Tango Tuesday and Wednesday Warm-Up – Possibly the First and Last time we’ll combine these dances together

We’ve been a little busy over the last few days, so today’s blog post is a double Strictly FIx. We’re showing you an aggressive dance (grr!) and a super romantic dance (ah!) They’re a little like chalk and cheese, so we’ve added some kittens into the mix to make the transition more gradual and less shocking!

Yesterday was Tango Tuesday, so we showed you a monster of a tango, packed full of aggression and halloween spirit from Ashley Taylor-Dawson and Ola Jordan. When we first saw this dance we loved the power these two danced with. Ola’s dress was just gorgeous and although Ashley needed to work on his neck and head a little, he nailed the character of the dance. It scared my then 3 year old (not so good for me) but meant the dance overall was good! We hope you enjoy watching it too:

If that scared you a little bit, here is some fluffy cuteness to make you smile…

Seeing these cuties above, made me feel super soppy, so for today’s Wednesday Warm-Up, I decided to show you one of my favourite ever Viennese Waltzes. Before you ask, no I didn’t choose this because it has Pasha in it! I’ve decided to show you Kimberly Walsh and Pasha Kovalev’s gorgeous Twilight-inspired Viennese Waltz. Not only is it performed to one of the songs I had at our Vow Renewal on Saturday but lots of you have requested it in the past. I loved the soft tender nature of the choreography and the romantic dancing. Kimberly’s dress was stunning and Pasha just looked gorgeous! The music was amazing and the whole performance made my eyes leak it was so beautiful. Here it is, just for you, Kimberly and Pasha’s Viennese Waltz:

I don’t know about you, but that’s left me feeling a little emosh! I’m heading off for a couple of hours, but will be here from 6.30pm for a quickfire quiz. Hope you can join me then!

Monday Memories – Forget Your Troubles and Get Happy!

We all know the feeling, the alarm sounding at 7am signalling the end of a weekend which has gone too quickly, a 4yr old coming for snuggles just because she can and realising that it’s Monday, the start of a new week and time for a fresh start. It’s time to smile and think positive.

This morning we woke up with a spring in our step and feeling super super happy. It might have been because we were treated to breakfast in bed, but it could have also been because we watched this dance featuring the very dashing Mr Kovalev.

Today, we’re forgetting our troubles with a smile watching Kimberley and Pasha’s gorgeous Quickstep. We loved this dance not just because it featured Pasha but also because the choreography, dancing and music were sophisticated, glamourous and elegant. Kimberley’s outfit oozed 1950s Hollywood glamour, and Pasha definitely had specs appeal, although we still think the best specs wearer on Strictly is Kevin From Grimsby (sorry Pasha!)

For a week three dance this was super light, quick and gorgeous. Len named Kimberley Nimble Kimble, and it’s easy to see why. Her footwork was accurate, her frame perfect and the whole dance was amazing. Pasha choreographs the best Quicksteps, so we can’t wait to see what he has up his sleeves this year.

If you woke up today feeling a little glum, we recommend watching this dance, it’s guaranteed to make even the grumpiest of people smile…

… Well almost. We’re pretty sure you’ll love it (unless your name is Grumpy Cat!) Here it is just for you, Kimberley and Pasha’s quickstep. We hope you enjoy it:

We’d love to hear what you thought of that dance. Tweet us @scd_support or comment in the box below. We look forward to hearing from you.

Have a wonderful day!

Warm-Up Wednesday – We’re Flying High

Yesterday, to cure our hump day blues we showed you our favourite Charleston ever! It was Kimberley and Pasha’s perfect Charleston. This dance left this couple flying high and secured their place in the final of Strictly 2012.

We loved this dance for several reasons:
1) It had Pasha in it 😍
2) Kimberley’s Costume was amazing – we loved the sequinned crop top and shorts combination (although it’d never look that good on us!)
3) It had lots of lifts and tricks
4) Kimberley danced so well, it was impossible to tell her apart from Pasha and it looked like one of the professional routines it was that good!

We loved it, and the dance really put a smile on our faces. We hope you love it just as much:

Tango Tuesday – It’s Raining 10s, Hallelujah!

As you know we love the Tango for its drama, aggression and passion. We love it even more when it features one of our favourite pros (Pasha!)

