Strictly 2016 – Our Thoughts Ahead of Week 5’s Performances!

Let’s face it, this year’s Strictly has been full of surprises and shocks. From shock exits to amazingly high scores in week 4! Yesterday, the wonderful people at Strictly revealed the Tunes that the couples will be dancing to this weekend. I think we’re in for some more awesome surprises this weekend! Here’s what we think of the remaining couples’ dances:

Anastacia and Brendan will be dancing the Quickstep to ‘My Kind of Town’ by Frank Sinatra – We’ve listened to this song and think this will be a classic quickstep. Anastacia knows how to sell a performance and so far she has shown she is good at sass, sophistication and also at speed! We predict this will be her best dance to date! We predict she’ll score an 8 from the judges!

Claudia and AJ will be dancing the Samba to ‘Young Hearts Run Free’ by Candi Staton – The samba is notoriously difficult but knowing these two they will pull it off and perform an amazing routine. We predict it’ll be full of the flavour of Rio Carnival and acrobatic tricks. My 6 year old hopes they perform “the cat bananas (her name for batucadas)” in this dance. I have a feeling they will and will do much much more! We predict this dance may score a 9 from the judges.

Daisy and Aljaz will be dancing the Charleston to ‘Happy Feet’ by Manhattan Rhythm Kings – A truly brilliant song choice for a Charleston! Team Happy Dayz will be dancing to Happy Feet and will hopefully have very happy feet. Daisy’s quickstep was very impressive, so we have a feeling she’ll build on her quickstep practice to pull off an even more impressive Charleston.  We predict this dance will score a 10 from the judges.

Danny and Oti will be dancing the Rumba to the Sam Smith version of ‘How Will I Know’ – We love this song and love this pair. Oti’s choreography week after week has amazed us and as an Actor we’re sure Danny will be able to channel the romance of the Rumba. Rumba is a notoriously difficult dance for a male celebrity so we’re hoping that the judges are extra kind to him! *prepares a lot of tissues in advance* We predict it’ll rain 10s and there’ll be lots of tears!

Ed and Katya will be dancing the American Smooth to ‘(Is This The Way To) Amarillo’ by Tony Christie – The anticipation of hearing what Ed will be dancing to each week and seeing his performance on a saturday are two of the reasons we’re voting for him. All we can say is we really cannot wait to see this dance and to find out what Ed will be wearing. We hope this dance earns Ed several 7s!

Greg and Natalie will be dancing the Cha Cha to ‘We Found Love’ by Rihanna featuring Calvin Harris – This looks set to be a super fast and super impressive Cha Cha Cha. We always love Natalie’s choreography and are sure it’ll play to Greg’s strengths. We think this dance will score at least an 8 from the judges

Judge Rinder and Oksana will be dancing the Jive to ‘Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy’ by The Andrews Sisters – *hopes for a 1940s themed performance* Judge Rinder can pull off any performance and role he is given. He is a true showman and is pretty good at dancing too. After the truly awesome Jive last week, Judge Rinder said on the Results show he was going to go for 40! It could be the 1940s more than a perfect score, but we think this dance will suit him very well. We predict the judge will receive a couple of 8s

Laura and Giovanni will be dancing the Jive to ‘Reet Petite’ by Jackie Wilson – From the 1940s to the 1950s. We’re loving seeing Laura grow as a performer and a dancer. She excelled at Quickstep and Jive is just as (if not even more) quick. This will no doubt be a fun and fast performance. We think she’ll do brilliantly! We predict this dance could score Laura more 9s!

Lesley and Anton will be dancing the Tango to the Gotan Project version of ‘Whatever Lola Wants’ – We’re guessing in this dance Lesley will be playing the role of a Lola who was a showgirl with yellow feathers in her hair. Lesley always commits to a character in the dance and her energy and acting ability shine through every performance. Tango requires a lot of agression and character, so we think this may be her best dance of the competition so far. We think she’ll score at least one 9, maybe more!

Louise and Kevin will be dancing the Rumba to the Michael Buble version of ‘Always on My Mind’ – I love Kevin’s choreography and love his Rumbas. I always feel happy letting my little girl watch them. This Rumba is also performed to a bit of Buble! We love it already. It may make our eyes leak a bit. Last week Darcey told Kevin to push Louise, so we predict this Rumba will be technically very difficult. We know she’ll do a brilliant job of the performance. Could they score 10s? We hope so.

Ore and Joanne will be dancing the Waltz to the Claudia Streza version of ‘I Will Always Love You’ – *grabs more tisssues as her eyes leak before passing some over to Ore* This performance could get a tad emosh. We’re sure it’ll be truly uhmayzing and may even top his Jive last week. If it doesn’t score tens we’ll eat the lovely new hat we bought earlier!

So those are our thoughts on Week 5’s performances. We have now added the song choices to our Spotify playlist! Click on the link below to subscribe and find out more:
