Strictly 2015 – It Takes Two – Show 3 Recap

On tonight’s It Takes Two, Zoe was joined by Ian Waite, Kevin and Kellie, Jamelia and Tristan and Peter and Janette.

We learnt that Ian is Zoe’s brother from another mother and her Fairy Dance Godfather (there when she needs him!)

We also had gifts galore. As it was Ola’s birthday she was given a pair of sparkly shorts and Kevin was given a set of wooden spoons for him and Karen.

Kellie and Kevin joined Zoe on the sofa first. Must say we loved the matching glasses! We learnt:

1) She was glad to get her dance out of the way and be first on Strictly 2015. She feels that Strictly is a dream come true and feels very lucky to be a part of it.

2) Kevin is now a seasoned pro! Makes it sound like he’s had a sprinkling of salt and pepper on him!

3) Matt Di Angelo has been giving Kellie tips.

4) She’s dancing the cha cha cha this week and has been listening to the music all the time and driving her husband mad.

We then got to know Gleb Savchenko a little better (it’s not how it sounds!) We learnt that he:

1) started dancing aged 7

2) loves dancing the waltz, charleston and hip hop!

Now, the part we’ve all waited for for 9 months, Ian Waite’s Wednesday Warm-Up. We learnt that:

He is very impressed with the standard this year and week 1’s routines.

We saw Gleb and Anita’s Charleston practice which looks amazing. He loves the great spins in the dance.

He also showed us Helen and Aljaz’s Cha Cha Cha. He loves her legs and but she needs to settle into her hips.

He said Ainsley suits the Salsa perfectly as he has great natural rhythm, but he needs to do something about his hands.

Anthony needs to stand up and Iwan needs to work on his feet.

He also showed us Peter and Janette’s Quickstep training which looks light, frothy and brilliant. He feels that Kellie and Kevin‘s cha cha looks great but she needs to keep her legs together in her checks. He also said that Kirsty and Brendan need to keep rhythmical and fast throughout their Salsa. He said that Jamelia and Tristan’s Cha cha looks good but she needs to turn her feet out.

Zoe was then joined by Jamelia and Tristan on the sofa. We learnt that :

1) Jamelia loved everything about Strictly but hated being judged.
2) She is Little Miss Giggles and laughed her way through the performance on Saturday.

3) She was gutted with her score at first but agrees with what the judges said watching her routine back.

4) She’s dancing the cha cha cha this week and is working hard on her footwork.

Peter and Janette then joined Zoe in the studio. We learnt:

1) He was petrified and having heart palpitations throughout the show but when he got on the dancefloor he felt alive.

2) It was the first time Peter had ever worn high-waisted trousers. He thinks Simon Cowell has been watching the show for years.

3) Peter says sorry a lot in training. Sorry guys!

4) They’re dancing the quickstep this week. He’s finding it scary, but needs to remember his footwork, elbows and posture.

That ended tonight’s show!

Strictly 2015 – Our Panel of Experts (@philkidz @trishnabharadia @annakennedy1) give their verdict on the first dances!

You may remember last week, we spoke about our favourite first dances ever on Strictly!

This week we’ve decided to share with you our panel of experts’ favourite first dances and their favourite routines of Week 1, Strictly 2015!

Here’s what they had to say:

Phil Barnett

My favourite first dance on Strictly was Heather & Ian Waite on the People’s Strictly! Having got to know Heather I saw a remarkable transformation deep inside her when she did her dance on TV and to see her look so radiant was a very moving experience that will stay with me for a long time!

My favourite week 1 dance of Strictly 2015 would have to be Janette & Peter’s Cha Cha Cha but I’m biased! So apart from that it would be Giovanni and Georgia May’s Jive!

Trishna Bharadia

My favourite first dance on Strictly was the Jive I performed with Aljaz on the People’s Strictly. For me and Aljaz to be the first ever couple to dance on the People’s Strictly dancefloor was such an honour, so exciting and will always hold a very special place in my heart! There’s just no other first dance that I COULD possibly choose!?

My favourite week 1 dance of Strictly 2015 was Helen and Aljaz’s Waltz. I’m not being biased but it was what fairy tales are made of! For a Latin girl like me to say their favourite dance of the week was a Waltz goes to show just how dreamy it was!

Anna Kennedy

My favourite first dance on Strictly is Jake Wood’s Salsa. Everyone was surprised to see Mr Snake Hips!