When strictly did fusion week in 2012, we were unsure how a Cha Cha Cha and a Tango would work together however Pasha’s amazing choreography, the music, costumes and Kimberley’s amazing dancing and acting made this a magical performance which went down in our books as one of our favourite performances of the last 10 years. It didn’t just rain men but rained tens on the night, with this couple picking up a perfect 40!

We also loved the contrasting cheeky Cha Cha and tantalisingly passionate Tango sections which Kimberley performed perfectly. It’s why we’ve chosen it for our tango Tuesday fix. We hope you enjoy watching:

World Voice Day! A Strictly Support Group Chat

So for tonight’s fun, we had a little chat with you which was World Voice Day related. Over the last 11 series, lots of musicians and pop stars have appeared as contestants on our favourite show. With it being World Voice Day, we thought we’d try and find out which popstar has been your favourite on Strictly.

We had lots of fantastic responses from you all. Here are some of our favourite tweets:

We had a few suggestions, but it seems that you all overwhelmingly felt that Kimberley Walsh was the best popstar that had appeared on strictly. We’ve nominated her as our World Voice Day Ambassador and would love to find out your favourite dance of hers and Pasha, so have set up a poll. The winning dance will be revealed tomorrow evening. Cast your vote in the poll below:

All-Stars Strictly?

We saw this tweet from Kimberly Walsh and Kristina Rihanoff earlier and couldn’t help but think this would be an amazing idea:

We then asked you who you would like to see on an all-star version of Strictly. Here are some of our favourite tweets from last night:

If you can think of anyone you’d like to see on an all-star strictly, tweet @scd_support or comment on this post below. We’d love to hear from you.

The greatest Tango of all time (according to you lovely people!)

So your votes have been cast, Β counted, checked and verified. We’re pleased to announce the Tango you consider the greatest of all time is the amazing Kimberley and Pasha’s Tango which taught us not only what it sounds like when doves cry (tweet tweet) but what pure perfection looked like! We love the Tango and it would be our dream come true to dance Tango like that (especially if Pasha was involved!)

So here, especially for you is Kimberley and Pasha’s tempestuous, thrilling and terrific Tango.

We hope you enjoyed it. Also, massive congratulations to Kimberley and her partner Justin on their happy news. We think they’ll make amazing parents.

Roses are red, Violets are blue, We love strictly as much as you do!

Yes, it’s Valentine’s Day, a day for us to declare our mutual love of Strictly, sequins, glitter and all that Jazz!

You may remember earlier in the week, we asked you what the most Romantic Dance on Strictly had been for you. Well, the results are in and we posted them on our twitter feed @scd_support earlier.

Please do not vote now as your vote won’t count. So the results in no particular orderΒ are in. In 4th place was the beautiful waltz from Abbey and Aljaz which left us searching for kleenex it was that stunning. It was simple, elegant and effective and gave us a serious case of dress envy (as did all Abbey’s costumes as she always looked gaw-jus!) Here’s a clip to remind you:-

In 3rd place, was 2012 runner-up Kimberley Walsh and her Partner Pasha Kovalev with their twilight-inspired Viennese Waltz. Everything was perfect about this dance and we well and truly fell in love with them as a partnership (admittedly us, like half the female population already loved Pasha.) Here’s our second Valentine’s day treat for you:

Our 3rd Valentine’s Day treat was the stunning Showdance from Susanna Reid and Kevin Clifton. It was beautifully choreographed and was a show dance (not a lift-fest.) We were in tears watching it it was so beautiful and it’s possibly one of our favourite showdances of all time. We’re providing Kleenex for this one, so here’s a reminder of how amazing it was and some tissues:

And finally, time for the dance you thought was the most Romantic. It was Kara and Artem’s divine Viennese Waltz. Β Like all their dances, this showed their chemistry and relationship grow. Kara’s dress also gave us dress envy and it was perfect in every way.

So those conclude our Valentine’s Day surprises. We hope they cheered you up, however if you’re single and feeling a bit low, this dance will definitely make you feel empowered and smile.

Dani and Vincent’s Samba

Happy Valentine’s Day from Cassie and all at the Strictly Support Group πŸ™‚
