Things to do this Summer: Strictlified Dance Camp!

Every week this summer, we’ll be talking about Strictlified Activities to enjoy during the holidays. This week, it’s the turn of Dance Camp. Today, I bravely let go of my dance-obsessed daughter’s hand and let her take part in a Dance Camp.

As a mum, the words Summer Camp will naturally fill you with dread. The thought of your little ones spending a whole day (if not longer) without you can seem scary to even the least anxious parents, me included!

I was quickly converted to the idea when my lovely 5 yr old brought a sparkly and glittery leaflet home from school about a Dance Camp taking place during the Summer holidays. I was sold! Admittedly, if she could have forged my signature, I’m pretty sure she’d have signed herself up for it there and then.

Today was the day I waved my little princess off to her first day at Dance Camp. “No tears!” were her words to me as she skipped and twirled into the dance studio! It was clear to see she was going to love it!

After a full-on day when I finally collected the biggest Strictly fan in my household I was greeted by the biggest smile ever from a child covered in face paint (who I hardly recognised) with pink hair! It’s clear to say she loved it and on the way home and for next 3 hours I heard how she’d learnt to Jive, how it was lots of fun and how she was going to eat her greens (I’ll hold her to that!) to become a super fast Jive dancer. In fact, she told me “It was just like the real Strictly! I’d give it a 10.”

It’d seem my doubts and fears were completely wrong. Even though the next dance camp is next Friday, she asked “mummy, can I go back to dance camp tomorrow?”

So Dance Camp gets 10/10. If you’re taking part in a Strictlified Activity this Summer, we’d love to hear from you. To have the chance to take over our blog, just tweet @scd_support or comment below. We look forward to hearing from you.

Strictly Overheards

Strictly is officially coming! *Squeals and jumps up and down!* With pro rehearsals due to start on Monday, Strictly fever is well and truly hitting the nation. In fact, we’ve even overheard some Strictly related conversations like this:

We have to agree, we understand this fellow commuter’s predicament completely! We think this person definitely has their priorities right! It’d seem you lovely people did too. Here are some of the fab-u-lous tweets we received this morning, when we shared this with you:

Oops! Sorry Phil!

We’d like to know any strictly overheards you’ve overheard! Comment below or tweet @scd_support with your suggestions below. We look forward to hearing from you. Don’t forget, Strictly is coming!

Strictly Come Dancing Pro Poll 2015

Love this!

The mighty mighty Monk Seal

The 5th iteration, and big changes are afoot. Inspired by Sophie Ellis-Bextor doing the improbable and up-ending Kara Tointon from her position as Strictly’s Queen Of Summer (Polling), I’ve looked at the annual Pro Poll and decided to make a major change to how it works. Now, like all big changes to grand intitutions, there’s a chance this alteration may alienate and confuse you at first, but I think if we work together we can make this an exciting and novel way of evaluating our ever-growing crop of dance professionals moving forwards (backwards, sideways, in heels, occasionally up towards the ceiling for a bit, or whatever). So if you’re ready, press the button, and find out more.

Strictly Support Group – Fashion Chat!

Costumes make up some of our favourite parts of Strictly Come Dancing, so for tonight’s weekly chat, we decided to host a chat “Strictly” about fashion for you all.

One of our favourite costumes of all time!
For our first question, we asked you what is your favourite ever Strictly costume? Here are some of our favourite answers:

We then moved on our chat to ask you who you thought were the fashion king and queen on Strictly. We had 4 fab-u-lous suggestions from you all. We’re pretty sure these guys could be models on a catwalk on planet Strictly.

For our next question, we asked this: In 2013, Abbey Clancy and Julien MacDonald famously took to the floor. Which model/fashion designer would you like to see on Strictly 2015? You gave some truly uh-may-zing suggestions. Here are our favourite answers:

Lots of you then suggested Patrick *googles him to see who he is and starts drooling.* We definitely think he’d be one for us ladies and would love to see him on Strictly 2015.

For our next question, we then asked if you could design a Strictly costume what would it look like? We had some uh-may-zing ideas, like these dances:

We then decided to ask which dances were most like a catwalk? You gave some great suggestions, which we’ve compiled into a playlist. Here are our favourites. If you haven’t told us your suggestions, let us know so we can add them to this playlist:

For our final question, we then asked who you thought was a “model student” on Strictly! We had some fab-u-lous suggestions like this:

but have to agree that this chap did an amazing job:

That ended tonight’s chat. If you didn’t get the chance to take part, just tweet us @scd_support or comment below with the answers to our questions. We’ll be back on Tuesday from 8pm for our weekly quiz. We hope you can join us then.

Strictly Support Group – We’re Off To The Chapel To Get Married πŸ’πŸ‘°πŸ»πŸ’πŸŽ©πŸ’’πŸ’πŸ‘«

Wedding season is upon us and love is in the air! THE wedding of the year happened last week as Karen and Kevin got married and became Mr and Mrs Kevin and Karen from Grimsby Clifton! Tonight in honour of last week’s romantic events, we went off to the chapel & hosted a wedding-themed Strictly Support Group! We waltzed into tonight’s chat a little like this:

We started off our chat by asking you this: Choosing the perfect wedding outfit takes months of preparation and searching. If you were given the chance to wear one costume from Strictly, which costume would you choose? We were spoilt for choice with some wonderful suggestions. Here are our favourites:

After we dreamed about wearing some of our favourite Strictly costumes, we then thought of the guestlist. We wanted to know which Strictly people would be on your dream wedding guestlist? You gave some amazing suggestions. Here are our favourites:

For our 3rd question of the night, we asked this: As a wedding gift, you are given the chance to learn a dance from 2 of our pros. Which pros would you want to have a dance lesson with and which dance style would you like to learn?

We loved your answers so much, so for our fourth question we asked which strictly performance would you recreate for your first dance? We had some truly beautiful suggestions. Here are our favourites:

We loved your suggestions so much, we made you all a dream first dance playlist. Here it is, just for you wonderful people:

When we asked who you thought was the most romantic person on Strictly, this young man came out as being the most romantic. Watching this video, it’s easy to see why *passes tissues to anyone prone to crying*

For our final question, we asked you to name your ideal destination for a strictlified honeymoon. Here were some of your brilliant suggestions *packs up her suitcase ready to go on her hollibobs*

*imagines rumbas, rum and rum babas*

On that thought we ended tonight’s chat. Thank you to all who took part tonight. We hope you enjoyed it. We’re back on Tuesday from 8pm for our School Reunion quiz. If you didn’t get the chance to take part in the chat tonight, don’t fear! You can still take part by tweeting @scd_support or commenting below. We look forward to hearing from you.

Strictly Support Group – The Yearbook 2014/15

School’s out for summer! It’s the end of another school year, so for a little fun tonight, I decided to go back to school and host a yearbook awards for the Strictly Come Dancing class of 2014/15.

When I was at School I was awarded the “most likely to do something dangerous for charity!” award. That didn’t happen, however I felt the need to make a yearbook for this year’s class of Strictly Come Dancing! Here are the results:

We think your answers were truly fab-u-lous. All our winners deserve a sparkly glitterball as do you for all being fab-u-lous. If you didn’t get the chance to take part in these awards last night, let us know who your winners would be. Tweet us @scd_support or comment below to let us know. We look forward to hearing from you.
