Smooth Sunday – We think we’ve flooded the tower ballroom

Last night, I judged a talent show competition and being the hormonal person I am right now (blame the little lady inside me!) I did cry a lot! If I had been judging Strictly, I’m pretty sure I’d have flooded the Tower Ballroom so it’s just as well I wasn’t. From what my lovely 4yr old told me, it was a-may-zing and our couples dazzled and shone like sparkly glitterballs.

As it’s still officially Blackpool weekend, today we’re watching a dance that may make you a tad emotional. It may even make you Cry a River. We’re watching Kara and Artem’s amazing American Smooth from 2010. Although Len didn’t like it, we loved Artem’s unique choreography and felt Tango really suited an American Smooth. It had tension, romance a floaty nature and great lifts. Not only did they perform it brilliantly but Artem was injured too!

For us this dance scored a 10. We loved it and hope you will too. Here are Kara and Artem with their American Smooth:

We’d love to hear what you thought of that dance. Tweet us @scd_support, comment below or like! share or comment on our new Facebook Page (Strictly Support Group!)

We’re here later for a results show chat. Hope you can join us then.

Have a great afternoon.

Throwback Thursday – A Trip to the Opera which is Hauntingly Good

For today’s throwback Thursday, we took you all the way back to 2010 and to the opera to watch Artem Chigvintsev and Kara Tointon’s super dramatic, Phantom of the Opera themed Paso Doble.

We’re a huge fan of all musicals, especially the Phantom of the Opera and this dance was both dramatic, passionate and romantic. It was hauntingly good and so mysterious it sent shivers down our spine.

The costumes were perfect and Kara looked like a Paso princess. Artem’s mask truly set the scene and added to the atmosphere and mood of the dance.

The music from the Band and singers was stunning and choreography (as ever with Artem) imaginative and creative. We loved this dance and hope you feel the same way too. Here are Artem and Kara with their wonderful, Paso Doble. Enjoy!

We’d love to hear what you thought of that dance. Tweet us @scd_support or comment in the box below. We look forward to hearing from you.

Tango Tuesday – we’re taking you to Paris

Bonjour mes amis! (don’t worry we’re not going all French on you!) Today we are *in her best French accent* zee going to delight vous avec zis amazing Tango straight from Moulin Rouge.

When looking at all the dances we’ve covered over the last few months, we were surprised and shocked (😱ooh-la-la!) that we hadn’t picked this dance earlier.

We’re going back to 2010, to see the amazing Moulin Rouge inspired *starts singing Roxanne!* Tango from Kara Tointon and Artem Chigvintsev. We loved this dance for several reasons:

1) It had mood, atmosphere, drama and had us sitting on the edge of our seats – quite literally!
2) The chairography was amazing and really added to the Drama. In fact, the choreography on the whole was brilliant and Kara danced it perfectly.
3) Kara’s dress was gorgeous. It gave us serious dress envy.
4) We loved the music and everything about the dance. It took us to Paris and the Moulin Rouge even though we were sitting in our living rooms here in London.

I think it’s safe to say we love this dance (nous adorons cette dance!) Here it is just for you. Kara and Artem’s phenomenal Tango:

We’d love to hear what you thought of this dance. Tweet us @scd_support or comment below. We look forward to hearing from you.

Merci Beaucoup.

Tango Tuesday – The Results of our Strictly World Cup

Yesterday evening, we counted far more votes than there were goals in the World Cup Final! I think we can safely say our Argentine Tango Strictly World Cup had just as much drama as the World Cup Final, but was slightly more exciting for us Strictly Fans!

Your votes have been checked, counted and verified and we can now reveal the results.

In third place, matching the Netherlands’ efforts in Brazil, we have Natalie and Artem with their HOT Argentine Tango.

In second place we have the phenomenal Argentine Tango from Kara Tointon and Artem

20140715-000207-127291.jpg
This not only makes Artem both an honorary Argentinian and Dutchman, but also a legendary choreographer as he’s the only one to have two dances feature in the top three of the poll.