My favourite week 1 dance of Strictly 2015. As much as I loved the Micheal Jacksonesque Peter Andre sparkly routine I think the vulnerable fragility of The Wanted boy Jay McGuiness was great. He could be a dark horse!

Thank you Phil, Trishna and Anna for taking part in this for us. We’ll have regular recaps from our experts throughout the series.

Strictly 2015 – It Takes Two Show 2 Recap

Tonight’s show opened with a game of pass the glitterball (a game we want to play at our next Strictly themed party!) Zoe was joined in the studio by Georgia and Giovanni, Anthony and Oti and Jay and Aliona as well as the lovely Karen Hardy!

Georgia and Giovanni were first to join Zoe on the sofa. We learnt that:

 1) Georgia got a tweet from Meghan Trainor saying she loved their dance to her song.

2) Their Jive was fast enough but the music was made even faster when they got to the studio! Speedy Gonzalez eat your heart out!

3) From now on Giovanni is known as #sonofsimone- Benvenuto al mundo de Strictly dolce patata!

4) Giovanni says Georgia is a good all-rounder and is even better at Ballroom than she is at Latin. They’re dancing the Waltz this week.

5) We learnt that they use Boxing gloves in the training room – wonder if they’ll try this on Anthony and Craig if he gives them low scores.

We also got a sneak-peek from Sherlock Jolmes (aka Joanne from Grimsby) at the group pro-dance rehearsals. This week it’s all about the girls! Karen is wind, Oti is love and Janette can fly! It sounds amazing!

Anthony and Oti then joined Zoe on the sparkly sofa! We learnt:

1) Anthony was concerned by his trouser-splitting Jive but Oti calmed him down.

2) Anthony calls Oti the boss and he makes her cry with laughter during rehearsals.

3) He listens and takes orders well, but his memory fails him.

4) They’re doing  the waltz this week. Anthony feels like he has 4 legs.

We were then introduced to a new feature Tunes on Tuesday! They’ve even given Zoe a Jukebox with magical powers. Couples appear as holograms beside the jukebox! We learnt that:

Iwan and Ola are dancing Cha Cha Cha to Sexy and I know it. We foresee lots of bum wiggling!
Jeremy and Karen are dancing the American Smooth to Happy together.

and Ainsley and Natalie are dancing Salsa to Don’t you touch my tomatoes.

Karen’s Choreography Corner
had its second instalment on the show. We learnt that:

She was impressed by Jay and Aliona as he took command. He is her lollipop and the dark horse

She felt that Kirsty and Brendan have a  great frame and once she calms her nerves.

She felt the judges were very mean to Jeremy and Karen. He was loving the routine and giving his all! She also praised Karen’s choreography!

Georgia and Giovanni performed an incredible jive and their energy increased as the dance went on. She can spin very fast (faster than a washing machine!) but needs control. She thinks they are a great partnership

She said that Ainsley and Natalie had lots of emotion and passion, but as a result he was cuddling Natalie like a teddybear!

Katie and Anton – Anton is going to have to keep up with her for a long time to come.

She said that Iwan and Ola need to work on his technique but he has lots of enthusiasm.

For Jamelia and Tristan she felt she has great poise and posture, but needs to make sure she knows her steps and choreography!

Karen fell in love with Peter and Janette due to his great hip action and Janette’s great choreography.

Jay and Aliona then joined Zoe on the sofa. We learnt:
1) Jay made his mum cry and he felt embarrassed getitng so close to Aliona with his mum near him (aww!)

2) Aliona feels her curse of leaving early may have been broken with Jay. He picks up choreography well and is very touch on himself.

3) He is a caveman and walks like a caveman.

4) This week they’re doing the waltz – he really likes it when they’re in time and enjoys the feeling of it! Aliona’s got bruises from trying to move Jay as he’s a lot heavier than her and his hair may surprise us.

That ended tonight’s It Takes Two.

Strictly 2015 – It Takes Two – Show 1 Recap

It’s finally back! The most sparkly sister show to Strictly Come Dancing ever samba’d back onto our screens tonight. To say we’re excited would be the understatement of the year, decade, century! Here’s what we learnt tonight:

1) We learnt that Zoe Ball has been sat waiting for the last 9 months in her glittery studio counting down the sleeps until It Takes Two is back, Glad we’re not alone! Must say we loved Zoe’s jacket. It was fab-u-lous.

2) We also learnt the Glitterball has been “temporarily borrowed” by Zoe and the team and boy does it look shiny, sparkly and glittery.

Jeremy and Karen then joined Zoe on the sofa.

1) We learnt that Jeremy Vine is a very fast mover (moving from Eggheads to It Takes Two in a couple of minutes. He was also too nervous to watch his first dance back and does a very good Karen impression. *Imagines Jeremy and Kevin going head to head for King of Impressions crown*

2) We learnt the judges loved his and Karen’s performance, even if the scores didn’t reflect it.
3)  Karen and Jeremy are dancing American Smooth this weekend and he’ll be in tails!

7) We saw a backstage video showing that everyone was nervous. Kellie’s reaction to performing first on Strictly 2015 was classic (hoping she didn’t give herself concussion

Ainsley and Natalie then tangoed over to the sofa. We learnt that

1) He was terrified of the Tango, but we loved his Tango Face.

2) We learnt they are the most adorable couple ever and are dancing the salsa this week – a dance he should be brilliant at (as he can shimmy and has great hip action.)

3) We learnt they had a painful incident with a microphone pack hitting Ainsley’s manhood.

Karen Hardy then came back and gave her verdict on the couples’ performances this week. She was also given an adorable bib for her bubba (my 9 month old suffered her first case of wardrobe envy too.)

We learnt that she thought:

1) Kellie and Kevin’s routine was challenging, fast and had lots of changes in tempo which she handled brilliantly.

2) Anthony and Oti will go far. He’s a sportsman and has great footwork.

3) Helen and Aljaz – had gorgeous choreography, confidence and performed great turns

4) Carol was left alone too much, got lost and needs more guidance from Pasha

5) Daniel and Kristina had great footwork and as we all know footwork is the foundation of movement.

6) Anita shows great promise and can choreograph her arms already!

Iwan and Ola then joined Zoe in the It Takes Two hub. We heard that:

1) He was under-rehearsed for his Tango

2) He’s embraced the strictly madness and loves a fake tan. Ladies form an orderly queue to spray tan Iwan.

3) They’re dancing the cha-cha this week and we must point out Ola’s dress looked gorgeous.

That ended tonight’s It Takes two.

Radio Times Festival – A Sparkly Day Out!

This weekend, we ventured over to Hampton Court for the first ever Radio Times festival.

We had several reasons to be happy:

Reason number 1: The sun was shining

Reason number 2: There were lots of strictlified things going on

and Reason number 3: We had tickets to go along.

From the moment we arrived, we knew we were going to have a fab-u-lous time. We saw the next champion of Strictly (even if he’s not competing on this year’s show!) and are confident that the quickstep will most definitely be his dance.

There was even a judging booth, in which my 5 year old cruelly  turned all Craig Revel-Horwood on me, scoring me a 2 for my dance efforts!
There were plenty of Strictlified activities to take part in. We were unable to attend the earlier activities, but from what we saw they were truly fab-u-lous:

We were fortunate enough to attend the Life After Strictly chat hosted by the very funny and lovely Alex Jones and featuring Russell Grant, Deborah Meaden and Robin Windsor as panellists.

We learnt that there is no life after Strictly frrom Alex, but also that life is just a little sparklier. We also heard how Strictly is life-changing and saw how these legends in the ballroom truly embraced Strictly.

We also learnt that the strictly matchmaking team are geniuses and that Robin never leaves the house without a can of spraytan!

We even heard that Russell used to babysit Claudia when she was younger & she’s not changed since she was 4!

It was a great chat and we were even treated to some dancing from Alex and Robin and Russell. To end the chat we got to sing Happy Birthday to Russell’s mum who was in the audience!

All in all, we had a fab-u-lous day and would recommend this festival for any Strictly or TV fan in general! As well as the Strictly events, my 5 year old got to make Shaun the Sheep (who she now wants to see perform on next year’s Strictly!)  We would give it a #strictly10.

I’ll leave you with a quote from my lovely 5 year old who had the most amazing time there:

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» *walking past the VIP area* Mummy, what does vip (V.I.P) mean?

πŸ‘©πŸ» It means very important person!

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» You say I’m important now. I must need to eat more greens to get bigger and be very important!

Strictly 2015 – Week 1 seen from the eyes of Bella (aged 5 and a half!)

