Strictly 2016 – Our Musicals Week Predictions *jazz hands*

Yes, this Saturday will be the week the remaining 5 couples take to the floor for Musicals Week. From past experience we know to expect several things from this Saturday’s show:

There will be dancing which will surpass the standards of Blackpool

There will be singing and dancing at the same time (the singing is not just from the band, but from celebrities and professionals)

There will be jazz hands a plenty (and not just from Judge Rinder but from all 5 couples!)

Yesterday we learnt the dances and songs the couples will be using to make their West End Stage Musicals Week Debut performance. Here are our thoughts on their prospective performances!

Claudia and AJ will be performing a Salsa to “I just can’t wait to be king” from the Lion King!

We’re pretty sure this performance will be roar-some! It’s good to see that she’ll be performing a dance to a slower track so we’re hoping that this will earn her some tens, or we may just have to roar at Craig Revel Horwood! We love Claudia’s lift work and think that she is a brilliant little dancer who puts lots of power and fire into her dances! We cannot wait to see this routine. We think it’ll be the Cat’s pyjamas.

Danny and Oti will be performing a Tango to “One Night Only – Beyonce version” from Dreamgirls

This song is super fast. We saw Danny perform the fastest Argentine Tango this side of the galaxy a few weeks ago, and know that he is a brilliant dancer. He is good enough to be a professional dancer and we love seeing Oti’s challenging but captivating choreography. Could it earn him his third perfect score of the series? We think it will be dreamy and may well do that!

Judge Rinder and Oksana will be performing a Samba to “Oh What a Night!” From Jersey Boys!

If Judge Rinder performs this dance it is the law that he has to wear a red jacket and sing while he dances. This guy was born to perform on Musicals Week and we cannot wait to see what he has up his sleeves for his samba. He can entertain and his salsa blew the roof off the tower ballroom. We predict this could earn him his best score of the series!

Louise and Kevin will be performing a Quickstep to Deadwood Stage from Calamity Jane

Kevin always knows how to choreograph an exciting and a crowd-pleasing routine. We’re looking forward to lots of wild west accents and hope there’s a horse (or two) somewhere in the performance. Louise’s ability as a dancer is exceptional. She has made brilliant progress and her ballroom is always beautiful. We cannot wait to see her performance this weekend.

Ore and Joanne will be performing a Foxtrot to “Pure Imagination” from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Ore will be Willy Wonka. Therefore he has to give all the judges a bar of chocolate *hopes that puts Mr Revel Horwood in a better mood* Their American Smooth Foxtrot got the attention of Gene Kelly’s wife. Ore is a born performer so we’re sure this routine (with Joanne’s brilliant choreography) will be a box office hit! Could it earn him a perfect score? We have a feeling it may well do!

So those are our predictions for this weekend. Whose performance are you most looking forward to see? Tell us by tweeting @scd_support or commenting below. We look forward to hearing from you.

Strictly 2016 – Photo, GIF and Caption of the Week – Week 10

Strictly history was made on Saturday when Danny and Oti became the first couple to score a perfect 40/40 for their Samba. Whilst we were watching the show, we picked a photo, a GIF and a caption to be our photographic and video moments of the week.

Photo of the week!

Some pictures don’t need words to describe them and this is one of them. It just captures a perfect moment in this perfect dance!

GIF of the week

We couldn’t pick just one GIF so had to pick two! The first is this impressive lift from Claudia and AJ:

A slightly longer than normal #strictly GIF of the week, but this one was truly uh-may-zing! Great work @claudiafrag @aj11ace.

The second is this impressive spin section from Louise and Kevin *gets dizzy just watching them*

Caption of the week

Thank you Hannah Plumley for coming up with this week’s caption:

Those are our photo, GIF and Caption moments of the week. Just 2 more weeks until we start a poll to reveal the best Photo, GIF and Caption of the series. Watch this space!

Strictly 2016 – Bella’s Best Bits – Week 10 💃🏻👸🏻💃🏻

Those of you who follow our blog will know, that Bella has been sharing her best bits from the weekend’s shows every Monday!