Finally, the winner, as chosen by you is Mark Ramprakash and Karen Hardy’s steamy, passionate and spine tinglingly chilling Argentine Tango from 2006. This is the iconic Argentine Tango and we fully agree with you on your choice! Mark and Karen, if you’re reading this, here is your Strictly World Cup…. 🏆 As a reminder, here is their amazing Argentine Tango for you all one more time:

We hope you enjoyed watching that dance. Let us know what you thought of it either by tweeting @scd_support or commenting below. We’d love to hear from you.

National Smile Month Polls – The Results

Over the last month, we’ve been celebrating National Smile Month, by hosting a month long poll. We know Strictly makes us smile, but we wanted to find out who you thought had the best smile on Strictly and which moment makes you smile the most.

Earlier we revealed the winners on our poll, but here are the results! Your votes have been counted, checked and verified. We can now reveal the winners and runners-up in our polls.

The Best Smile On Strictly
In the smiley world of Strictly Come Dancing, everyone who’s appeared on the show has a beautiful smile, however there can only be one winner of our poll. The results are in and….

In third place, with an impressive 10% of the votes we have our reigning professional champion Aljaz Skoranjec

We can officially rename Artem, Artem “The Smile” Chigvintsev.

The Moment That Makes You Smile Most
We then revealed the results of the moments that make you smile the most. For us, Strictly never fails to make us smile, but we have to admit Strictly 2013 (of all the series) made us smile the most. It may have been because a very young Strictly Fan joined in our viewing of the show, making it slightly more entertaining, or could have been the amazing partnerships who created magic moments on the dance floor! It came as no surprise that the majority of moments suggested in our polls came from Series 11 of Strictly Come Dancing. The results are in and:

In third place, we have a moment from Strictly 2013, where Kevin (from Grimsby) Clifton turned into Rory Bremner and successfully impersonated the judges. It made us laugh so much we fell off our seats, literally – we had bruises in places you don’t want to see! Here it is again for you:
http://bbc.in/19vczdx

In 2nd place, we have one of the most romantic moments of Strictly ever! It’s the fairytale ending where Kara and Artem won Strictly 2010, kissed and lived happily ever after.

And, in First place, we have another Kevin moment, his reaction to the Swingathon of 2013. We did feel for him and Susanna and agreed they were voted off too quickly, but his reaction made us smile and had us in fits of giggles! Here it is, just for you:

Kevin is one of our favourite additions to strictly. His energy, fun personality, sense of humour and great dancing have officially made him one of our favourite pros. For us he deserves an award for making us smile, maybe the best comedy performance on Strictly Come Dancing Kevin, if you’re reading this, here is your trophy 🏆. Thank you for making us smile so much! We can’t wait to see you on Strictly 2014.

And that concluded our results. We want to thank all of you who voted, we received nearly 250 votes in our polls, which is pretty a-may-zing, as are you all! We’ll have lots more polls to come. Keep an eye on here and @scd_support for more information.

Keep Dancing!

Smooth Sundays – A Dance That’ll Have You Crying Rivers (Tissues Needed!)

As you know, there’s no dance we think sums up a Sunday better than the American Smooth. It’s flowing, relaxed nature and sheer beauty make it the perfect dance to watch whilst enjoying a lie-in, or chilling out after a yummy Sunday Roast.

Over the last week we’ve asked you to let us know your favourite ever strictly moments in honour of Strictly Day this Thursday! We’ve been inundated with tweets asking for this dance, so thought today would be the perfect opportunity to show it.

When we first saw Kara and Artem’s gorgeous American Smooth in 2010, we loved it, but also watched in suspense (Artem had injured his shoulder!) The music and choreography were beautiful, even if Len disliked it, and it had us in tears and “Crying Rivers!” You all loved this dance, so here it is again just for you:

We hope you enjoy watching it and have a great day!

The Ultimate Strictly Rumba – The Results

Do you agree? If you do or you don’t, we’d love to hear from you.  Tweet us @scd_support or comment below.

Our Strictly Support Group Weekly Chat

As you know, we love a discussion, especially where strictly is concerned so earlier tonight, we asked you a question suggested by the lovely @beckysbijoux which was “who do you think is the most deserving strictly winner? Who also were you surprised not to see in the final/winning the series?

Here are some of your tweets from our chat earlier:
