Take Your Dog To Work Day – A Strictly Support Group Take On Events!

They say, never work with children or animals! Having worked with children, we know it’s not that bad. We’ve never worked with animals before, but imagine it’d be relaxing and filled with hugs.

Today is take your dog to work day. Or in Anton’s case, deal with two petrified dalmatians live on national TV! Yes, our furry canine companions have made appearances on Strictly too.

Over the last 12 series, we have seen 3 canine companions (Toto, Perdita and Perdy) play an integral part in performances.

We’d love to find out from you which canine companion deserved the golden bone and which one was in the dog house. Watch the videos below, then vote for your favourite in the poll. We’ll reveal the winner at 7.30pm tonight!

Get voting people (and canine companions!)

Monday Memory – Game, Set and Match! A Dance We’ve Fallen in LOVE With!

Today is the start of Wimbledon! For the next two weeks we’ll be gorging ourselves on Strawberries and cream as well as hosting our Wimbledon-Themed Strictly Support Group (without wombles!)

For today’s dance, we’re watching a tennis themed dance and practising our backhand flying a kite 😕 with Judy Murray and Anton Du Beke and their Viennese Waltz from Blackpool.

Although Judy wasn’t the strongest contestant on Strictly 2014, she really entertained us and this dance, as her best dance was entertaining, beautiful, light and elegant (just like flying a kite should be!) Judy’s dress was beautiful (we want one!) and the music, well, who doesn’t love Mary Poppins?

We loved it and would definitely give it at least 1 game point (not LOVE.) Here are Judy and Anton with their twirling, fab-u-lous Viennese Waltz:

We’d love to hear what you thought of that dance. Would you award it Love, 15, 30, 40 or Game, Set and Match? Tweet us @scd_support or comment below to let us know.

We’re off to enjoy some strawberries and cream, but will be back later to launch our Summer Giveaway!

Tango Tuesday – A Formidable, Unforgettable and Flying Routine

In a few weeks time, Britain will go to the polls for the General Election. As you will know, here at the Strictly Support Group, we know that there is no better way to decide our favourite Strictly Couples than with a poll!

In the run-up to the Strictly Support Group General Election, today’s Tango is an unforgettable, formidable, flying routine. It’s the sort of dance that words cannot describe and has gone down in history as one of the most memorable moments on Strictly.

Yes, today we’re watching Ann and Anton’s Tango. It was a dance that made us smile and was pure entertainment! If it were for entertainment alone, it deserved 10/10.

We hope it makes you smile today, so here are Ann and Anton with their Tango.

We’ll be hosting the Strictly Support Group General Election over the next couple of weeks. We’ll be asking you to vote for your favourite party/partnership who will be crowned Prime Minister & Deputy Prime Minister on Friday 8th May. Keep your eyes peeled for our Party Political Broadcasts coming soon!

We’d love to hear what you thought of today’s Tango Tuesday. Tweet us @scd_support or comment below. We look forward to hearing from you.

Smooth Sunday – 101 Reasons to Read this Post (most of them are fluffy!)

We’ve gone a little Disney mad over the last few days and today’s Smooth Sunday fix is no exception. You all know how the saying goes never work with animals or children. Well, today’s dance proved that animals don’t always perform how you expect them to, but Perdy and Perdita definitely looked fab-u-lous and furry during their dogography.

Yes, today we’re watching Judy and Anton’s Doggy-inspired American Smooth. There are 101 reasons that we enjoyed this routine. Well, almost 101! Here are some of them:

1) Although not technically perfect it was entertaining.

2) The doggies looked adorable and we wanted to take one home too (we’re not Cruella De Vil, honestly!)

3) The costumes and concept of the whole dance were wonderful and truly made us smile

4) Anton’s choreography as ever was brilliant and played to Judy’s strengths.

We could go on forever about why we enjoyed this dance, but it was one of those moments on Strictly which we loved. It is unforgettable and will go down in Strictly history.

In case you missed it earlier, here are Judy and Anton with their dogography-filled American Smooth:

We hope you enjoyed it and would love to hear what you thought of it. Tweet us @scd_support or comment below. Just for you, we’ve also created you a Disney inspired spotify playlist and a youtube playlist. Click the links below to watch them. We hope you enjoy listening to and watching them:

🍀 Your St. Patrick’s Day Strictly Fixes! 🍀

Today is St. Patrick’s Day, so we wish all our Irish followers a great day and hope you enjoy celebrating. Now, we wouldn’t be the Strictly Support Group if we didn’t treat you to a daily dose of something strictlified! Today, we’re treating you lovely folk to two dances, both with an Irish flavour.

Our First Strictly fix was our Tango Tuesday fix, from Nicky Byrne and Karen Hauer. We watched their phenomenal Argentine Tango. When we first saw it, it sent shivers up our spine and gave us goosebumps. It was so good and in our eyes deserved 4 10s!

https://youtu.be/V8-kJn2sD_Y

St. Patrick’s Day wouldn’t be complete without some good old-fashioned Irish Dancing, so for a second (yes we showed you two dances) Strictly Fix, we showed you this fab-u-lous routine from our Strictly Pros and the wonderful Riverdance crew. It was truly amazing, not only because Tristan was in it, and has to be watched.

https://youtu.be/0mWSY-NeG3M

We hope you enjoyed watching both our Strictly Fixes today. We’d love to hear what you thought of them. Tweet us @scd_support or comment in the box below. We look forward to hearing from you.

Don’t forget! Lucky the Leprechaun will be on twitter from 7.30pm tonight for our St Patrick’s Day chat. We hope you can join us then!

Anton and Erin at the Albert Hall – A Review by @suzannemayes

A few weeks ago, just before Christmas, the lovely Anton du Beke and Erin Boag performed at the Royal Albert Hall. Sadly, we couldn’t go, but the lovely Suzanne went along and agreed to review the show for our blog. Here’s what she thought:

A fabulous afternoon of music song and dance at The Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 21st December.

Anton & Erin were joined by the Southend Girls & Boys Choir, Capital Voices & London Concert Orchestra. It was a fantastic display of dancing from the king & queen of ballroom, Anton & Erin.

There was great audience participation for a rendition of the 12 Days of Christmas, with singing and actions from the whole audience. Anton & Erin were also joined on stage by Maddie & Jamie, the young ballrrom dancers which were recently featured on It Takes Two.

We were also treated to song & dance duets from Anton and Lance Ellington (SCD Singer), and several renditions of classic christmas carols. Anton kept the audience entertained with his great sense of humour! A fantastic afternoon was had by all!

Thank you for reviewing the show Suzanne! It sounds like truly great festive fun. We’re hoping to see the show if it comes back next year, it sounds truly amazing. If you’ve been to see a show and would like to review if for our blog, just let us know and we’ll make your dreams come true.

We look forward to hearing from you.

It Takes Two – Monday 17th November 2014

We haven’t done a review of It Takes Two for a couple of weeks, but tonight we had the chance to watch the show! Hoorah!

Tonight we saw Jake and Janette, Judy and Anton and Craig.

We were taken behind the scenes at Blackpool where we learnt that:
Steve felt like he was in Narnia in the group routine
Alison couldn’t miss Blackpool for the world
Zoe raved with her dad in Blackpool

We then saw Jake and Janette and learnt:
Jake was glad he had time to practice and give the routine justice and glad the judges felt he did.
Janette is proud of her student and their highest ever score.
Jake nearly dropped Janette in rehearsals.
Janette is super flexible, really little and trusting in her partner. Don’t try her split lift at home unless you are a professional.
Janette wants to make Jake shine.
They’re doing Samba this week. Snakeyjakey is back!

Craig Revel Horwood then twirled into and broke the It Takes Two studio!
He loved Blackpool!
He thinks there is lots of talent this year.
He loved Jake, he wants Frankie to be perfect, he was disappointed with Sunetra, he felt Simon was stiff, he’s in love with Mark (so are we,) he also loves Pixie, he hates Steve’s hands, he thinks Caroline is a joy to watch and has loved Judy backstage (even if she hit him twice!)