As we approach the final, it’s getting harder for her to pick several dances, but this week she picked her top 5 moments! Here they are and what she thought of them:

5. Ore and Joanne’s Paso Doble

I love Joanne and Ore and thought this dance was more awesome than a lot of packs of Oreos. I think that Joanne, Karen and Kevin choreograph the best Paso Dobles. We’re used to seeing Ore and Joanne looking happy and smiley, but this week they looked Grumpy. I think Joanne must have beaten Ore at Air Hockey before they danced. I loved the dance and thought they deserved four tens it was that good!

4. Louise and Kevin’s Waltz

I thought this dance was very very sweet. I liked Louise’s dress, because it had stars all over it. It could have been better if they had lights in her dress because then it’d have looked really sparkly. I liked the spins and twirly bits and Louise did them really well. She looked like a spinning top! I thought she deserved a lot of 10s because the dance looked like a princess dance.

3. Claudia and AJ’s Argentine Tango

I like Mangos and Oranges and liked this Orangentine Mango a lot. The lifts were really cool. She looked like she was on a rollercoaster. I liked the glittery bits she had on her eyes too. It made her look like a butterfly! I think she should have got at least 2 tens for this dance. The judges were very naughty only giving her 36/40. I think I may have to tell Santa about them.

2. Strictly Pros Sports Day Routine

I wish my school sports days were this much fun. I think next year at my sports day, I’ll dance because it’ll make it more fun. I wonder if any of them got a glittery gold medal!

1. Danny and Oti’s Samba

They did a jungle style Samba and it looked roarsome, like the Lion King! It looked a lot of fun and I want to learn Samba when I am bigger. I was really happy he got 40/40, because nobody’s ever got that for a Samba before. That must make him a real champion. I hope he gets a glitterball!

So those are Bella’s favourite moments from the weekend. What were your favourite moments? Tell us by tweeting @scd_support or commenting below. We look forward to hearing from you.

Strictly 2016 – Farewell Team Glitterballs!

2016 has been a year full of shocks, so the prospect of Ed and Katya lifting the Glitterball did seem increasingly likely this year.

Tonight our hopes were dashed as Team Glitterballs’ Strictly journey came to an end.

Every year there is someone who is the underdog on Strictly. A person who although they are not the best dance, takes a place in our hearts and wins us over with their effort week after week. They may entertain through their performances, they may also surprise us but what matters most is that they truly embrace Strictly and all the sequins. This year, that person was Ed.

Over the past 10 weeks we have loved watching his dances. There have been elements of surprise (who could forget his Charleston and Gangnam Style Salsa?) moments which have shocked us (the American Smooth and lift-gate) and elements which have just made us smile.

Katya  has protected Ed but also shown her immense skill as a choreographer and teacher. She has taken many risks which would not have been possible had she not been able to trust Ed. We hope to see her back on Strictly next year.

We’re sure that this pair will remain friends for life, and we’ve already heard that Ed will keep dancing! Ed and Katya, you will be sorely missed in the quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals, but thank you for all the memories. Here are your best bits:

We’d love this post to become a tribute to Ed and Katya! Comment below with your messages of support for them below. We’ll make sure they see them.

Strictly 2016 – 💃🏻 Week 10 Performance Review! 💃🏻

Strictly always amazes us week after week and tonight was no exception! It was a night of firsts with the very first Cha Cha Challenge and the first perfect score (ever!) for a Samba! It was a truly brilliant night of performances and exquisite choreography from the Strictly Professionals who really upped the game and gave their celebrities challenging choreography. Here’s what we thought of each performance, dance by dance:

Danny and Oti’s Samba

First to take to the floor this week were Danny and Oti. They were performing a “tribal and jungle” style samba. When we heard the words jungle our eyes lit up and we could not wait to see what magic Oti had choreographed. We love Oti’s creativity and this dance was testament to her impressive choreography skills. Danny has impressed us week after week and this dance proved his impressive skill, it looked good enough to be one of the professional routines we see on Sunday’s results show. We loved it and were so pleased when they were awarded 40/40 (not least because it meant we didn’t have to roar like this at Craig!)

Ore and Joanne’s Paso Doble

The two happiest and sweetest people on Planet Strictly tonight had the task of performing a Paso Doble. We loved Joanne’s choreography and it was really good to see an agressive performance from the pair of them. We have a feeling they may have had a falling out over a game of air hockey, given the setting of their dance. The choreography was innovative, and just like her brother, Joanne produced a beautiful Paso Doble. Ore performed the dance brilliantly, and we had hoped it would also get four tens. The judges were feeling less generous, awarding him a total of 36/40. It also led us to ask you this question:

Louise and Kevin’s Waltz

We love a bit of Buble, and Kevin from Grimsby choreography with Buble combined is true magic. Yes, we’ll admit it, we did blub like babies watching their waltz. It was truly beautiful and very fitting to the music. If you didn’t cry there was something seriously wrong with you! The pair of them shone like stars on the Strictly dance floor and it made us feel all warm and fluffy inside. We thought it deserved a 10, the judges awarded them 39/40! (Craig obviously didn’t feel the same way as us!)

Judge Rinder and Oksana’s Rumba

We learnt that this was a tribute to Oksana as a teacher, more than a romantic rumba. We love the Judge and his partnership with Oksana. This dance was an adorable and heartfelt Rumba. The storytelling was very emotional and moved us. The song was far too slow for a Rumba, but Oksana gave the judge some beautiful choreography which he danced very well. In our opinion he deserved an 8, the judges awarded him 29/40.

Ed and Katya’s Tango

The anticipation of watching this couple week after week is the stuff of legend! It’s something we look forward to. Ed embodies all that is brilliant about Strictly. Yes, he’s not the best dancer, but he knows how to perform and entertain. He was channeling Zoolander in this dance and it was a lot of fun to watch. It may not have made Mr Grumpy (Craig) smile, but it did make us smile. We thought it deserved a 7. The judges awarded him 23/40.

Claudia and AJ’s Argentine Tango

We love Argentine Tangos and this specimen was no exception to the rule. The choreography was sharp, and had the perfect balance of tricks and steps. Together they smouldered on the floor and the lifts were truly exquisite! We even picked one as our Strictly GIF of the week, it was that good:

A slightly longer than normal #strictly GIF of the week, but this one was truly uh-may-zing! Great work @claudiafrag @aj11ace.

A post shared by Strictly Support Group (@scd_support) on

We really felt the dance was worthy of tens, but the judges disagreed and awarded her 36/40!

Cha Cha Challenge

Yes, in past years the couples have heard, rehearsed and practised their steps for the swingathon, waltzathon, quickstepathon etc. This year we learnt that the rules had changed in so far as they had not heard the music before. It was just like a latin competition! We saw impressive steps from Claudia, Ore, Danny and Louise and some interesting steps from Ed!

The judges chose this as the order:

6th – Ed

5th – Judge Rinder

4th – Claudia

3rd – Ore

2nd – Danny

1st – Louise

This then left Danny and Louise tied in 1st place, with Ore in 3rd place, Claudia in 4th, Judge Rinder in 5th and Ed in 6th!

My little girl did make me smile when she declared “Ed and Katya didn’t come last mummy, they came 6th (which is better than last!”

And that ended tonight’s show. We’d love to hear who your favourites were tonight. Just vote in this poll below:

We’ll be back tomorrow night from 7pm, tweeting along with the live results show. We hope to see you then.

Strictly 2016 – Our Week 10 Predictions

Yes, we can hardly believe it! There are just 4 more Strictly episodes until the end of the series. Only yesterday our couples took their first steps on the Strictly dance floor and now we’re approaching the quarter finals.

On Saturday our final 6 couples will take to the floor. Here’s what they will dancing to and our predictions:

Claudia and AJ will be dancing the Argentine Tango to ‘Cry Me A River’ by Justin Timberlake – We love this song. We’re unsure what the arrangement will sound like but think it’ll be an interesting performance. We’re looking forward to see the choreography and watch Claudia show some true Argentinian power and drama. Could it score her her first 10s of the series? We hope so!

Danny and Oti will be dancing the Samba to ‘Magalenha’ by Sergio Mendes – Danny has proven he can perform at high speed. We’re pretty sure this dance will be fast, furious and fab-u-lous. We hope it’ll earn them yet another perfect score (if Craig feels generous again!)

Ed and Katya will be dancing the Tango to ‘(I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction’ by The Rolling Stones – The underdog is performing a Tango! We can’t wait to see his Tango face but are sure it’ll be entertaining and an unmissable performance.

