Seven Days With James and Ola Jordan – A Review

Over the last year, James Jordan has become a bit like Marmite. You either love him, or you hate him. Some of his opinionated tweets have made some Strictly Fans cringe and scroll through his tweets as quickly as they can whilst checking their twitter feeds. We love Marmite as much as we love anything Strictly-related so sat to watch Seven Days with James and Ola in suspense!

“I like Marmite, but will I like James and Ola?”
So, what was our verdict of the show? Well, surprisingly, we loved it!
We definitely saw a softer side to James who said “I don’t just love Ola because she’s gorgeous on the outside, but she’s a beautiful person inside! (sic)” *sound of heart melting* Later on in the show, whilst they were both at the gym we saw Ola say that James is caring and always tells her to be careful Baby! It was clear to see that there is a lot of love between these two and they care for eachother so much!

There were comedy moments too, including watching James being attacked by his nieces and nephews on a giant bouncy castle! We heard how they were desparate for children and feel they’ll make fun parents. James’ bedtime discipline/bribery would work perfectly with my little lady who suddenly turned all Supernanny, telling me “Mummy and Daddy, he needs to do what you do and tell them bedtime stories!”

We learnt that James left Strictly because it had turned into something he didn’t like anymore. After all the tweets last year, we think there may be some truth in this, but are still a little dubious of the editing. *puts on detective hat to investigate.*

We also saw Ola take her first dance steps with James since her accident and be given the all clear for Strictly and a future touring show they are planning with Arlene Phillips. Watching the pair of them dance, we saw magic that we missed on last year’s Strictly. Yes, Pasha and Ola made a great partnership, but James and Ola are such a talented couple and their dancing together is 100% natural.

Overall, we really enjoyed this show and would love to see some of our other Strictly Pros do a Seven Days With Style show. We’d love to hear what you thought of the show. Let us know by commenting below or tweeting @scd_support.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Wednesday Warm-Up – We’re Pretty Sure This Dance Counts As One Of Your Five-A-Day

We know all too well that as January comes to an end, keeping those New Year’s Resolutions is getting tougher and tougher. Here at the Strictly Support Group, we love helping you out, so today’s “fruity dance” will not only make you smile, but will also count as one of your five a day, well virtually anyway *inserts fruit emojis 🍎🍏🍊🍋🍒🍇🍉🍓🍑🍈🍌🍐🍍*

Today we’re watching James Jordan and Denise Van Outen’s wonderfully fruity Jive! It was fast, fun and fab-u-lous. We loved the 50s feel to this routine and had serious dress envy of Denise’s outfit. We loved the music and choreography and it’s the sort of tune to make you want to get up and dance. The whole performance was a moment of Strictly Magic and set Denise as a true contender in Strictly 2012.

We hope you enjoy watching this dance and would love to hear what you thought of it. Let us know once you’ve watched the dance. You can either tweet us @scd_support or comment below. We look forward to hearing from you:

Have a wonderful Wednesday and we hope this dance made you smile. Now, we feel all inspired to eat healthily again. *wanders off to eat some celery, carrot sticks and fruit.*

Throwback Thursday – Tissues at the ready, it’s about to get a little emosh!

We put our hands up and admit it doesn’t take a lot to turn us to blubbering messes, but today’s strictly fix even made my alpha male husband shed a tear!

We’re providing you with tissues as we’re pretty sure it’ll move you to tears, if it doesn’t, there’s something wrong with you! Today we’re watching James and Denise’s gorgeous Rumba which scored an impressive 38 points in 2012.

It was soft, elegant, sensual, romantic and beautiful. As ever, the music from the Strictly band gave us goosebumps. We loved this dance and hope you will to.

Let us know what you thought of it. Tweet us @scd_support or comment below. We look forward to hearing from you.

Memory Monday – Taking a trip back in time to our school days!

It has been a while since we were last at school. We’re not going to say how long ago it was (a lady never reveals her age!) but over the last few weeks we’ve been buying uniforms and getting ready to send a little lady off to school in September *sobs.*

This cheerleader and school romance- inspired jive seemed the perfect way to make us smile and start our weeks off on a (mountain) high! (Bella if you’re reading this, mummy says you’re not allowed a boyfriend until you leave home so don’t get ideas!)

