DiddyDance – A Review

We are all huge strictly fans in our house, and even the smallest member of our household, Baby Elodie is starting to develop a real love of all things dance and Strictly.

Yes, she may only be 18 months old, but last year she was possibly the youngest “Team Jandre” supporter and she watched slept through most of the 2014 final, at only 3 days old.

Watching Strictly last year, we were introduced to Diddy Dance, and the idea was sold to me just like that! I signed Elodie up as soon as she was old enough now, and last week was her first class.

I can honestly say she had the best time. She had the biggest smile on her face throughout the class and loved every minute of it. She loved wearing ballet shoes like her big sister and dancing along to the music. The class encourages music and movement and is a great way of getting tinies interested in Strictly! She wanted to run around a lot during and after the class, so I think quickstep will be her dance, but afterwards she told me “more dancey mummy! More dancey!”

We will definitely be back!

Strictly Support Group – Sports Champion of Champions – ๐Ÿ‰๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐ŸปWeek 6 ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ‰

This week has definitely been a week of shocks for the UK. Not only have we had a shock EU Referendum result, as well as massive changes in parliament, but England’s Euro 2016 journey has abruptly come to an end thanks to Iceland (we always thought their desserts were too good to be true.)

Now it’s time to reveal our Champion of Champion results *Hands out an unlimited supply of hot chocolate for all the readers of her blog in preparation for another shock result.*

Your votes have now been checked and counted. We can now reveal that the couple with the lowest votes, leaving the competition this week are *starts a drumroll to build suspense* Series 4 Champions, Mark and Karen! ๐Ÿ˜ณ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

Don’t fear ladies, we are not that mean, we won’t let Mark and Karen leave this competition without us showing you their brilliant Argentine Tango! *melts from the heat of it all*

Now, where were we? Oh yes! Time for you to watch this week’s dances. To do so, just click on the link below. Once you’ve watched all the dances you can vote using the poll below. You can vote once a day for as many couples as you like. Voting will close at 6pm on Sunday when the vote will be frozen. We’ll then reveal the couple with the lowest votes who will leave the ballroom. Keep voting and dancing!

It’s Sunday!

It’s Father’s Day

And (we all know the most important event today is that) it’s time for us to reveal the results of our weekly Champion of Champions.

Lots of you have all voted for your favourites and this week we can reveal that we’ve used a very little and adorable helper to count the results. Yes, we’ve chosen the youngest Strictly fan in my house, Baby Elodie!

With mummy’s help she has counted your votes and we can now reveal that the couple leaving the competition with the lowest number of votes are Thom and Iveta! Their exit is as shocking as their real exit from the competition.

We’re now in week 5 of our competition so to see the remaining couples’s dances, please click the link below:

Once you’ve watched all the dances, you can vote in the poll by just clicking this link below:

We’ll keep the vote open until Next Sunday at 6pm. We’ll then reveal the results and the couple with the lowest number of votes will leave the competition.

If there’s one vote that counts as much as the EU referendum, it’s this vote, so get voting people!

Yes, we’re almost at the halfway mark in our Sports Champion of Champions. Last week we waved goodbye to Robbie Savage and Ola Jordan *remembers Robbie and his lucious locks before crying into a pack of tissues.*

*composes herself* This week many of you have been voting, despite the kick-off of Euro 2016. Thank you all for your votes. They have been checked and verified by these two cuties. We believe they’re called Rufferees *hears the sound of tumbleweed*

We had a tie this evening between the bottom two couples, so invited you to vote for who you wanted to stay in the competition! It was between Thom and Iveta and Jade and Ian! We can now reveal the couple going home with the lowest number of votes are Jade and Ian. It’s another shock result, which was just as shocking as their exit from the competition.

Anyway, we are now voting on week 4’s dances! All you need to do is click the link below to watch the dances, then vote in the poll just underneath them. You can vote once a day for as many couples as you like. Voting will remain open until 6pm next Sunday when we’ll freeze the vote before revealing the results at 7pm.

Keep watching, keep dancing and keep voting people!

We’ll be back on Tuesday from 8pm for a short quiz. We hope to see you then.

Strictly Support Group – ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ A European Themed Chat! ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ

Apparently a football competition kicked off last night, but we prefer Glitterballs over Footballs, so tonight hosted a European themed chat featuring the ever so smallest amount of football.

We began our chat by asking the following question:

We all know that Strictly in the UK is the best version of the show by far! If you could see another European version of the show, which would it be and why?

You gave us some wonderful answers. These were our favourites:

We thought these were wonderful suggestions. For our next question we asked you:

Which dance style reminds you most of Europe? What makes it remind you of Europe the most?

Here are some of your wonderful answers:

For our next question, we had a football related question ๐Ÿ˜ฑ! We asked you to tell us who you thought was the best footballer on Strictly. You all unanimously agreed that this person was the best footballer! He really embraced all things Strictly (even if he reminded us of a Golden Retriever!)

Our penultimate question focused on national pride. During major sporting events, we feel very proud of our nation. When have you felt proudest watching Strictly and why did you feel so proud? Here are your suggestions:

For our final question of the night we asked this question:

If there were a strictly world/European cup of dance and our professional dancers were asked to perform what group dance do you think could win them the trophy?

Here are some of your brilliant answers:

That ended tonight’s chat. Thank you all for taking part. We hope you enjoyed it. We’re back tomorrow night from 7pm for our Strictly Support Group champion of champions. We hope to see you then.

We are now in the third round of our Sports Champion of Champions and the competition and tension is building as we approach “half-time” in our competition.

Yes, there are now 9 couples left in our competition. Over the past week, you have voted for your favourite couple to be carried through to the third round.

We can now reveal that our linesman has checked, counted and verified your votes. We can now reveal the couple leaving us with the lowest votes tonight are Robbie and Ola. *sobs and flicks her hair back a la Robbie Savage*

It’s another shock result and we think Len’ll definitely pickle his walnuts tonight! *Provides everyone with a nose peg as we hear they can let off quite a stench*

8 couples now remain in the competition. To see this week’s dances, just click this link below:

Once you’ve watched the dances you’ll be able to vote in our poll! You can vote for as many couples as you like once a day. Voting will remain open until 6pm next Sunday. We’ll then freeze the vote and reveal the next couple to leave the ballroom at 7.30pm!

Keep Voting and Dancing!

Strictly Support Group – A Fashion Themed Chat!

On Strictly, costumes are just as important a part of the show as the dancing. We must point out that Vicky Gill and her team do a wonderful job at helping bring dances to life. Tonight we decided to host a Strictly Support Group Fashion-themed chat to pay tribute to the wonderful Costume team.

We began our chat by asking There have been many stunning costumes which have been worn on the Strictly dancefloor. Which is your favourite and why?

For our next question we asked Who on Strictly has been “best dressed” for you? You gave us some wonderful answers, like these:

Theme weeks on Strictly always bring us some wonderful costumes to help couples get into character. For our next question, we asked whose theme costume has been best and who would win a “best strictly fancy dress” award? Here are some of your fabulous suggestions:

For our next question we asked you Strictly has won many awards, including awards for Costume and make-up. What makes the costumes on Strictly so uh-may-zing in your opinion?

For our penultimate question, we asked you There have been wardrobe malfunctions in the past on Strictly. When have you wanted to reach into your TV screen and give the couple involved a hug?  These were some of our favourites:

For our final question, we asked: If you were to be asked to design a Strictly costume what would feature on it and what would it look like?

That ended tonight’s chat. Thank you all for taking part. If you missed our chat, don’t fear! You can still take part by tweeting @scd_support or commenting below. We look forward to hearing what you thought.

We’re back tomorrow from 7.30pm to reveal the results of our Champion of Champions. We hope to see you then.

Strictly Support Group – A Strictly Anecdote For You!

Saturdays in our house are as chaotic as we’d imagine a Strictly live show day to be. My 6 year old Strictly Superfan has her Ballet, Flamenco and Musical Theatre classes followed by Swimming and her baby sister has just as packed a schedule with her baby gym and swimming lessons.

This morning, whilst preparing Bella for her dance classes, Baby Elodie (aged 17 months) decided that she too wanted to go to Bella’s ballet class and asked for mummy to find her Tutu! I quickly found her tutu and ensured they looked like beautiful ballerinas.

What then followed was my 6 year old trying to teach her baby sister some ballet moves! We had “Goo Goes Oreos” (Good Toes Naughty Toes) and some bunny hops! Baby Elodie wasn’t the best student and soon got tired deciding after a couple of minutes to roll around on the floor.

Bella then told me “Mummy, Elodie’s still too little to learn to dance!” I’m not sure Elodie was impressed with this and decided to prove she was ready by following her sister into her ballet class. It ended in tears when she realised mummy hadn’t followed her in, but still goes to show that dance brings people together. It doesn’t matter how old (or young) you are, but there is a budding dancer inside everyone!

Keep Dancing everyone!

Toca Dance – A review by 6yr old Bella! ๐Ÿฆ„๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘ธ๐Ÿป

For many in the UK it’s half-term this week. When planning a journey last week my 6yr old kindly requested something strictly (or unicorn) related to keep her busy during our flight to Barcelona.

We are huge fans of the Hachette Digital Strictly Sticker app but my daughter wanted a new app to keep her entertained. I searched for a long time before discovering the TocaBoca Toca Dance app. This is a great app which allows children (and grown-ups) to choreograph and record fun dances using some great characters.

Bella is very honest and is one of the fiercest critics I know. I asked my little girl to tell me what she thought of the app. Here is a short review from her:

Toca Dance is a fab-u-lous and fun app. I like it a lot because you can make fun dances just like you see on Strictly. I like making them and my baby sister likes watching them.

You get to choose from some characters and can then teach them to dance a routine. You can then dress them up in fun costumes (there are no unicorns but my favourites are the glow in the dark ones) and choose a song to perform to. You then get to record it and set up the stage and can perform in front of an audience and throw objects at them.

I really liked it as it reminded me of strictly and mummy says I could be a choreographer when I’m bigger!

I’d give it 10 glitter balls as I think it’s fabulous. Mummy says it kept me busy and quiet during a very long flight which is a good thing but I don’t understand why. Here’s my creation:

It certainly got the Bella seal of approval. I had a go earlier and have to say I thought it was just as good too.

Toca dance is available to download on the App Store. We recommend downloading it as it’s great for rainy days at home.
