It’s Day 1 of the Strictly Pro Rehearsals, which means one thing… time for our daily news bulletins bringing you the latest from the world of Planet Strictly!
Although there weren’t too many tweets today from Planet Strictly, there seemed to be a lot of excitement:
There also seemed to be some confusion too #AreWeIn2017?
*realises that if this is the case Tristan and Gleb are still on #Strictly* 😍
That ends today’s news bulletin. We’ll be back with more news from Planet Strictly tomorrow.
Good Night everyone!
There is now just over one month until Strictly shimmies back onto our screens and Strictly Fever has well and truly hit in our house.
Strictly keeps getting better and better, and you may disagree but last year’s series (2016) was (in our eyes) the best series to date!
Over the next month, we’ll be reliving some of our favourite moments from Strictly 2016! We’ll share one moment per day and would like you to also take part! You just need to tweet your moment followed by the hashtag #CountdownToStrictlyChallenge.
Earlier this morning, we shared our favourite First Dance of 2016. For us, it has to be Judge Rinder and Oksana’s Cha Cha Cha. For us Judge Rinder’s twirls and the sheer joy he had performing this dance, as well as his commitment to the performance just made us smile. It is definitely the first dance we remember most and the one that really made us smile. In case you missed it earlier, here are Judge Rinder and Oksana with ther Cha Cha Cha:
We’d love to hear your favourite first dances from Strictly 2016. Tweet @scd_support with the hashtag #CountdownToStrictlyChallenge for a chance to take part!
We look forward to hearing from you soon.
Over the years on Strictly there have been many memorable series and our couple in the spotlight this week come from 2013, the year when Girl Power reigned supreme and 4 female celebrities reached the final.
Yes, last night, we announced Sophie and Brendan as our next couple in the Spotlight as part of our Strictly Couple Weeks series.
During their time on the show, Sophie performed some brilliant dances and achieving a score of 36/40 in Week 2 for one of the best Charlestons we have ever seen.
Always oozing class and Elegance, the ballroom was her forte and she performed some of our all-time favourite ballroom routines of all time.
For our Monday Motivation and Day 1 of our Sophie and Brendan week, we’re reliving their Charleston. For a week 2 performance it surprised and amazed us. The choreography was daring, the dancing near perfection and the performance cool, laid-back and just brilliant!
It was one of those perfect moments that we loved. In case you missed it earlier, here are Sophie and Brendan with their wonderful Charleston:

Last night, we unveiled Harry and Aliona as our next couple in the spotlight as part of our Strictly Couple Weeks.
Not only were Harry and Aliona crowned champions in 2011, but they are one of our all-time favourite couples on Strictly.
To kick off their Strictly Couple Week, we’ve picked their wonderful Greased Lightning jive. For us, this was the performance where Harry really came alive and showed his true potential. It was full of energy, brilliant choreography and the concept and theme behind the dance were first-class.
We loved it, and hope you will too! In case you missed it earlier, here are Harry and Aliona with their Jive.

So last night, we unveiled the next couple in the spotlight as part of our Strictly Couple Weeks series, Ali and Brian!
During their time on Strictly in 2009, they reached the semi-finals and became one of our all-time favourite couples. Ali’s natural ability as a dancer as well as Brian’s original choreography gave us some truly memorable routines which we still love to watch now.
For day one of their Strictly Couple week, we’re reliving their charming Charleston! The Charleston was a new dance that year which made us smile and want to get up and dance. From the costumes, to the music, to the choreography and dancing, this was one of those perfect Strictly moments.
In our eyes it should have got a perfect 40/40 – *wonders what happens to the rest of the judges’ 10 paddles that night* A As an actress, Ali knew how to portray a character and in this dance, she did this perfectly.
Nearly 8 years after this dance was performed, it is still one of our all-time favourite Charlestons! If you haven’t seen it yet, or missed it earlier, here it is just for you:

So, last night, we revealed the next couple to be in the spotlight as part of our Strictly Couple Weeks series! Yes, we’ve chosen Series 4 champions, Mark Ramprakash and Karen Hardy.
During their time on the show, Mark left many ladies mesmerised by his hips (Arlene included.) He also transformed from shy cricketer into accomplished ballroom and latin dancer.
For the first day of our Mark and Karen week, we’re reliving their Cha Cha Cha which surprised and amazed us. For a week 1 dance, Mark came out and gave his all. He also technically mastered many of the steps and we fell in love with this partnership!
In case you missed it earlier, here is this dance again:

Last night we revealed the next couple to be in the spotlight as part of our Strictly Couple Weeks.
We were very excited to announce that the next couple in the spotlight are Team Pocket Rocket – aka Claudia and AJ.
We loved the energy that these two brought to the competition each week. They were young and whoever matched them together deserves a medal because you could tell with each dance their friendship grew and grew even stronger!
For day 1, we’ve chosen their light, bright and fab-u-lous quickstep. OK, it was the dance that saw them bow out of the competition before they’d performed what would have most definitely have been an acrobatic Showdance, but it just showed how far Claudia had come on her Strictly journey. Her confidence and performance skill had grown no-end and this dance was so fast, they flew across the floor faster than Len could pickle his walnuts!
We loved the whole feel and quality of the dance and in our eyes it deserved a perfect 40! The music was uplifting, as too was the choreography and Claudia’s dress gave us serious Christmas Party dress envy. In case you missed it earlier, here they are with their wonderful dance!

So, last night we unveiled Series three’s Colin and Erin as the next couple to be in the spotlight as part of our Strictly Couple Weeks series.
They may have performed on Strictly nearly 11 years ago, but their amazing dances are still very well remembered. In fact, we regularly turn to them if we need a sparkly boost!
We’ve picked one such dance today for our first fix of Colin and Erin magic. We’ve chosen their light, bright and fab-u-lously fast quickstep. The choreography was challenging, but Colin flew across the floor faster than *thinks of something really fast* concorde and the whole feel of the dance made us smile!
We’re pretty sure it’ll have the same effect on you. If you didn’t see it earlier, don’t fear, here it is just for you
We’d love to hear what you thought of this dance. Do you remember seeing it performed on Strictly or is it a surprise performance that has filled you with joy? Tell us by tweeting @scd_support or commenting below. We look forward to hearing from you.
So last night we revealed the next couple to be in the spotlight as part of our Strictly Couple Weeks. Yes, we’ve chosen quite possibly Anton’s best partner ever, and the partner who got him to the final in 2015.
Every day this week, we’ll share one of Katie and Anton’s fab-u-lous dances. At the end of the week, we’ll then put them against one another in a poll at the end of the week to decide the best Team Derbeke dance of all time.
For today’s dance, we’re taking a trip down 42nd Street, and reliving their wonderful Quickstep.
Katie always looked elegant and this dance was beautiful and packed full of ballroom content. Anton is the king of ballroom and he made sure this dance was challenging, but also a showstopper of a performance.
Ok, there was a minor wardrobe malfunction *eats her hat in protest* but overall we loved this dance and it had a real flavour of Broadway and the West End.
In case you missed it earlier, here are Katie and Anton with their wonderful Quickstep

It’s half-term, so for one week only, I’m letting my little Strictly Superfan, takeover our Strictly Couple Weeks and showcase the dances of our one of our all-time favourite couples.
This week, she’s chosen Jeremy and Karen! In the world of Strictly, there are dancers who excel from week one and wow us with near perfect performances, there are couples who go on a bit of a journey and improve week by week on the show and there are those who capture our hearts and make us smile with their exuberance and enthusiasm. Jeremy and Karen fitted in the final of these categories.
From week one, when we first saw them dance we fell in love with not just Karen’s amazing choreography, but their partnership. They were supportive of one another and Jeremy always looked Ike he was having the time of his life. He tried his hardest week after week, and we voted, because we could see that he was genuinely doing his best.
For Day 1 of Jeremy and Karen week, little Bella has chosen their Jive. When this dance was performed, it created a splash and made us smile, even if one judge was mean and likened Jeremy to a stork being hit by lightning! It’ll definitely cheer you up if you’re feeling down today. Here are Jeremy and Karen with their Jive:
When I asked Bella earlier what she loved most about this dance, her answer was Jeremy looked like he was having fun and I wanted to dance this dance at home in the bath too! I like it when people look like they’re having fun on Strictly because it always makes me smile.
We hope you enjoyed watching that dance. We’d love to hear what you thought of it. Just tweet @scd_support or comment below to let us know. We look forward to hearing from you.
