Strictly Come Dancing Live 2015 – A Tour Review Straight From the O2

Last night, we donned as much glitter as is humanly possible (glittery top, eyeshadow, shoes, bag and nail varnish) and headed off to the O2, hoping we wouldn’t get mistaken for the glitterball and to watch the spectacular show that is Strictly Come Dancing Live. Fortunately, the human glitterball that is Steve Backshall was in the audience, so we were safe *wipes sweat off brow* phew!

We took our seats (which were a-may-zing (thanks to my lovely husband)) and waited for the action to start

We weren’t to be disappointed and were in for a true treat from the magnificent seven couples, as well as surprise performances from the tour judges too!

There were routines for everyone from crowd-pleasing, memorable and entertaining routines like Scott and Joanne’s Samba, Thom and Iveta’s Salsa and Alison and Aljaz’s Charleston to polished performances like Mark and Karen’s Foxtrot, Caroline and Tristan’s American Smooth and Charleston as well as Rachel and Kevin’s gorgeous Tango and Rumba. There were also true moments of perfection like Simon and Kristina’s amazing Argentine Tango (he has most certainly dethroned Ramps as the king of the Argentine Tango.) as well as fab-u-lous group dances like the “Let it Go” routine and the Jackson Medley from Blackpool.

We also got to witness the legendary showdance from Tom Chambers and Camilla Dallerup, as well Craig’s singing (he has a brilliant singing voice!) and were treated to some classic moments from Len as he joined the judging panel especially for us Londoners.

Zoe Ball was a fantastic, natural compere and host, getting the whole O2 involved in the show and making everyone smile! She did a fab-u-lous job

My young Strictly Fan’s favourite part had to be Ariel Joanne and Scott’s Crabby Samba, which had her dancing along throughout the show as well as on the way home (and persuading mummy to vote for them several times.)

My husband’s favourite routine was Rachel and Kevin’s Rumba and Tango (I had to remind him to close his mouth as flies were in danger of making him choke πŸ˜‰

I on the other hand had several favourite routines:
Mark and Karen’s Foxtrot (just LOVE-ly)
Alison and Aljaz’s Cha Cha Cha (one for all us ladies!)
Rachel and Kevin’s Rumba (which made my eyes slightly leaky)
Thom and Iveta’s Salsa (which left me feeling a little flushed!)
Simon and Kristina’s Argentine Tango (goosebump inducingly good!)
Caroline and Tristan’s perfect American Smooth and Charleston (Which were even better seeing in the flesh than on TV)

We also had several favourite moments, including Kevin’s impressions of Vincent Simone (comedy genius,) Simon’s singing for a 10 and Thom’s peck moving to the Strictly theme tune.

Once again, it wasn’t just down to the pros, celebs, judges and hosts to make it a great evening as the band and singers all did an amazing job! They are truly talented and make the show what it is.

We had an amazing night and would definitely give the show a 10/10. Having seen the tour before, this year’s tour was the best ever and has truly got us looking forward to next year’s Strictly tour already.

If you’ve been to see the show, we’d love to hear what you thought of it and would love to hear your favourite moments of the tour. Just tweet us @scd_support or comment below. We look forward to hearing from you. We’ll leave you with some fab-u-lous video footage of our evening:

Strictly Tour 2015 – A Q and A with two of our fave professionals @karen_hauer and @keviclifton

The Strictly Tour is here and once again we have a bit of glitter back in our lives. Before the tour, we asked you to put forward questions for some of the Strictly tour cast! You suggested some fab-u-lous questions for all the interviews. Today’s Q and A is with two of our favourite professionals Karen and Kevin!

Here they are in action on the tour in what appears to be a dance-off which we cannot wait to see! (pics credit to @Imbirmingham)

We began by asking them which dances they’ll be performing and what they love most about doing the tour:
Karen – Mark and I will be performing Cha Cha Cha and Foxtrot.
Kevin – Rachel and I will be performing Tango and Rumba.

We really love the sound of these dances – they’re some of our all-time favourite Strictly routines.

Karen and Kevin – The best part of the tour is getting to see all the amazing support and love from all the strictly fans. Every night is absolutely brilliant. Kevin loves his fake tan too much (haha!) And I love the catering a lil too much as well! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Fake tan and food sounds like a great combination! So how have rehearsals gone? Kevin, you’ll be dancing with a new partner. How does that feel?

Kevin and Karen – Rehearsals have been long but actually lots of fun. It’s an amazing production this year and we are all really excited to perform in every city.

Kevin – Dancing with Rachel has been amazing. I’m really impressed with how quickly she picked up all the routines and how well we get along. She’s a beautiful dancer and a really sweet person. Really miss Frankie and wish her the best.

We all wish Frankie the best too! You’ve both performed on the Strictly Tour before, which venue is the best in your opinion and why?

Karen and Kevin – We love all the venues but the one that really stands out is Glasgow. We absolutely love it there. The crowd is just absolutely off the radar! We get a huge buzz backstage before going on.

Last year, your oscar-worthy vote pleas made us smile. Do you have any tricks up your sleeve to make this year’s tour even more spectacularly fab-u-lous?

Karen and Kevin– Every year we try to bring something new and special to the tour especially when we get to talk in the mic. We did enjoy pleading for votes. This year we will surprise everyone once again hahaha!

*Starts thinking of what they could be planning and overworks her brain* Sounds so much fun! We cannot wait!

What can the fans expect from this year’s tour?

Karen and Kevin – This year’s tour is absolutely brilliant. There are lots of exciting numbers and the costumes are just gorgeous. Its an absolute pleasure to be out there every night .

We’re pretty sure anyone who hasn’t already booked tickets is now searching for a show to go to! It sounds truly amazing. We cannot wait to see the show next month.

Our final question came from @taylorhay131 who asks when did you both start dancing?

Karen and Kevin– Hi @taylorhay131. Kevin started dancing when he was 4yrs old and I started dancing when I was 8yrs old.
Love ya back x

Thank you Kevin and Karen for taking part in our Q&A, it’s really got us super-excited about the tour. We’ll have more Q&As coming very soon, so watch this space!
