Strictly 2016 – A Halloween Week Performance Review! πŸŽƒπŸ’ƒπŸ»πŸ‘»πŸ’ƒπŸ»πŸŽƒ

Yes tonight we swapped our Glitterballs for our Pumpkin lights and sat down to watch the spooktacular Strictly Halloween show!

We LOVE Halloween. It’s the show where Strictly adds even more glitter than is humanly possible. The make-up, hair, costumes and choreography always amaze us and tonight’s show was no exception! Despite a lack of 10s we loved it!

The show began with a brilliant tribute to the late Pete Burns and we took a trip to the Strictly funfair *books her ticket there for next week* It was fun, fantastic and fab-u-lous and we’re sure that Pete would be really proud of that performance.

Once we’d done the obligatory introductions, it was then time for the first competitive performance of the night, from Louise and Kevin! They were performing a Charleston to the Emeli Sande cover of Crazy in Love, dressed as the Joker and Harley Quinn! It was set as a comic themed Charleston and there were elements of comedy and more action than a Batman flick! We loved it and thought they deserved a 10! The judges awarded the 35/40!

Next up were Judge Rinder and Oksana who were performing a Paso Doble. Oksana was a butterfly and Judge Rinder was a moth. We have it on good authority that moths are in fact manly butterflies. πŸ€” The dance was full of drama and was definitely entertaining. Judge Rinder sure can dance and he is coming out of his cocoon and emerging as a beautiful dancer! We gave him an 8. The judges gave him 32/40! On another note, we’d like to be made up like Oksana everyday! We love the butterfly make-up!

Third to perform were Claudia and AJ. They were performing an American Smooth. Claudia was a teenage witch *has memories of Sabrina and Salem before realising these two are probably too young to remember them* and AJ was a frog. They were performing to Black Magic by Little Mix. We were a little unsure about this song being used for an American Smooth but these two never fail to impress us. The dance was spellbinding, enchanting and bewitching. It was super smooth and the lifts were perfectly executed. We thought she should get a 10 but the judges awarded her 36/40 *eats a witches hat that a witch let her borrow this week*

Next up were Anastacia and Brendan who were performing a Jive! They were bats and possibly the sparkliest bats this side of Planet Strictly. We absolutely love Anastacia’s spirit and the lady knows how to sell a performance. It wasn’t technically perfect, but it was a joy to watch. We loved it and thought she should get a 7. The judges awarded her a disappointing 25/40.

Danny and Oti then took to the floor with a hauntingly beautiful Foxtrot. They were tied together with (what my 6 year old described as) a dog lead! It was a gorgeous dance, and even though Danny made some mistakes he covered them up well! The Foxtrot is a very difficult dance and he did an amazing job especially as the choreography he was given was super difficult! We gave him a 9. The judges awarded him 31/40.

Next up were Laura and Giovanni who were performing a Tango to Paint it Black. Forget painting it black, they painted the town red! The dance was super fast and freakishly awesome. We loved it and together they were on fire! We gave them a 10. The judges awarded them 36/40.

Next up were the second couple performing a Charleston… Ore and Joanne! *prepares herself for a Clifton Charleston-off*

Well they were awesome. Despite my husband commenting that Ore looked just like Chewbacca, we thought the dance was fast, fab-u-lous and fun! We love Ore’s ability to make every dance his own. The judges commented on his lack of swivel. We didn’t notice it and htought they deserved a 9. The judges awarded them 32/40

Greg and Natalie then performed a Rumba to “Bring me to Life” by Evanescence. We always thought this song fitted a Paso Doble better than a Rumba, but credit has to go to Natalie whose choreography was stunning and brilliant. The dance was powerful and not raunchy but strong as a Rumba. It showcased Greg’s strengths perfectly. We thought he should get an 8. The judges awarded them 26/40 (including a 4 from Mr Nasty! πŸ™„)

The penultimate couple to take to the floor were Daisy and Aljaz who were performing a mexican Dia de los muertos inspired Paso Doble. We loved Daisy and Aljaz’s halloween make-up and look, it was wonderful. The dance itself was powerful and dramatic and we loved it! We thought they deserved a 9, the judges awarded them 33/40!

Our final couple of the night and the performance of the night came from Ed and Katya who performed a Cha Cha Cha. Ed was a mad scientist and the performance was crazy but charming! It really made us smile and reminded us what we really love about Strictly. It made Craig laugh πŸ™„ and also earned Ed his highest score in the competition so far, 26/40!

Overally we loved the whole show and thought it was truly fab-u-lous!  There were however certainly some spooky goings on tonight as the couples at the top of the leaderboard found themselves in a dangerous middle section of the leaderboard! πŸ™„ We also saw a distinct lack of πŸ”Ÿs!

What did you think of Strictly Halloween week? Who were your favourites? Who do you think is in danger? Tell us by tweeting @scd_support or commenting below. We look forward to hearing from you!