Judge Rinder and Oksana will be dancing the Rumba to ‘Lean On Me’ by Bill Withers – Can the judge do passion and romance? We think he can. We’ve had three great male rumbas this year and think this could be a fourth brilliant one!

Louise and Kevin will be dancing the Waltz to ‘At This Moment’ by Michael Buble – Louise oozes style and elegance! We love a bit of Bublé and Kevin’s choreography is always imaginative and creative. This dance will definitely be romantic and we think it could score a perfect 40/40!

Ore and Joanne will be dancing the Paso Doble to ‘Everybody Wants To Rule The World’ by Lorde – Last Saturday we saw a brilliant Paso Doble performed by Louise and Kevin! We know that Ore is a born performer and think that this dance could be spectacular! We love the song choice too.

So those are our predictions of what will happen this weekend on the dancefloor! If you haven’t already done so, you can listen to this year’s Strictly tunes by following our Spotify playlist:

We’d love to hear what you think of this week’s dances. Tell us by tweeting @scd_support or commenting below to let us know.

Strictly 2016 – Photo, GIF and Caption of the Week – Blackpool

It’s that time of the week again!

Yes, time for us to delve deep into Strictly memories of Blackpool and share with you our photo, GIF and caption of the week!

Photo of the week:

We have one word for this photo… Slay!

It captures a perfect powerful moment during the best Paso Doble! Kevin sure knows how to choreograph a Paso Doble and this moment captures the power and drama of the Paso perfectly!

GIF of the week:

We have one word for this GIF…. Wow!

Throughout the series we will always see one couple who are in perfect sync from the very start. This year, there are many but one of them is Danny and Oti! This cartwheel demonstrates that as well as the risks that  Oti is taking, giving Danny such challenging choreography!

Caption of the week:

Some moments just need to be captioned and this is one of them:

We asked you to come up with a caption for this picture! We had some wonderful suggestions, but this one is our favourite:

Those are our picture, caption and GIF of the week. What were your eye-catching moments from Saturday’s show? Tell us by tweeting @scd_support or commenting below. We look forward to hearing from you.

Strictly 2016 – Bella’s Best Bits – Week 9 👸🏻

Those of you who follow our blog may know by now that Mondays (as well as being time for Bella to go back to school) are time for Bella to share her best bits with you!

This week was an unusual situation as we found ourselves watching Strictly in hospital. Bella had a burst appendix on Friday and is currently being very well looked after by the nurses and doctors at our local hospital. To ensure she could watch Strictly (as well as to help her in her recovery) over the weekend we had a private room which was decorated with glitterballs and lights to make it feel just like home.

I asked her to tell me her 3 favourite parts from Saturday’s show! Here they are as well as her thoughts on each dance!

3. Judge Rinder and Oksana’s Salsa

I liked this dance a lot because it was very colourful! Judge Rinder and Oksana looked like two colourful parrots. I like parrots a lot and thought this dance was a lot of fun. I didn’t see it first time because I fell asleep, but mummy made me watch it again yesterday and it really made me smile.

2. Danny and Oti’s Charleston

This was so fast and fab-u-lous! I really like Danny. When I’m better, I really want to go to a restaurant where they dance like this because it looks like it’d be a lot of fun! Oti gave Danny lots of very hard choreography which he did so well. I was really happy when they got 4 10s!

1 Louise and Kevin’s Paso Doble!

If I’m ever on Strictly, I want to be paired with Kevin because he is the king of the Paso Doble. I really loved this dance and I thought they looked fab-u-lous (even if Kevin had pen around his eyes!) Karen was also there, so I asked my mummy to vote for Louise, Kevin and Karen! I thought they should have got 4 10s because this dance was fab-u-lous!

So those are Bella’s 3 favourite best bits from Blackpool Strictly. What were your favourite bits from Saturday night’s show? Tell us by tweeting @scd_support or commenting below. We look forward to hearing from you.

Strictly 2016 – Farewell Greg and Natalie!

