Strictly Support Group – School’s Out For Summer Chat!

For the majority of us, School is Officially Out For Summer *watches her 7 year old dancing around excitedly.*

Tonight in honour of it being the start of the Summer Holidays, we hosted a Summer Holidays themed chat.

We began (in true Strictly Support Group style) with our Annual Yearbook Awards. Here are your winners in a handy little video form:

Your votes are in in our #StrictlySupportGroupYearbookAwards. Congratulations to all our winners this year!

A post shared by Strictly Support Group (@scd_support) on

If you didn’t get the chance to vote in these categories, we’d love to hear some of your other categories in which you’d have put our pros against one another!

Once our awards were out of the way and done with, we moved on to ask some Holiday themed questions. We started by asking you If you could pack one Strictly performance in your suitcase, which would you choose and why? We had some brilliant suggestions from you all. Here they are:

For our second question we asked this:

We’re off to Italy soon and my 7 year old has told me she’d like to watch Strictly in Italy more than she’d like to see the Leaning Tower of Pisa. If you could watch Strictly in any country where would it be?

For our final question we asked if you could borrow any Strictly outfit to wear on holiday which outfit would you choose? Here are some of our favourite answers:

https://twitter.com/jomac39/status/888867889717137410

That ended tonight’s chat. If you missed out don’t fear! You can still take part by tweeting @scd_support or commenting below to let us know.

We’re back tomorrow night from 8pm to reveal the next couple in the spotlight as part of our Strictly Couple Weeks.

Hope to see you then!

Strictly Support Group – A Girl Power Chat!

So, last night, in honour of it being 21 years since the Spice Girls released Wannabe (yes it really has been *feels old*)  and Johanna Konta getting further than any British women’s tennis player in Wimbledon (hashtag Go Jo), we hosted a Girl Power themed chat. It was ladies’ night (but gentlemen were welcome to take part!)

We began our chat by asking this:

The Spice Girls invented the term Girl Power, but who for you on Strictly has shown the most Girl Power and which dances showed this:

We had some brilliant answers. Here are our favourites:

For our next question we asked this:

If Strictly were to do a tribute to the spice girls, who would be in the line-up out of the current and past previous cast? We had these wonderful answers from you all:

We loved all these answers but in our eyes one person would have to be scary (even after his lovely Who Do You Think You Are? Episode this week) …. Craig Revel Horwood!

For our next question we asked Which Female Celebrity has shown the most Girl Power (been the most brilliant and strongest) during their time on the show? We had some great answers with some of our favourite ever celebrities mentioned. Here they are:

For our penultimate question we asked Which routine from a female celebrity showed that Sisters are Doing it For Themselves? We had some brilliant answers but this was the most popular suggestion:

Emma Bunton (Baby Spice) reached the semi-final in 2006 and Mel B has appeared on Dancing With The Stars in America. For our final question, we asked IF you could see another member of the Spice Girls on Strictly, who would it be and who would be their partner? Here are some of your answers:

That ended our Girl Power chat. We hope you all enjoyed it. If you didn’t have a chance to take part, don’t fear! You can still join in by tweeting @scd_support or leaving a comment below this post. We look forward to hearing from you.

We’ll be back tonight from 8pm to reveal the winning dance in our Strictly Couples Week and to reveal the next couple in the spotlight!

Hope to see you then. Before we go, we’ll leave you with a routine full of Spice from Blackpool last year:

Strictly Support Group – A Ballet-Themed Chat

So, earlier this week, my little Ballerina Bella sat her Primary Ballet exam. She came out of it and told me that she had fun and didn’t fall over, and she thinks it went very well. After her ballet exam, she asked if I’d let her host a Ballet themed chat. Last night, that’s exactly what we did. Bella gave you some brilliant ballet-related questions to answer.

She began her chat by focusing on the most famous Ballerina on Strictly, Darcey! For her first question, she asked you to tell her your favourite Darcey moment. Here are some of your fab-u-lous answers:

For Bella’s next question, she asked Ballet is all about being Graceful and Elegant. Who have been the most elegant and graceful couple for you on Strictly? Here are your answers:

She then asked you to tell her The Performances which have been most graceful in your opinion. Here are your answers in a handy playlist:

http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLbpw-gqR2K3aACT-Vno2S3ilbiN7MUfGe

For her next question, Bella asked you for the moments which have been En Pointe (awesome) in your opinion. Here are your answers in another handy playlist:

http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLbpw-gqR2K3ar341flLWluWTCggyYSNGj

For her final question of the night, Bella asked you to tell her who you thought best summed up this quote during their journey on strictly:

Here are your answers:

That ended tonight’s chat! Thank you all who took part, we hope you enjoyed it. If you missed the chat tonight, don’t fear! You can still join in by commenting below or tweeting @scd_support. We’d also like to hear, if you could see a ballet-themed Strictly routine, which ballet would you choose and for which dance!

We’re back tonight from 8pm to reveal the next couple in the spotlight as part of our Strictly Couple Weeks. We hope to see you then.

Strictly Support Group Does Eurovision!

Ever since we heard this on It Takes Two:

We’ve wondered what would happen if Strictly met Eurovision. Well tonight, we found out exactly what happened as we hosted a Strictly meets Eurovision chat.

We began our chat by asking this question:

Eurovision is all about breaking down barriers and bringing nations together through song! Who on Strictly did this best for you and with which dance? We had some brilliant suggestions. Here they all are just for you:

For bringing us contemporary dance (and also causing us to be entirely responsible for flash flooding due to the amount of tears cried)

For proving that you can Salsa to Gangnam Style:

For showing us the true origins of Samba:

For being fearless and fab-u-lous *still wonders how amazing their showdance could have been*

Those were just some of your suggestions. If you can think of others, just tweet @scd_support or comment below to let us know! We look forward to hearing from you.

For our second question of the evening we asked:

If you could ask one person from Strictly to represent us at the Eurovision Song Contest, who would it be?

We had two very popular answers, in the form of these wonderful pros:

We agree that both these pros not only dance beautifully but have the voices of angels *demands a Joanne Anton partnership on next year’s Eurovision*
For our third question of the evening we asked you this:

You’re asked to choose one Strictly dance to represent the UK at the Eurovision song (and dance) contest.  Which dance would you pick?

We had some brilliant answers. Here are our favourites of the night in playlist form:

If you can think of any others, please let us know and we’ll add them to the playlist just for you.

For our next question we asked you this question:

We know that getting one of these from this judge is about as rare as Unicorn poo! If Craig had to give Douze points to one dance on Strictly, which dance do you think he’d pick?

You gave us some wonderful answers. Here are some of our favourites:

For our final question of the night, we asked you this. Strictly is broadcast in many nations throughout Europe. We all know that our version is the best (obvs) but which other version has been uh-may-singly fab-u-lous in your opinion? Here are some of your suggestions:

https://twitter.com/dizzzyb/status/863486778120036353

For us, we’ll always love Stricty here in the Uk, but there’s another version of Strictly which has impressed us, just because of this dance. Yes, it’s Strictly from Norway:

That ended our chat. Thank you all for taking part. If you didn’t get the chance to take part, fear not! You can still join in by tweeting @scd_support or commenting below. We look forward to hearing from you.

We’ll be back tomorrow (Sunday) from 8pm to reveal the winning dance in our Team GG week. We’ll also be revealing a bit of the fun which will be taking place on Monday in honour of Strictly Day! Hope you can join us then.