My 5 year old Bella is the biggest Strictly fan in my house and watched Strictly week 1 with the biggest smile on her face. It’s safe to say she loved it! I decided to interview her earlier to find out what she thought of the weekend’s performances.

πŸ‘©πŸ» Me – So Bella, what did you think of Friday night’s show?

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» Bella – It was very late, but I stayed awake during it mummy and it was fabulous, even if Craig was very grumpy. I think his mummy needs to teach him that if he doesn’t have anything nice to say he shouldn’t say anything at all!

πŸ‘©πŸ» Me – Well said Bella. Kevin and Kellie kicked off the show with their Tango. What did you think of that dance?

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» Bella – I loved it. The Tango is really hard to dance and you need to look grumpy all the time. They were really fast too. I also like Kellie, because she doesn’t like celery! It tastes horrible. I think Craig got his 6 and 9 paddle mixed up, because a 6 looks like a 9. I think they deserved a 9/10 for that performance.

πŸ‘©πŸ» Me – Thank you Bella. Anthony and Oti then Jived across the Strictly Ballroom. What did you think of that?

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» Bella – I liked it, but I think he needs to ask his mummy to buy him bigger trousers as he tore them this week. He confuses me too, because he thinks he’s a tree but he doesn’t have any leaves. They looked like bunny rabbits hopping around and  having lots of fun on Strictly and it was very good. I’d give them an 8/10.

πŸ‘©πŸ» Me – I agree with you Bella. What did you think of Helen and Aljaz’s Waltz?

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» Bella – It was magical and she looked like a princess. She said she was like a duck, but she doesn’t have any feathers. I think she deserves a 10/10 as it was brilliant. I can’t wait to see her dance next week.

πŸ‘©πŸ» Me – I agree with you Bella. What did you think of Carol and Pasha’s Cha Cha Cha?

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» Bella – I liked her dress a lot. I think she was very very nervous. I want to give her a cuddle as I think that’ll help. Craig was really mean only giving her a 2, she deserved at least a 5.

πŸ‘©πŸ» Me – He was very harsh. What did you think of Daniel and Kristina‘s Waltz?

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» Bella – I really liked it mummy. I don’t know who he is, but he reminds me of a teddybear and I like dancing with my teddybear! I’m voting for him next week I think.

πŸ‘©πŸ» Me – He was adorable. How about Anita and Gleb’s Cha Cha Cha?

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» Bella – You went funny watching this mummy, I don’t know what happened but you said I could buy a pony! (I don’t remember this but I was a little distracted!) I liked their performance, it was a lot of fun to watch. I’d give them a 9/10!

πŸ‘©πŸ» Me – So on Saturday night we saw 9 couples perform. What did you think of Jay and Aliona’s Cha Cha Cha?

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» Bella – He confused me. They said he came out of his shell. He must have been a tortoise in another life. He also borrowed your blouse mummy. It was a good performance and I think he deserves a 9/10!

πŸ‘©πŸ» Me – I wondered where that blouse went! πŸ˜† How about Kirsty and Brendan and their Waltz?

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» Bella – She looked like a princess but looked really nervous. Her mummy brought her healthy treats to her rehearsals, I think she needs some proper cake for next week! Can you bake her one of your glittery cupcakes, please, Mummy?

πŸ‘©πŸ» Me – Maybe! How about Jeremy and Karen’s Cha Cha Cha?

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» Bella – I loved it mummy. The judges said he was dad dancing, but he danced better than my daddy can dance and he looked like he was having lots of fun and that’s what Strictly is all about. I’m voting for them next week and if they win I want to borrow Karen’s dress. I give them a 9/10

πŸ‘©πŸ» Me – Don’t tell your daddy you said that! *Hopes hubby doesn’t read this blog post!*  What did you think of Ainsley and Natalie’s Tango?

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» Bella – He’s normally very happy and looked really grumpy. I think Craig must have been showing him his 2 paddle during their performance. They were really good and I loved Natalie’s dress. I give them an 8/10.

πŸ‘©πŸ» Me – I think you might be right there. What did you think about Katie and Anton‘s Jive?

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» Bella – I liked Katie’s dress and think it looked like lots of fun to dance. Anton was funny and I think he needs to go to the gym because he needs to dance a lot more this year. Baby Elodie loved their dance. I’d give them an 8/10.

πŸ‘©πŸ» Me – He needs a personal trainer and a personal shopper to help him with his Christmas shopping this year! What did you think of Georgia and Giovanni’s Jive?

