Strictly Support Group – A Marathon Themed Chat

Tomorrow, lots of very brave people will tackle the 26.2 mile course as they run The London Marathon! As a Marathon runner myself, I wish all those running the race lots of luck. Strictly Come Dancing is a little bit like a marathon; it requires lots of training, stamina and practise. It is also a long journey from start to finish. As Strictly is so much like a marathon, tonight we hosted a marathon-themed chat!

We stocked up on lucozade, and donned sparkly sweatbands and leg warmers like these two:

We then began our chat by asking this question:

A marathon is 26.2 miles long! Like Strictly, it tests even the strongest of runners. Whose time on Strictly has been as much of a struggle as a marathon and why? We had some brilliant suggestions like these:

We then moved on our chat to ask which Strictly dance would fit best in a marathon and why? Here are some of your brilliant suggestions:

We then asked you to tell us the performance which was most deserving of a marathon medal! Here are your ideas in playlist form:

For our next question we asked you this. Many athletes/sportspeople have competed on Strictly and/or run the London Marathon. Which Sportsperson would you like to see competing on Strictly 2016? Here are your wonderful suggestions:

For our penultimate question we asked what’s the longest you’ve travelled in honour of Strictly? We had two people who have travelled the world (and the seven seas) in honour of Strictly Come Dancing. Here is the proof:

If you have travelled further than these two sparkly jet setters, let us know! We’d love to hear from you.

Our final question was this Of all the people on Strictly who do you think would beat the competition in a marathon and why? Here were your suggestions:

And with that question we reached the finish line and the end of our Marathon themed chat. Thank you all for taking part. If you were pipped to the post and missed tonight’s chat, don’t fear! You can still join in by tweeting @scd_support or commenting below. We look forward to hearing from you.

Good luck to all those running in the London Marathon! We’re back on Tuesday from 8pm for our weekly quiz. We hope to see you then.