Judy and Anton then appeared for their final It Takes Two interview. We learnt:
Judy loved performing in Blackpool
Anton was impressed with Judy’s progress over the last few weeks.
She’s going to miss dancing with Anton. Her highlight was dressing up as Cruella de Vil.
She is going to do a Guest appearance on Anton’s tour in Scotland!

That was tonight’s It Takes Two. We hope you enjoyed our review!

Goodbye Team Jubeke

Last night, Judy and Anton waved goodbye to the ballroom after 8 weeks. They sure have entertained us and will be missed by many.

From us, thank you for filling our weekends with sheer joy. Judy you have improved, so ignore the judges and we hope you keep dancing. Your Viennese Waltz was beautiful and you went out flying (literally and metaphorically) as high as a kite.

Here’s a little something from us:

Here are some of our favourite comments from the stars of our favourite show:

We want to make this post a tribute to Team Jubeke! Comment below with your messages for them and we’ll make sure they see them.

Strictly 2014 – Results Show Recap – It’s “E” word time

All week long in my house we’ve been avoiding mentioning the “E” word as we hate saying goodbye. The standard this year on Strictly is so high and we love everyone in the class of 2014 that Sundays are going to get very emosh! We prepared ourselves with an extra box of tissues, some Haribo Minions as Strictly snacks and a nice Cuppa. With that we sat down ready to watch the very first Results Show.

We saw couples saved one by one. Our favourite safety reactions have to be from Kevin Clifton, Natalie Lowe and Anton Du Beke along with Alison Hammond, Ola Jordan and Joanne Clifton (who looked confused more than anything to have got through!)

We know there’s only one way to decide the best safety reaction and that’s with a poll. Alison Hammond’s yelping made our labrador extremely excited and Natalie Lowe’s joy was our favourite reaction ever. Joanne’s confusion and seeking of reassurance from Scott made us want to give both of them a huge hug. Just vote below to choose your favourite reaction of the night:

With 13 couples safe, it was revealed that Jennifer Gibney and Tristan Macmanus along with Gregg Wallace and Aliona Vilani were in the dance off. Someone at Strictly HQ must have been busy baking cakes, as a whole new sponge cake materialised. Both couples really improved their performance, and it seemed from tweets on our timeline lots of you thought that neither of these couples deserved to be in the dance off:

Do you think the correct couples were in the dance off? Vote in the poll below to let us know:

In the end, Gregg’s glitterball dreams crumbled and he was eliminated from the competition. He was gracious in defeat and thanked Aliona for her patience. Gregg, you may have only been in the competition for 2 weeks, but you cooked up a storm on the dancefloor and will not be forgotten! We’re making a little something for Gregg and Aliona as we will for all our couples who are eliminated from the show. To take part and leave your message, click
here before Thursday. We’ll make sure they see it too.

We also saw an amazing Frozen routine from our professional dancers. My 4 year old has decided that Joanne from Grimsby is actually Princess Anna from Arundelle. She’s also decided that Natalie Lowe, Kristina Rihanoff and Ola Jordan are Princess Elsa. Once again the Strictly production team choreographers, band and singers, costume designers, professional dancers and creative team excelled themselves. Just as we thought our professional routines couldn’t get any better, they do! Can’t wait to see what they have up their sleeves for Movie Week next week.

Lens Lens was back with a Tango Face off between Scott Mills and Caroline Flack. We think Scott deserved to win for cuteness, but for sheer drama Caroline wins.

IMG_2876.JPG

The quote of the night came from Claudia, who when quizzing Judy Murray about how she felt being safe and not in the dance off said “Describing Anton as a wooden racket is not a nice way to describe your dance partner!”

Thank you to all who took part tonight in our chat. We’d love to hear what you thought if you didn’t get the chance to take part. Do you think the right couples were in the dance off? Who do you think had the best safety reaction and tango face of the night? What was your favourite quote of the evening and what dance would you like to see our couples perform on Movie Week next week? Tweet us @scd_support or comment in the box below. We look forward to hearing from you.

That ends our results show recap. We’re taking a few days off to spend some time relaxing at a spa. We’ll be back on Wednesday but in the meantime, @strictlylucy2 will be hosting It Takes Two chats on our Twitter feed @scd_support.

Cassie 🙂