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» Bella – I like them because they’re little like me! I tried jiving along but it’s very hard so they did really well. I nearly went to sleep after dancing it because I got so tired. I give them a 10/10 as it was fab-u-lous!

πŸ‘©πŸ» Me – What did you think of Iwan and Ola’s Tango?

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» Bella – He likes running around a lot. I think he’ll be really good at the quickstep. I’m not sure about this dance. I liked it, but I’d give them an 8/10.

πŸ‘©πŸ» Me – How about Jamelia and Tristan’s Waltz?

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» Bella – I loved her dress. She looked like Princess Tiana. They danced it really well too. I’d give them a 9/10!

πŸ‘©πŸ» Me – Finally, what did you think of Peter and Janette’s Cha Cha Cha?

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» Bella – It was uh-may-zing! Janette’s dress was very pretty. I liked it because it was pink. He looked like a profishional (professional) dancer! I give them 10/10!

πŸ‘©πŸ» Me – Thank you Bella. I know it’s your bedtime soon, so before you go to bed, who are your favourites this year?

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» Bella – It’s too hard to choose but I like Kellie and Kevin, Helen and Aljaz, Daniel and Kristina, Jeremy and Karen, Georgia and Giovanni and Peter and Janette. I want them all to win a glitterball.

πŸ‘©πŸ» Me – That may be a little hard. Thank you for letting me interview you Bella. Bella will be blogging regularly throughout this series of Strictly. Keep an eye on here to see what she has to say. She is a very opinionated 5 year old!

Strictly 2015 – Week 1, Show 2 Performance Review.

We don’t know about you, but Strictly Fever has well and truly arrived at our house. Tonight, accompanied by friends and family we all sat down to watch Strictly, for what was the first time my 9 month old watched the show from start to finish!

Our show kicked off with an amazing dance from the Strictly Professionals! They reminded us to “Shut up and dance!” in a sparkly and polite way as possible. Kevin even performed an impressive moonwalk! It made us want to get up and dance and we thought it might be a way of ensuring Craig Revel-Horwood was as kind as possible! It was a nice idea, but it didn’t work.

First up were Jay and Aliona. We knew that Jay was very nervous and secretly watched biting our nails, crossing our fingers and hoping he would do well! He did not disappoint and came out of his shell (like a tortoise ask my 5 year old!) to perform a brilliant dance. We gave him a Strictly 9. Our judges awarded him a respectable 27/40!

Next up were Kirsty and Brendan. From watching their training they looked almost perfect, however nerves really got the better of her. Her dress was stunning, but the dance was affected by her nerves. We really wanted to reach into our TV and give her a huge hug. We gave her a Strictly 8. Our judges gave her 20/40. The only way is up and we’re sure if she calms her nerves she will be in the competition for a long time!

Reporting for duty next were Jeremy and Karen (and the swingometer) with their Cha Cha Cha! Karen’s choreography is truly brilliant and really helped Jeremy showcase his strengths. It was a fun routine and although our judges were mean accusing him of “dad dancing” we think he performed brilliantly. We gave them a Strictly 8. Our judges awarded them 19/40.

We were then introduced to the most adorable partnership ever when Giovanni and Georgia jived onto the Strictly Floor. Those of you who are old enough to remember, probably remember Louisa and Vincent from 9 years ago. These two are definitely Louisa and Vincent mark 2 and gave us a Jive which was full of great dancing, brilliant choreography, story-telling and lots of great stuff! We loved it and gave it a Strictly 10. Our judges awarded them a respectable (but undermarked) 27/40.

Ainsley and Natalie cooked up a storm with an Argentine, French and Swedish Tango which confused us but also impressed us. It was dramatic, Natalie’s dress gave us serious dress envy and deserved a 10 on its own. We thought it deserved a 9. Our judges awarded them 20/40.

Katie and Anton were next onto the floor with their Jive. We know that Katie is a huge Strictly fan, and we love watching Strictly fans on the show. Their enthusiasm truly shines through in their performance. This was an energetic performance which was filled with steps (that tired out Anton!) and it was quite possibly Anton’s best first dance ever. We think Anton may need a personal trainer and help with his Christmas shopping this year. We gave them a Strictly 9 and my 9 month old danced throughout their performance. Our judges awarded them 26/40.

