Strictly Support Group – The Election (Day 7!) Polling Day is Here!

Earlier this morning, we revealed our final two candidates in our Strictly Support Group General Election! We love the Charleston and today’s two candidates were pure gold! One triumphed for having a cool, laid-back vibe and the other was quirky, cheeky and pure entertainment! They are Sophie and Brendan’s and Chris and Ola’s fab-u-lous Charlestons!

Watching these dances, it’s easy to see why they both deserve their places in the Election:

1) Every election needs a peoples’ champion, and this dance helped Chris and Ola win Strictly 2009. It was cheeky, quirky and captured Chris’s personality perfectly. Both he and Ola looked adorable, in fact more adorable than your favourite politician holding a baby or a puppy or a kitten or something cute!

2) Being a politician is all about remaining cool under pressure and Sophie and Brendan did this perfectly. There

were risky lifts, acrobatics and super fast choreography. All of these were performed perfectly in WEEK 2! The whole routine was brilliant and is deserving of a place in our election for being the leader of the pack. We loved both of them and hope you will too, so here are both dances we showed earlier:

Chris and Ola’s Charleston.

Now you’ve seen all our dances, here’s a reminder of the candidates (in video form):

Strictly Support Group – The Election (Day 4)

We’re making the most of the pre-election Bank Holiday weekend today, with the fourth candidate for our Strictly Support Group Election.

Today’s Smooth Sunday comes from Gethin Jones and Camilla Dallerup. Although they left in the semi-finals of Strictly 2007, we felt they were both worthy contenders for the glitterball and today’s dance showed us just why.

For a male celebrity, learning to lead their female professional across the ballroom floor can be the most challenging part of Strictly, and Gethin mastered this brilliantly.

The routine was soft, elegant and flowing. It made us feel all warm and fuzzy inside. Camilla’s choreography was perfect for Gethin’s strengths and the music and costumes were brilliant too.

We loved this routine and hope you will too. Here are Gethin and Camilla with their fab-u-lous American Smooth:

Don’t forget to let us know what you thought of that dance. You can tweet us @scd_support or comment below. We look forward to hearing from you.

So, Gethin and Camilla join Mark and Iveta, Alesha and Matthew and Chelsee and Pasha as candidates in the Strictly Support Group election. Who will be tomorrow’s candidates? Come back tomorrow to find out. On Wednesday afternoon, we’ll launch our poll giving you all the chance to vote for your Strictly Support Group Prime Minister(s.)

Monday Memory – The Great Strictly Support Group Quickstep-Off!

On Saturday we hosted the very first Great Strictly Support Group Dance-Off (think Great British Bake Off, but without Mary Berry/Paul Hollywood or cake, but with lots of glitter and sparkle from the Strictly dancefloor!) It was very popular and you all seemed to enjoy it, so we’ve decided to kickstart your week with a Quickstep-off.

We’ve chosen two wonderful quicksteps. Once you’ve seen them, all you’ll need to do is vote in the poll below to pick your favourite. We’ll then reveal the overall winners just after 8pm tonight!

Quickstep 1 – Frankie and Kevin:

Quickstep 2 – Tom and Camilla:

For us, both these dances were just as a-may-zing as one another and we can hardly separate them. We are calling on you, the wonderful members of the Strictly Support Group to choose your favourite. Just vote in the poll below to choose your winner.

We’ll crown the winner just after 8pm before our quickfire quiz. Get voting people!

Throwback Thursday – We’re (quick)stepping out with two of our tour judges!

Today excitement levels in my house are off the scale! My 4 yr old strictly fan , Bella, is off to see the tour with her grandma and auntie, and it’s been the topic of conversation all day in our house.

To get her in the mood for tonight’s show, I decided to show you lovely people (and her of course) this wonderful quickstep from two of our tour judges, Tom and Camilla. She wasn’t even born when these two competed and won Strictly, so (as a mum) I felt it only fair to show her some of their best bits.

For today’s Throwback Thursday, she’s picked her favourite of their dances, their Quickstep. Bella liked this dance because they were really fast and ran across the dance floor so quickly, they should have won a medal (as well as a glitterball!) She also liked Camilla’s dress because it was pretty and orange (not pink!) She liked the music and choreography and wants to dance like that when she’s older.

I think she’s chosen a great dance and I hope you will too. Here is Bella’s choice for today, Tom and Camilla’s quickstep. We both hope you enjoy it:

We’d love to hear what you thought of that dance. Tweet @scd_support or comment below. We look forward to hearing from you.

Smooth Sunday – A Chilled Out Dance Perfect for Sunday

Last night, some couples wowed us with their dancing and some let nerves get the better of them. Today, we’re watching Gethin and Camilla’s fabulous American Smooth.

