Strictly Support Group – We’re All Going On A Summer Holiday!

We’re all going where the sea is blue sparkly and glittery! Yes, tonight, we hosted a Summer Holiday themed chat as well as our Strictly Yearbook awards! We packed our sparkly suitcase and headed off to sunnier climes (well our lounge) and began our chat by asking you this question:

Which Strictly performance reminds you most of Summer Holidays and why? We had some great suggestions from you all. Here they are in playlist format:

We then moved on to ask you this:

We never pack light when we go on holiday. Who do you think packed most into their time on Strictly? You gave us some brilliant answers. Here are our favourites:

We then moved on to ask you:

We normally encounter turbulence during our flight, but who on Strictly had the most turbulent time and why? Here are some of your great suggestions:

For our final question of the night in our chat, we asked you to name the holiday food that most reminds you of Strictly? Here are some brilliant suggestions from you, which made our mouths water!

After this chat, we then moved on to host our annual Strictly Yearbook awards. Every year we award virtual awards to some of the stars of strictly from the previous year! Here are the results in a short video!

That ended tonight’s #strictlysupportgroup. If you didn’t get a chance to take part, don’t fear! You can still take part by tweeting @scd_support or commenting below.

We’re here from 8pm on Tuesday for our weekly Strictly Support Quiz. We hope to see you then.

100 Sparkly Days of Strictly – Day 13

We agree as strictly fans, nothing and nobody comes between us and Strictly, but we also love sharing Strictly with those we love!

Yes, in our house, Strictly is always best shared with our family and friends. For us it is the show that brings together the youngest in our family (aged 18 months) and the eldest (in their 60s.) In fact, everyone loves watching strictly!

We also think Strictly is best shared with some fab-u-lous Strictly snacks and sparkly bubbles! After all, we need energy to get us through all the excitement.

What or who is Strictly best shared with for you? Tell us by tweeting @scd_support or commenting below with the hashtag #100sparklydaysofstrictly.

We look forward to hearing from you.

100 Sparkly Days Of Strictly – Day 12!

We know that Strictly is a magical world filled with Sparkles and no other planet comes close to its sparkliness!

Well today, we’re delving into the depths of the sparkly ocean to find the sparkliest dance of them all!

If we were to ask our mirror this question: “Mirror Mirror on the wall, which is the sparkliest dance of them all?” we’re sure that this would be the answer:

We loved Pixie and Trent’s Charleston when it was performed, not least for Pixie’s sparkly outfit! It was full of stage presence, brilliant choreography and that Strictly magic! In fact, we’d go so far as saying it deserved 4 10s.

We loved it and it summed up everything we love about strictly!

Tell us the dance you think is the sparkliest of them all! You can tweet us @scd_support or comment below. We look forward to hearing from you.

100 Sparkly Days of Strictly – Day 11!

I would love to redecorate my entire house in Glittery Wallpaper, however I was somewhat restricted during our most recent makeover, when my husband declared it was too loud and proud!

We love anything that sparkles, shines or glitters. In fact, we are like magpies. Despite being banned from purchasing glittery wallpaper, it didn’t stop me from buying shoes (a girl can never have too many shoes you know!) I bought matching shoes for myself and my little baby (who herself is quickly becoming a Strictly fan at the tender age of 18 months!)

Here are our sparkly shoes which’ll keep us going until Strictly starts in September. This is just one of the signs of strictly in our house!

Share your signs of Strictly! We’d love to see them. You can tweet us @scd_support, or comment below! We look forward to hearing from you.

100 Sparkly Days of Strictly – Day 10!

We are now at Day 10 of our 100 Sparkly Days of Strictly challenge! Today we’re hosting our first competition!

We love Strictly and love selfies just as much! For today’s challenge we’re asking you to share a #strictlyselfie! It could be you with a friend at a tour, or you with one of the pros, or just a picture of you watching Strictly and looking fab-u-lous! It could also be a selfie from a strictly couple that has made you smile.

For us, this is our favourite Selfie. It sums up everything that we love about Strictly. People from completely different backgrounds becoming the closest of friends! Strictly really is a fab-u-lous family and watching the camararderie each series always makes us realise the Planet Strictly is one of the loveliest places on earth!

Send us your favourite #strictlyselfies. We’ll then reveal our lucky winner at 8pm just before our quiz, when one of you will win a sparkly set of disco glitterball lamps! Get sharing and snapping you sparkly strictly superfans!

Strictly 2016 – New Pro Announcement!

So a few weeks ago we heard the announcement of the Strictly pros which officially started our Strictly 2016 countdown!

Today we had an extra sparkly surprise when the sparkly geniuses at Strictly announced 3 more pros to be added to the line-up!

They are:

Neil Jones

AJ Pritchard

Chloe Hewitt

Neil has already appeared in the pro dances and has helped choreograph them too.

AJ and Chloe were on Britain’s Got Talent in 2013 and reached the live semi-finals. They are young, vibrant and are great role models for wannabe young dancers (yes Bella, if you’re reading this, mummy means you!)

We’re sure they’ll all be fab-u-lous and uh-may-zing and will excel on Planet Strictly!

So that now means that there are a total of 17 pro dancers on Strictly!

It got us thinking, does this mean there will be 15/16 weeks of Strictly? If there are, bring it on!

Whatever happens, we’re sure Strictly 2016 will be the best series ever!

What do you think of the new pros? Tweet us @scd_support or comment below to let us know. We look forward to hearing from you.