Iwan (the glitterman) Thomas and Ola Jordan then performed their tango. Given his busy schedule and short amount of training time, we were impressed and it was a good first effort. As an athlete we know he has stamina and will take on board criticism from the judges and work on it. We also think The Glitterman sounds like a great name for a comic superhero. We awarded them a Strictly 8.

Jamelia and Tristan then performed their Waltz. Jamelia’s dress was beautiful and she looked like Princess Tiana (according to my 5 year old!) Tristan’s choreography was beautiful and they moved us to tears. We gave them a Strictly 9.

Our final couple to step onto the floor were Peter and Janette. Their 90’s dance off in their VT was brilliant and deserved 10s! Their cha-cha was amazing and the best was saved till last. In our opinion they deserved 10s! Our judges awarded them the highest score of the weekend (30/40!)

That ended the night’s performance. From your initial reaction, we have to say Jay, Katie, Daniel, Kellie, Helen, Georgia and Peter are your favourites from week 1! If you haven’t told us yet, just vote below in this poll to let us know who your favourites are:

We’ll be back on Monday tweeting along with It Takes Two from 6.30pm and will have a chat and quiz on Tuesday from 8pm. We hope to see you then.

Strictly 2015 – Week 1 Show 1 – Performance Review!

Today we have been mainly running around like crazy people, getting ready for and excited about Strictly being back on our screens.

Not only have the uh-may-zing people at Strictly given us our own Emoji, but tonight we got to see 6 of our wonderful class of 2015 take to the floor for the very first time!

The show kicked off with Anton & Claudia coordinating their outfits to walk down the stairs of Planet Strictly. We’re pretty sure they planned it the night before, which is what we love about Strictly.

Bearing in mind that last year’s champion kicked off Strictly 2014, this year Kellie and Kevin took to the floor with an impressive Tango! We thought it was fabulous and it set the scene for Strictly 2015. No pressure guys!

Not only was the dancing great, but Kellie gave us our quote of the night:

Kellie’s outfit looked wonderful. In fact, we’ve made a space for it in our wardrobe. The music was brilliant, and Kevin’s choreography was original as ever. For us they deserved a 9! Our judges gave them a 27/40.

Next up were Antony and Oti with a brilliant Jive.

Whoever chose their song deserves a glitterball in their own right! Wake me up before you (O)Gogo, is a great choice for a Jive, but an even better choice for this couple. There was some confusion in my house, as Antony said he felt like a tree. We didn’t see any leaves on him so my 5 year old was a little bit confused.

Overall, they had energy and looked great together. They deserved an 8 in our opinion.

Our next couple were Helen and Aljaz whose Waltz brought tears to our eyes.

It was graceful, poised and elegant and made us cry happy tears, so much so, we couldn’t see our keyboard properly (it just became a blubbery mess!) It reminded us of Abbey and Aljaz’s waltz in week one of Strictly 2013. We think these two could go the whole way and lift the glitterball.

In our opinion they deserved a 10. Our judges scored them 29/40 (the highest score!)

Carol and Pasha took to the dancefloor with their Cha Cha Cha. It opened with Carol hosting a weather forecast.

We wish all weather forecasts were like this *imagines Pasha joining the BBC breakfast team.*

Nerves got the better of her. Her dress was beautiful, but we wanted to reach into the TV and give her a hug. For energy and enthusiasm from us she deserved a Strictly 7. Our judges gave her 16/40.

We then were taken across to Ireland to see Daniel and Kristina perform their Waltz.

Watching their rehearsal, we had to say that Daniel is quite possibly the most adorable human being ever! My 5 year old said “he looks like a teddybear!” Their performance was charming, endearing and all warm and fuzzy. We loved it. Our judges were surprised too. We awarded him an 8/10.

We know on Strictly, the best are always saved till last and Anita and some bloke from Russia Gleb took to the floor with a Countryfile themed Cha-Cha-Cha.

It took us back to 2010, when Matt Baker was paired with Aliona. We must say that Anita put on a great performance and together they were truly uh-may-zing. She really gave it some welly! We gave them a 9/10. Our judges awarded them 27/40.

At the end of the night they were all our favourites. It’d seem your favourites were Anita, Helen and Kellie! Let us know what you thought of tonight. You can tweet @scd_support, or comment below to let us know. We look forward to hearing from you.

We’re back tomorrow from 6pm tweeting along with the second live show as it happens.  We hope to see you there!

Strictly 2015 – Our Favourite Ever First Dances!