Camilla’s choreography on Strictly was creative, inventive and original. We do miss seeing her on the show, but this dance highlighted all these elements and Gethin performed it beautifully. Camilla’s yellow dress was beautiful too.

This dance was super smooth and relaxed and is guaranteed to get rid of any pre-results show nerves you may have. We know that last night you’d have been feeling extra tense voting for your favourites, so really hope this helps and would love to hear what you thought of it. Here are Gethin and Camilla with their American Smooth.

We’ll be here tonight for the results show with a chat. Hope you can join us then.

Tango Tuesday – We’ve got our eyes glued on this one

Warning! This dance may cause you to go a little bit cross-eyed like this guy:

Now we’ve got that warning out of the way, for today’s Tango Tuesday, we’re going all the way back to 2007, to watch this amazing Argentine Tango from Camilla Dallerup and Gethin Jones.

These two had their gaze fixed on one another throughout the dance! We’re surprised they didn’t go cross eyed. It was so tense and had so much passion, we were reaching for the chocolates and snacks throughout this dance hooked on the drama of the whole routine.

Although the judges criticised this dance for not being passionate enough, we loved it and felt like we were watching something private and personal. Camilla’s choreography, as ever was imaginative and suited the music perfectly. It’s safe to say, we loved this dance and thought it was the perfect routine to show you this Tango Tuesday, even if they did go home that same week. We hope you enjoy watching it:

Salsa Saturday – A Red Hot Dance

Today’s Salsa Saturday fix comes with a Fan supplied, as it’s about to get very hot, red hot and so hot, it may in fact hurt you to touch your touchscreens (well that’s a little exaggeration, but it will get hot!)

For today’s dance we’re going back to 2008 to watch Tom Chambers and Camilla Dallerup’s amazing dance. This dance scored them 36 points when they first danced it, then a score of 38 in the final!

It was truly phenomenal. Here’s what we loved about the dance:
1) Camilla’s dress was gorgeous! We loved the colour and detail
2) It was danced to traditional Salsa music, which made us feel like we’d been taken on holiday to Cuba.
3) The choreography was creative, and inventive – as are all of Camilla’s routines.
4) It featured lots of spins and tricky armographywhich were out of this world
5) Tom’s hip action made us fall in love with him even more 😍 I think half the female population of the UK felt the same way.

This dance was truly HOT and made us vote for them, as much as their showdance did, leading to them eventually winning the competition. We loved it and hope you will too. Here is Tom and Camilla’s smokin’ Salsa:

We’d love to hear what you thought of that dance. Tweet us @scd_support or comment in the box below. We look forward to hear from you. Don’t forget tonight we also have our Strictly Support Group Chat from 8pm

Throwback Thursday – A knee-sliding, kick-ball changing, powerhouse of a jive! Boom!

For today’s Throwback Thursday we’re taking you back to 2007, and the week when Gethin Jones came out of his shell, with a powerhouse of a Jive!

When we saw this dance we were amazed! Gethin kicked, flicked and thundered his way across the ballroom floor. He had truly transformed into a ballroom and latin dancer and with the help of his professional partner Camilla Dallerup, received a fab-u-lous 37 out of 40 for this dance from the judges, even if Len made a comment that Gethin looked like Bruno walking down Oxford Street.

We loved the creative and original choreography, the charisma and the colour in this routine (Camilla’s dress gave us serious dress envy) and wanted to try a knee slide at home. Unfortunately it had mixed results and we nearly knocked the dog over! (Sorry Daisy!)

On a more serious note, this dance secured Gethin’s place in the Semi-Finals, and for us he was definitely the most improved contestant on series 5 of Strictly Come Dancing.

We hope you enjoy watching this dance as much as we did. Here it is, just for you Gethin and Camilla’s Jive. Boom!

We’d love to hear what you thought of this dance. Tweet us your thoughts @scd_support or comment in the box below. We’d look forward to hearing from you.

Throwback Thursday – A step back in time and a step across the pond

For today’s Throwback Thursday we’re going back to 2008 and taking a trip to the U S of A to rewatch Tom and Camilla’s fabulous American Smooth.

We loved this dance for several reasons:
1. Camilla’s choreography was imaginative, creative and exquisite
2. The music and costumes were amazing and added to the feel of the dance
3. The dancing was brilliant and deserving of 10s in our honest opinion.
4. Check out Brucie bopping along in the background – it made us smile.

So here it is just for you, Tom and Camilla’s beautiful American Smooth from Chicago.

We hope you enjoyed your step back in time.

Throwback Thursday – A romantic dance we’re fallin’ in love with

We love watching past dances from the glittery world of Strictly so today we took a trip back in time to 2007 when we were dazzled and amazed by Gethin and Camilla’s fab-u-lous Viennese Waltz.

This was the dance that we made us all start falling in love with them as a couple. We thought you’d like to see it again, so here it is just for you this Throwback Thursday. We hope you enjoy it