Today we’re watching Alex Jones and James Jordan’s high energy Jive.
They bounced around the dance floor with as much energy as the Duracell bunny. Even though it wasn’t technically perfect, it was a great routine which showed off Alex’s bubbly personality. She oozed confidence and looked really comfortable with the dance and choreography. Performance wise we’d give it 10/10. We loved the rag doll at the start and thought that, although he was floppy and his posture left a little to be desired, having 3 people on the Dancefloor worked really well.

We loved this dance and hope you will too. Here it is, just for you, James and Alex’s Jive:

We’d love to hear what you thought of that dance. Tweet us @scd__support or comment in the box below. We look forward to hearing from you.

Throwback Thursday – We’re stepping out and trying something new

In the history of Strictly Come Dancing, lots of songs have graced the presence of the ballroom twice, thrice or even more, so for our Throwback Thursday, we thought we’d try something different showing you two dances that have been danced to the same song and putting them against one another as a duel! Strictly producers, if you’re reading this, lots of us would like to see duels between couples on the next series.

For today’s dances we’ve chosen two perfect routines:
Pamela and James’s Amazing Quickstep
And Natalie and Artem’s Phenomenal Showdance.

Both these dances were performed to the song “stepping out with my baby” and both achieved perfect scores. They were brilliantly choreographed and danced. Both feature amazing tap dance and quickstep sections that will take your breath away. We love them both equally and cannot decide which is best, but we know you can help us! *flutters eyelids*

Just watch both these dances and then vote in the poll below to tell us who you think should win the ultimate duel. Simples!

We hope you liked watching both these dances and would love to hear what you think of them. Just comment below or tweet us @scd_support. We’d love to hear from you.

Smooth Sunday – A Double Smooth Strictly Fix Just For You!

Today we’ve blended up a fruit Strictly smoothie for you with not 1, but 2 American Smooths from the archives.

Our first dance is dedicated to ”My Girl,” my 4 year old Bella, who’s been so grown-up, brave and just adorable over the last few weeks, I couldn’t resist dedicating a dance especially to her. If you follow my personal twitter account, you will see some of her very funny comments, which always make me laugh no matter what mood I’m in. We’re showing you Zoe Lucker and James Jordan’s American Smooth which was elegant, beautiful and left us beaming from ear to ear. Here it is just for you:

We love spoiling you here at the Strictly Support Group, so when we heard it was one of the professional dancer’s birthdays, we dedicated a whole American Smooth to them. It’s the amazing and inspirational Iveta Lukosiute’s birthday today. It’s also Camera Day, so her American Smooth with Mark Benton seemed an appropriate way to celebrate her special day. Iveta, we hope you enjoyed your birthday wish from us and have a wonderful day too. Here it is, incase you missed it earlier:

We hope you loved your double Strictly Fix. In honour of it being Camera Day, we’ve launched our Instagram page a day early! Follow us @scd_support to be reminded of some of the fabulous glittery memories from the Strictly Archives! We’re also asking you to let us know your favourite ever Strictly pics especially for Camera Day. Tweet us @scd_support and we’ll give as many of you as we can a shoutout!

Have a great afternoon.

Monday Memories – Not 1, not 2 but 3 dances!

We love treating you strictly fans, so as it’s Monday we have THREE dances for you today. We’ve chosen these three dances from the three professionals who won’t be competing on the next series of Strictly. *sobs*

For our first Monday Memory, we’re going back to 2011 and to the cinema to see The Mask of Zorro. to the ballroom to watch Holly Valance and Artem Chigvintsev’s dramatic Zorro-inspired Paso Doble. This dance was full of drama, passion, great choreography, mood and atmosphere. It scored a very well deserved 38 points on the night, and was one of our favourite dances of Series 9. Here it is just for you:

For our 2nd Monday Memory, we’re rewatching Pasha and Anya’s gorgeous routine to Andrea Begley’s Dancing in the Dark. This dance made us get the kleenex out as it was truly beautiful. We’re sending you a virtual pack of Kleenex to get you through it. Here it is just for you. We hope you enjoy watching it:

As our final Monday memory we’re treating you to James and Ola’s passionate Rumba from 2010. We loved Ola’s catsuit as well as the choreography, lifts and tricks too. We’re going to miss watching them dance together on Strictly as they have provided us with lots of fantastic dances over the last 8 years. Here it is as a little treat for you all:

We hope you enjoyed your Monday Memories. We’d love to hear what you thought of all three dances. Tweet us @scd_support or comment below to let us know. WE look forward to hearing from you.