100 Sparkly Days Of Strictly – Day 9

Yesterday we asked you to share the dances that reminded you most of Summer. Today, we want to see your favourite first dances!

There are first dances on Strictly which excite us and make us want to get up and dance. When a first dance impresses us we’ll normally end up supporting that couple all the way through their Strictly journey!

For us, we couldn’t just pick one dance so have picked 4 of our favourite first dances. Here they are in picture form:

Here’s why we loved each of them so much!

Lisa and Robin’s Cha Cha Cha – We had a feeling Lisa would be an uh-may-zing dancer, but this dance surprised us. Her confidence, natural rhythm and great friendship with Robin were easy to see right from the start. It made us very excited and made us want to see her realise her full potential!

Jeremy and Karen’s Cha Cha Cha – We always like to think if we were on Strictly we would give it our all. This is exactly what Jeremy did. Although not the best dancer in week 1, he tried and the most important part was that he had a lot of fun. He did have impeccable timing and pulled off some great moves. We loved it even if the judges declared “the problems started when you began to dance!” Nobody is perfect but Jeremy gave it his all and looked like he was having the time of his life. We fell in love with this couple from the start!

Abbey and Aljaz’s Waltz – Normally the waltz is a dance that doesn’t excite us, but this dance left us feeling a tad emotional:

(Yes there really were days before Strictly Support Group when I tweeted about strictly on my personal Twitter! 😱)

The dance itself was beautifully choreographed and performed. It was elegant and just brilliant. That’s what makes it one of our favourite first dances.

Frankie and Kevin’s Waltz – Ok, I may have just admitted that the waltz doesn’t excite us, but this was another first dance which we fell in love with. Kevin’s choreography yet again is inventive and putting props into the dance in week 1 is always a risk, which paid off. The performance was brilliant as was the dancing and it left us feeling a tad emotional because it was so beautiful! It set the expectation that this couple would be truly awesome and they were, reaching the 2014 final!

So there are our favourite first dances. What is your favourite first dance? Tweet us @scd_support or comment below to let us know. We look forward to hearing from you.

100 Sparkly Days of Strictly – Day 8

Today marks the start of the School Summer Holidays and whilst many parents start tearing their hair out are enjoying spending time with their little monsters, or off on holidays, we’re seeing this holiday as the countdown to one thing…. The start of Strictly 2016!

We love the summertime and it makes us smile knowing that Strictly is just round the corner. The sun keeps shining, everyone seems that little bit happier, the glitterball is in touching distance and well you get the picture! It got us thinking, what Strictly moment reminds you most of Summer and why?

Well for today’s 100 sparkly days of Strictly, we’d like to see the Strictly moments that come to mind when you hear the word Summer!

We have chosen this magical Strictly moment from Susanna and Kevin! (*goes off subject* Can we officially name Kevin “King of the Paso Doble” after all his wonderful Paso Dobles especially the Paso at the Strictly Prom the other day?) Here are the reasons why this dance reminds us most of Summer:

1) It was fiery, hot and just full of Spanish flair! There is a Spanish saying that La Lluvia en Sevilla Es una pura maravilla (translated – the rain in Seville is a miracle!) Sevilla has more sunny days than anywhere else in Spain and this dance transported us straight to Seville in the middle of November. It was hot, fiery and reminded us of a Spanish Bullfight. It left us in need of un abanico (a fan) and some sangria to cool us down. Now, where’s that paella gone?

2) It was performed in Blackpool – Ok, admittedly Blackpool doesn’t have the sunniest weather, nor was this dance performed in summer, but Blackpool (and its tower) are not just an iconic dancing venue, they are also a popular holiday resort. Whenever Strictly goes to Blackpool it always reminds us of a Summer holiday (even if it may be in the middle of Autumn!)

3) This dance was so well choreographed, performed and just perfect – We’ve always been big fans of Kevin’s choreography. It excites us and always leaves us wanting to see what routines he’ll choreograph the following week! Seeing Susanna perform this dance and reach the standard she did to perform this made us smile just like Summer days. We love people who have a real journey on the show!

All in all we loved this routine and it will always make us smile no matter what the weather is! It transports us to Spain (via Blackpool) and never fails to remind us of Summer.

What’s your summer choice? Tell us by tweeting @scd_support or commenting below. We look forward to hearing from you.

100 Sparkly Days of Strictly – Day 7

Strictly wouldn’t be Strictly without sequins, just like our pre-show preparation wouldn’t be complete without some essential Strictly Snacks.

Yes, we love our nibbles during the Strictly Live Shows and try to make them as Sparkly as possible. In the past we’ve been known to eat glittery shortbread, glittery cookies, popping candy, haribo tangfastics and many other yummy treats, but our ultimate Strictly Snack has to be this *hears screams of joy and surprise coming from her readership*

Yes, it’s a sparkly Glitterball cake! It took some time to perfect, but once it was made it looked just like this one and was truly yummy. In fact, my 6 year old has insisted on me making one every launch show as in her opinion it’s helped her favourite reach the final 3 years in a row!

One of the great things about Strictly Snacks is that they not only help fuel us during the Strictly Live Shows, but we also can share them and exchange them virtually over Social Media. The best thing about this exchange, is the calories don’t count.

Anyway, we want to see pictures of your favourite Strictly Snacks! Tweet us @scd_support, or comment below. We promise we are willing to share and exchange Strictly Snacks especially where chocolate is involved!
