Throwback Thursday – There ain’t no mountain high enough for this dance.

It’s International Mountain Day (no, we’re not making it up, it really exists) today. We’re unsure if there are mountains on Strictly, but are pretty sure if there were they’d be snowcapped and covered in glitter and sequins.

We’ve trawled the Strictly archives, and found this amazing dance from 2010. It was this couple’s first dance, and they proved that there ain’t no mountain high enough by setting the standard for Series 8 of the competition.

Today we’re watching Matt Baker and Aliona Vilani’s Cha-Cha to “ain’t no mountain high enough.” There are moments on Strictly that truly surprise us, and this was one of them. Matt came out of his shell on the first live show and really performed (even throwing in a cartwheel.) We loved the staging and the choreography. They proved their wouldn’t be a mountain too high for them going all the way to the final. The dancing and music were great and this couple showed they were true contenders.

Here, just for you are Aliona and Matt with their Cha-Cha-Cha. We hope you enjoy it:

We’d love to hear what you thought of that dance. Tweet us @scd_support or comment in the box below. If you’re on facebook, you can like and comment on our Facebook page “Strictly Support Group.” We look forward to hearing from you.