Monday Memories – A Trip Back to the Classroom

It’s that time of year again, the time when students carefully plan chaotically cram for their exams. We don’t envy anyone sitting exams these days and want you to know we’re there for you, so whatever you need, whether it be a strictly fix to get you through revision, a motivational tip or some help with your revision (selected subjects only!) just holler and we’ll be there! Just see us as your school counsellor!

It seems fitting too that our dance today is Pamela and James’s school teacher inspired Charleston.

We loved this couple throughout the 2010 series of strictly as they truly embraced what strictly is all about (having fun, learning to dance and just shining like bright stars on the dance floor.) This dance was no exception and had we been in the judges’ places, we’d have awarded it full marks (an A*) for effort, execution and excellence.

So here it is just for you, Pamela and James’s Charleston:

We hope you enjoy watching it!

Class dismissed! (And there’s no homework – see, we told you we were nice teachers!)

A Friendly Foxtrot Friday Fix For You All.

I’m not ashamed to admit I am a big kid. Being a mum allows me to go into the Disney Store for my daughter (and myself of course!) and to watch my favourite guilty pleasure, Toy Story (or any Disney movie for that matter!) without feeling embarrassed.

It’s probably why, when this foxtrot was performed in 2012, it left me feeling all warm and fuzzy inside and I couldn’t stop smiling like this 😀! Yes, for today’s Foxtrot Friday we’re reliving a little bit of Disney magic by watching Denise Van Outen and James Jordan’s Toy Story inspired Foxtrot.

We’ve chosen this dance for two reasons:

1. We loved the characterisation, costuming and choreography (the all-important 3 Cs.) The dancing was impressive too. James was perfect as Woody and Denise made a brilliant (sheepless) Bo-Peep. Their facial expressions and doll-like movements were adorable. They danced together perfectly and the foxtrot choreography was pure brilliance.
2. We loved the music. With it being National Best Friend Day, earlier on in the week, we felt this song (you’ve got a friend in me) was the perfect song choice for the week.

So here it is, Denise and James’s fabulous foxtrot. We hope you enjoy watching it:

There is a moral to this dance too. We love running this blog and twitter feed, as you all make running this page a-maz-ing and an absolute joy. We want you to know that you all have a friend in us. If you ever need cheering up with a strictly moment, just tweet us @scd_support, comment below or email strictlysupportgroup@aol.co.uk and we’ll be there for you.

Cassie 😘

Smooth Sundays

Here at the Strictly Support Group, we don’t want you to wind up broken hearted and are here to put a smile upon your face. For us, no dance does this better on a Sunday than a sumptuous, suave and sophisticated American Smooth with its gorgeous lifts and effortless nature flowing across the floor.

For today’s Smooth Sunday fix, we’re going back to 2010 to see someone who “perhaps” could be described as the dark horse of series 8, Pamela Stephenson and James Jordan in their amazing American Smooth. We loved the start of this dance where Pamela was in control. Throughout the dance her dress looked glamourously beautiful and James choreographed the dance perfectly to compliment them as a couple together on the floor. Their chemistry was palpable through the TV and for us it was worth of at least 2 10s (judges take note! We don’t like under marking) and we truly loved it, perhaps as it was performed to one of our favourite tunes.

So here it is just for you, a dance guaranteed to make you smile, Pamela and James’s sumptuous American Smooth.

We hope you enjoyed watching that dance and would love to hear what you thought. Tweet us @scd_support or comment in the box below. We’d love to hear from you.

Cassie 😊
