Monday Memory – A weather warning on behalf of the Strictly Support Group!

Ladies and Gentlemen, we apologise if this morning you got a little soaked. Today we’ve been experiencing some very strange weather happenings over the UK, and we feel that today’s Monday Memory may be responsible.

Yes, earlier this morning, we showed you Pasha and Kimberley’s Cha-Tango from 2012. This fusion dance was uh-may-zing and scored her first perfect 40 (and 10s) of the series.

It was dramatic, cheeky, and fun routine which not only the judges liked, but we loved it at home, not just because it featured Pasha!

We loved it and hope you will too. Here are Pasha and Kimberly with their Cha-Tango. We hope you enjoy it:

We’re off now, to do the school run with an umbrella (need to watch out for those raining men!) but we’d love to hear what you thought of that routine. Tweet us @scd_support or comment below. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Bello! It’s time for our Minion-Themed Strictly Support Group!

If minions were on Strictly, we’re pretty sure they’d eat bananas just like these

For tonight’s Strictly Support Group, in honour of the latest movie to open in Cinemas, Minions, we launched a Minion-themed chat.

For our first question we asked you this: We know some of our professionals love minions and minions love bananas. Which strictly person do you think would be most at home on planet minion and why? Here are our favourite answers:

It’d seem that Joanne, Kevin and Janette would be most at home with the minions! We then asked you this: Minions love dancing as much as we love Strictly. Which dance style would the Minions be best at and why? We had some fab-u-lous answers from you all. Here are our favourites:

We’re pretty sure the minions would score 10s all-round dancing these routines. For our next set of questions, we considered the characteristics of the different minions and asked you these questions:

We then asked, If you were to see a minion on Strictly, which minion would you like to see on the show and who you pair him with? We had some great suggestions, but have to say that Jo and Bob would be an amazing pairing!

We then moved on to ask, Which performance on strictly, do you think the minions would vote as being “top banana?” We had this suggestion from one of our followers:

My lovely 5 yr old voted this dance (because it’s yellow and minions like yellow!)

Which routine do you think the minions would be proudest of and why? Send us your suggestions to let us know.

Finally, we asked you this. In a minion dance battle who would win, Kevin from Grimsby or Kevin the minion? The results were unanimous. Kevin from Grimsby would even beat the minions at dancing.

That ended our chat. We have to say we think this:

We’re back on Tuesday from 8pm for our weekly quiz. We hope you can join us then. If you missed our chat, don’t panic like these guys:

You can still take part by tweeting @scd_support or commenting below. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Take Your Dog To Work Day – A Strictly Support Group Take On Events!

They say, never work with children or animals! Having worked with children, we know it’s not that bad. We’ve never worked with animals before, but imagine it’d be relaxing and filled with hugs.

Today is take your dog to work day. Or in Anton’s case, deal with two petrified dalmatians live on national TV! Yes, our furry canine companions have made appearances on Strictly too.

Over the last 12 series, we have seen 3 canine companions (Toto, Perdita and Perdy) play an integral part in performances.

We’d love to find out from you which canine companion deserved the golden bone and which one was in the dog house. Watch the videos below, then vote for your favourite in the poll. We’ll reveal the winner at 7.30pm tonight!

Get voting people (and canine companions!)

Seven Days With James and Ola Jordan – A Review

Over the last year, James Jordan has become a bit like Marmite. You either love him, or you hate him. Some of his opinionated tweets have made some Strictly Fans cringe and scroll through his tweets as quickly as they can whilst checking their twitter feeds. We love Marmite as much as we love anything Strictly-related so sat to watch Seven Days with James and Ola in suspense!

“I like Marmite, but will I like James and Ola?”
So, what was our verdict of the show? Well, surprisingly, we loved it!
We definitely saw a softer side to James who said “I don’t just love Ola because she’s gorgeous on the outside, but she’s a beautiful person inside! (sic)” *sound of heart melting* Later on in the show, whilst they were both at the gym we saw Ola say that James is caring and always tells her to be careful Baby! It was clear to see that there is a lot of love between these two and they care for eachother so much!

There were comedy moments too, including watching James being attacked by his nieces and nephews on a giant bouncy castle! We heard how they were desparate for children and feel they’ll make fun parents. James’ bedtime discipline/bribery would work perfectly with my little lady who suddenly turned all Supernanny, telling me “Mummy and Daddy, he needs to do what you do and tell them bedtime stories!”

We learnt that James left Strictly because it had turned into something he didn’t like anymore. After all the tweets last year, we think there may be some truth in this, but are still a little dubious of the editing. *puts on detective hat to investigate.*

We also saw Ola take her first dance steps with James since her accident and be given the all clear for Strictly and a future touring show they are planning with Arlene Phillips. Watching the pair of them dance, we saw magic that we missed on last year’s Strictly. Yes, Pasha and Ola made a great partnership, but James and Ola are such a talented couple and their dancing together is 100% natural.