There is just one more sleep until Strictly is back, and Strictly fever has well and truly descended on the nation! In honour of this great event, we’re showing you our top 5 first dances ever performed on Strictly.

5) Mark and Karen’s Cha Cha Cha

Cast your mind back to 9 years ago, when Arlene got a little bit flustered and Len got a little bit grumpy about this routine! If a routine goes on last during the show, you know it’s going to be a good’un, and these two didn’t disappoint. Mark came out of his shell, and Karen’s choreography was truly brilliant. It was the sort of dance that really made us smile. They scored the highest score on the night, 27, and it made this couple one of our favourite couples ever!

4) Abbey and Aljaz’s Waltz

For a good first dance, as well as good technique you also need emotion. This dance did make us blub like a baby as it was so subtle, beautiful and perfect. The music was beautiful, the costumes even more so and the choreography was just graceful and perfect. We loved it and in our opinion it deserved 9s  and 10s. We hope you do too:

3) Simon and Kristina’s Jive

Performing a Jive in week one takes bravery from both pros and celebs. It is one of the toughest dances, but Simon and Kristina’s Jive was one of our favourites of week 1 2014. It had energy and brilliant choreography which was very well executed. We loved it and hope you will too:

2) Frankie and Kevin’s Waltz

*Chants* Umbrellas are not bad luck on the Strictly Dancefloor, Umbrellas are not bad luck on the Strictly Dancefloor. (Especially when they have sparkly bits on them) Kevin’s choreography is always original and well matched for his celebrity. This dance was no exception. Frankie’s dress gave us serious dress envy and the arrangement of the music was truly brilliant. The dance was beautifully performed and it moved me (a very hormonal and pregnant lady – at the time) to happy tears.

1) Austin and Erin’s Waltz

Len knows his stuff. So when he said this dance was the best ever first dance from a male celebrity, we have to agree. It was hard to tell Austin apart from the male professionals throughout series 6, and we were upset when he left. This routine was beautiful, elegant and had everything we love about Strictly in one dance.

Now you’ve seen our favourite first dances, we want to hear what your favourite first dances are. You can tweet us @scd_support or comment below to let us know!

We look forward to hearing from you.

Strictly Support Group – Our Rugby World Cup and Reality TV show!

Yesterday the Rugby World Cup kicked off in this green and pleasant land. With just 6 more sleeps until Strictly is back tonight we hosted a Rugby World Cup and Reality TV chat.

We kicked off our chat with a Rugby Match asking you of all the rugby players to have ever appeared on Strictly, who do you think deserves to win a glittery strictly rugby ball and why? What was your favourite Strictly moment of theirs? We had some uh-may-zing answers. Here are our favourites:

We loved all these suggestions! For our next question we asked In Rugby, the object is to score a try. Who on strictly do you think has tried hardest? We had some uh-may-zing answers. Here were the answers that deserved 3 points in our opinion:

We then moved on to ask you for the moment which has made you want to tackle our judges the most? We must say one particular judge got more tackles than the others (no names mentioned but look out Craig, you need to give some 10s this year! πŸ˜†):

For our next question we asked Which Strictly Routine do you think is fit for an opening ceremony? You gave some fab-u-lous answers. Like these:

We then moved on our chat to ask Matt Dawson famously performed the Hakarena earlier this week, which went viral. If you could choose a strictly routine to put fear in your opponents which routine would you choose and why?

We then moved on to talk about all things Reality TV. We asked firstly: If you could mash-up any reality show with Strictly, which reality show would it be? Here were some of our favourite answers:

We love all these suggestions, particularly as one of them involves cake, one involved fabulous vintage costumes, and the other two have already been tried before! The gogglebox suggestion sounds great too, after all seeing their reactions to Strictly, they look brilliant!

We then asked who on Strictly has the X Factor and why? Here were your chart-topping suggestions:

For our final question we asked who is like a Big Brother on Strictly and why? You gave some wonderful answers like these:

That ended tonight’s chat. We’re back on Tuesday from 8pm for our weekly quiz. It’s our last one before Strictly starts on Friday.

During the series, we’ll be tweeting along during the live show, as well as hosting fortnightly chats and quizzes and giving our verdicts on the performances every week. We’ll have our strictly experts giving their verdicts too. There’ll be plenty of fun for you to join in with every week.

As ever, we’ll bring you the news as it happens too! We can’t wait *squeals*