Strictly 2016 has been a series of shocks and tonight’s dance off was no exception. Yes, we saw Claudia and AJ go head to head in a clash of the Olympians with Greg and Natalie. It was an olympic effort from both couples. We’re glad we weren’t judges as it was too close to call. We’d have loved them both to have been able to stay into week 10, but sadly the judges chose to send Greg and Natalie home!

My 6 year old was concerned that by leaving the competition that would mean they would have to stay in Blackpool forever and ever.

Over the past 9 weeks, Greg and Natalie have been electric and lit up the dancefloor. Greg’s ballroom skill has been amazing and he showed his ability in the Latin dances too. Natalie’s choreography this year has been truly amazing. They have been a magical pairing and in our eyes deserve a glittery medal for services to Strictly. They will definitely be missed next week. On leaving the show he said it had been the best thing he’d done in his life and we’re sure that they will remain friends for life!

Here are their best bits in picture form:

We’d like this post to become a tribute to them! Comment below with your messages for them and we’ll make sure they see them.

Strictly 2016 – The Magnificent Sev-ern Head to Blackpool! 🏖🍭💃🏻🍭🏖

Tonight the magnificent sev-ern hit Blackpool for a truly brilliant night in the Tower Ballroom! We packed our buckets and spades and headed to the seaside (well almost!) to watch a spectacular show.

It was a night of firsts:

Claudia’s first trip to Blackpool

Joanne’s first performance at the Tower Ballroom with a Celebrity on Strictly

And we also had the first perfect 40 score of the series for Danny and Oti with their wonderful Charleston!

Overall it was a brilliant night of dance and was even better than we expected. Here’s what we thought of each of the dances, performance by performance!

The show opened to what can only be described as the best group dance ever! It was performed to One from a Chorus Line (one of our favourite musicals) and was full of class, glitz and glamour! Just like Strictly. We loved it and it set the tone for the evening ahead.

First up to perform were Claudia and AJ who performed the fastest Jive ever to Hey Mickey! They were cheerleaders and the routine had so much energy and joy. Week after week we will Claudia and AJ on to do well. They are truly adorable. It was a shame that there was a slight slip in the middle. The choreography was fast and fantastic and overall we thought it deserved a 9! The judges awarded Claudia 36/40.

Next up were Ore and Joanne they were performing a Viennese Waltz to “That’s Life!” It was a routine filled with glamour and glitz. Joanne looked gorgeous, just like Marilyn Monroe and her choreography had so much movement and coverage across the floor as well as the longest fleckerl ever! The dance itself was beautiful. We thought they deserved a 10. The judges awarded them 38/40!

Louise and Kevin (AKA The King of Paso) then took to the floor with a fiery and dramatic Paso Doble! Kevin’s choreography every year excites us and his paso dobles are the stuff of legend! This was truly powerful routine with beautiful choreography. Louise was on fire and matched Kevin perfectly! (it was lovely to see Karen dancing in the background to!) We hoped they would get 40/40, the judges also awarded them 38/40!

Danny and Oti then wowed us with a wonderful Charleston. Week after week Danny amazes us and looks like a professional on the floor! Oti’s choreography is challenging and their performances are always imaginative and brilliant! We loved the whole dance and awarded them a 10! The judges agreed with Craig finally pulling out his 10 paddle (yes it does exist!) and awarding them 40/40!

Ed and Katya were next to entertain us with a truly unique but amazing Jive! We love Ed and he always tries his best. He really does deserve his place in the competition. It wasn’t technically perfect but it filled us with joy! We loved it and thought they should get a 7. The judges awarded them 23/40 (including a 4 from Craig!)

The penultimate couple of the evening were Greg and Natalie who performed a quickstep. We learnt that Natalie was struggling to keep up with Greg in training (he was dancing so fast!) It was a dance that made us smile and was fast, fun and fab-u-lous! We thought they deserved a 9. The judges awarded them 32/40!

The final couple to take to the floor were Judge Rinder and Oksana. They were performing a spicy Salsa! He had brilliant hip action and their outfits made us feel like we were at a carnival. He performed the choreography brilliantly. We loved the whole routine as it filled us with joy! In our opinion he deserved a 10. The judges gave him 33/40!

So who were your favourites tonight? Tell us by tweeting @scd_support or commenting below. We’ll be back tomorrow night from 7pm tweeting along with the results show.

Cassie 🙂
