Strictly Couple Weeks – Colin and Erin – Day 7 and Poll!

Over the past week, we’ve shared some of Colin and Erin’s most memorable dances which saw them hurdle their way to the Strictly final in 2005!

Earlier this morning we shared with you their wonderful, graceful and elegant American Smooth.

Now, as you know by now, here at the Strictly Support Group, we love nothing more than a good poll to decide our favourite moments. All you need to do is watch all 7 dances below then vote in the poll just beneath that:

You can vote for up to 3 dances in the poll and voting will remain open until 8pm tonight, when we’ll reveal the winning dance along with the next couple in the spotlight as part of our Strictly Couple Weeks!

Foxtrot Friday – A Trip To The Big Apple 🗽🇺🇸🚕🇺🇸🌃

As it’s Around the World Week on Strictly today we’re jetting you off to New York to watch a fabulous Foxtrot. We’re also taking you back in time to 2005 too. Eat your heart out Doctor Who!

For our Foxtrot Friday fix, today we’re watching Colin Jackson and Erin Boag’s wonderful dance to Frank Sinatra’s New York, New York.

Colin and Erin were one of our favourite couples of Series 3, and Colin’s transformation from Athlete to Ballroom Dancer was seamless. As a very well-matched pairing these two had a very long journey, making it all the way to the final (hurdle) and we loved watching them dance.

Colin’s technical dancing and performance were brilliant and Erin’s choreography suited him down to a tee! This dance made us feel all warm and fuzzy inside and sums up everything we love about the Foxtrot. We hope you enjoy it too. Here is Erin and Colin’s floaty, dreamy foxtrot:

Foxtrot Friday – The Final Hurdle of our Commonwealth Games

So far this week we’ve seen 2 Quicksteps, a Tango, a Jive and a Viennese Waltz, but for today’s dance (the final event in our Strictly Commonwealth Games) we’re watching a magical foxtrot from 2012.

Today’s athlete is Victoria Pendleton, and we’re watching her Foxtrot with Brendan Cole. Although she wasn’t a natural dancer, her progress was amazing over the series. This dance oozed elegance and style. It wasn’t perfect, but she tried and looked like she was having fun, which is what Strictly is all about. We hope you enjoy watching this dance too:

So there we have all 6 of our sportspeople have danced and now we can start our poll. Just vote below for your favourite before 8pm tonight when we’ll have a medal ceremony and a ceremonial handing over of the baton to my lovely friend Cassie who’s back from her holidays today.

Monday Memories – A Hop, (Quick)Step and a Jump for one of our athletes from the Strictly Archives

The weekend is over, it’s time for a new week and what better way to make us smile starting the week off with a spring in our steps than a quickstep!

When searching through the archives, we found this dance from Colin Jackson and Erin Boag in series 3. As a hurdler, Colin was very light on his feet and hopped, skipped and stepped his way across the ballroom, faster than you can say “on your marks, get set, go!” This dance was light, bright and very quick. The footwork was accurate and he flew across the floor. Considering it was performed in week 2, it scored a phenomenal 36 points and was absolutely flawless.

We hope you enjoy watching it as much as we did. Here it is just for you. Colin and Erin’s quickstep:

We’d love to hear what you thought of that dance. Tweet us @scd_support or comment below! We look forward to hearing from you.

As the Commonwealth Games start this week, we thought we’d pick a dance from one of our athletes or sportspeople everyday this week. At the end of the week (Friday) we’ll put a poll on the page so we can decide who wins the Golden Glitterball Medal with the best dance. Keep an eye out on here, twitter and Instagram for each of our Strictly Fixes this week.

We’ll be back at 9pm tonight with a QuickFire quiz on @scd_support. Hope to see you there.

Foxtrot Friday – A Trip to the Big Apple 🍎🗽🚖🇺🇸

For today’s Foxtrot Friday fix, we took you back to 2005 and to the U S of A to see Colin Jackson and Erin Boag’s Fabulous Foxtrot to Frank Sinatra’s New York, New York.

Colin and Erin were one of our favourite couples of Series 3, and Colin’s transformation from Athlete to Ballroom Dancer was seamless. As a very well-matched pairing these two made it all the way to the final (hurdle) and we loved watching them dance.

Colin’s technical dancing and performance were brilliant and Erin’s choreography suited him down to a tee! This dance made us feel all warm and fuzzy inside, and has got us extremely excited for our trip to the United States next month! *squeals* We hope you enjoy it too. Here is Erin and Colin’s floaty, dreamy foxtrot:

Smooth Sundays.

We know you all read the blog, but we have a funny feeling someone is following us and watching this dance made us realise it’s actually our shadow (phew! *breathes a sigh of relief*

For today’s Smooth Sunday fix we went back to 2005 to relive the wonderful American Smooth from Colin Jackson and Erin Boag to “Me and my shadow.”

Series 3 was the first time we saw the American Smooth and we fell in love with it. This dance sums up just why we love it so much. It’s flowing beauty even makes the grumpiest of people (my husband’s not a morning person) smile. So here it is, especially for you:

We hope you enjoyed watching it. We thought we’d have a little discussion again so asked who’s performed the best American Smooth in your opinion?  Here are some of your tweets and answers:
