @scd_support or comment in the box below. We look forward to hearing from you.

Strictly Support Group – We’re giving it our all to write this recap of last night’s chat

Yesterday was not just National Dance Day but it was also All or Nothing or Seize the Day Day so we thought what better way to celebrate these two occasions than by hosting a themed Strictly Support Group chat! We overcame our jet lag and gave it our all to read your amazing answers.

All or nothing day is a day to celebrate times when people have given it their all, thrown caution to the wind and taken the bull by the horns (paso stylee!) We began the chat by asking which couple did you think gave their all most on Strictly? Here are some of our favourite answers:

We agreed completely with all your answers. These couples have all engaged us and shown their true love of dance through sheer hard work, passion and beautiful dancing. I think they all deserve a round of applause for just being amazing and inspirational! πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒπŸ’ƒ

We then moved on to asking you if there was one performance or dance style you’d seen on strictly where a couple had given their all the most. Here are your answers:

We love making dreams come true, so for the final part of our evening we turned a little creative and asked you this:

It was raining tens hallelujah as you gave some amazing suggestions. Here are our favourites:

And that ended our chat. We want to thank you all for being amazing! We loved your answers and as ever you make running this page a sheer joy. If you missed our chat last night don’t worry, you can still tweet us your answers @scd_support or comment in the box below. We look forward to hearing from you.

Now I’m off to practise my paso face, stamp my heels and waft my skirt but we’ll be back on Wednesday night from 7pm for a quiz. Hope you can join us then.

Salsa Saturday – A Dance That the Andrex Puppy would be proud of! 🐢

I’m back from the U S of A and am recovering from Jet Lag making the most of the gorgeous sunshine today spending time with my lovely family.

For me, nothing sums up summer better than a gorgeous Salsa. We have to thank the wonderful show that is Strictly for giving us that summer vibe in Winter treating us to this Cuban delight and ray of sunshine when it’s dreary.

When my 4 year old first saw this dance she referred to it as the “andrex puppy dance!” She was referring to the part in the middle where the professional’s dress unravelled to reveal a bikini! We’re watching Harry and Aliona’s superhot Salsa. We’re not sure if the andrex puppy can dance (after all he does have 2 left paws!) but we’re pretty sure if he could, he’d incorporate this into his routine somehow. 🐢

Although the music wasn’t traditional Salsa music and would have better suited a Jive or Quickstep, we felt this dance was beautifully choreographed and really played to Harry’s strengths. His unbuttoned shirt definitely earned him a few more votes in our household! 😍 The lifts and tricks were great and really added to the flavour of the dance. It was like a Cuban Carnival full of spice and sizzle had hit Wembley Arena. We loved it and hope you will too. Here it is, just for you Harry and Aliona’s sumptuous, superhot salsa (arriba!)

We’d love to hear what you thought of this dance. Tweet us @scd_support or comment in the box below. We look forward to hearing from you.

Don’t forget! Tonight at 6.30pm, I’ll be hosting a Carpe Diem day chat on twitter. Follow us @scd_support to join in the fun!

Cassie 😊