Overall, we really enjoyed this show and would love to see some of our other Strictly Pros do a Seven Days With Style show. We’d love to hear what you thought of the show. Let us know by commenting below or tweeting @scd_support.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Strictly Support Group does Sports Day!

This afternoon we’re spending the afternoon at the most competitive of all school events! The yearly School Sports Day!

We’ll be taking part and cheering on from the sidelines, just like we do at home, when Strictly is on our screens.

It got us thinking. If Strictly were a Sports Day race what would it be and which performance would win the most medals at a Sports Day? We’re pretty sure that Quickstep, Jives and Showdances would win the most medals at Sports Day.

We’ve created some fun polls. Just vote below to let us know and we’ll reveal the winners at 7pm tonight.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Monday Memory – Game, Set and Match! A Dance We’ve Fallen in LOVE With!

Today is the start of Wimbledon! For the next two weeks we’ll be gorging ourselves on Strawberries and cream as well as hosting our Wimbledon-Themed Strictly Support Group (without wombles!)

For today’s dance, we’re watching a tennis themed dance and practising our backhand flying a kite πŸ˜• with Judy Murray and Anton Du Beke and their Viennese Waltz from Blackpool.

Although Judy wasn’t the strongest contestant on Strictly 2014, she really entertained us and this dance, as her best dance was entertaining, beautiful, light and elegant (just like flying a kite should be!) Judy’s dress was beautiful (we want one!) and the music, well, who doesn’t love Mary Poppins?

We loved it and would definitely give it at least 1 game point (not LOVE.) Here are Judy and Anton with their twirling, fab-u-lous Viennese Waltz:

We’d love to hear what you thought of that dance. Would you award it Love, 15, 30, 40 or Game, Set and Match? Tweet us @scd_support or comment below to let us know.

We’re off to enjoy some strawberries and cream, but will be back later to launch our Summer Giveaway!

Smooth Sunday – A Lovely Dance To Sooth You This Sunday!

We have to admit that in the run up to Father’s Day us mums and daughters are always running around like headless chickens, so today’s dance is the perfect antidote for those of you needing a calming influence this Sunday.

We’re watching the lovely, elegant American Smooth from Sunetra Sarker and Brendan Cole. This dance was performed during movies week and for us evoked all the hollywood glamour of the 1940’s. It was classy, elegant and just the sort of dance that made us feel all warm and fuzzy inside. It showed Sunetra’s progress and the performance was wonderful. In our opinion it deserved 9s and 10s!

It’s the perfect antidote for anyone in need of some chill-out time, so, if you’re feeling a little on edge, or like a headless chicken, we recommend watching this dance.

Here are Sunetra and Brendan with their fab-u-lous American Smooth. We hope you enjoy watching it to:

We’d love to hear what you thought of that dance. Tweet us @scd_support or comment below to let us know what you thought of it.

For all the dads we wish you a Happy Father’s Day and we hope the rest of you all have a wonderful Sunday Afternoon.

Strictly Support Group Does Father’s Day and Summertime!

Tomorrow is Father’s day and time to treat our wonderful dads for being there for us all the time. It’s also the start of Summertime, so despite the weather which Mr Revel-Horwood would definitely describe as Dull, Dull, Dull, we hosted a joint Father’s Day and Summertime chat earlier this evening.

We started by asking who is the father figure on Strictly for you and why? You gave some great suggestions. Here were the two favourites and your comments

For our next question, we asked you lots of celebrity dads have appeared on Strictly in the past, but which dad on Strictly would you be proudest of and why? We received this wonderful suggestion:

We then asked which celebrity dad would you like to see on Strictly 2015 and why? We had some great suggestions from you all. Here are our favourites:

All these suggestions sounded fab-u-lous. We moved on the conversation to ask if you could give your dad a strictly surprise what would it be and why? We had some truly lovely and heart-warming suggestions, just like these:

We then let the sunshine for our Summertime chat, well sort of! For our next question we asked you to let us know the moments that reminded you most of summer. You gave some great suggestions. We’ve made them into a special Playlist for you:

Keep your suggestions coming for Summertime tunes and we’ll add them to the list.

The sun is supposed to shine all summer long, so for our next question we asked who is your little miss sunshine and why. We had two fab-u-lous suggestions:

For our final question, we asked this:

Summertime is traditionally a time when we have lots of news about Strictly. What predictions do you make for Strictly 2015? You gave us some great suggestions. If these things happen it’ll make for a fab-u-lous series:

That ended tonight’s chat! We hope you enjoyed it. If you didn’t get the chance to take part, just tweet us @scd_support or comment below. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
