Smooth Sunday – The Very First Strictly Support Group American Smooth-Off!

Today just happens to be International Women’s’ Day! We know that on Strictly there have been many inspirational ladies who have performed over the years.  Today is a chance to celebrate this special occasion, and in true Strictly Support Group Style, we’re showing you not one, but two American Smooths from two wonderful ladies.

We’re hosting another Strictly Support Group Dance-Off. This time, it’s the battle of the American Smooths. We’re showing you two fab-u-lous dances. The first one is from Ali Bastian and Brian Fortuna. The second American Smooth is from Natalie Gumede and Artem Chigvintsev. In our opinion, these are two of the best American Smooths ever performed on Strictly. In fact, they’re both so good, we can’t decide so need your help to choose the ultimate winner!

Once you’ve watched both these dances, just vote in the poll below. We’ll reveal the winner at 8pm tonight!

Have a great day and a humungous, glittery good luck to all those taking part in the Comic Relief Danceathon today. Enjoy doing something funny and sparkly for money!

Monday Memory – A Tour Dance We’re Very Proud Of!

*sings* We’re rollin’, rollin’, rollin’ on a river *starts jiving around like a lunatic*

This morning, we’ll happily admit that this dance worked better than our alarm clock and it helped us spring out of bed ready for the day ahead.

Everyday this week, we’re showing you some of our favourite Tour memories of all time. Today’s is a true treat which’ll make you smile!

Although we never got to watch this dance on the live show, watching it on the tour was worth the wait. It was a dance that made us truly proud of the wonderful world of Strictly. It was fast, fun, fab-u-lous, flawless and a fringe-filled fiesta of dancing delight!

Today we’re watching the wonderful Jive from Natalie and Artem. We truly loved this dance and hope you will too. Here they are with this wonderful dance:

Showdance Sunday

*Checks the Strictly Support Group rule book* Sundays are normally Smooth Sundays where you show an American Smooth. *rips up said rule book*

This week, I’ve decided to change the rules and show a Showdance in honour of last night’s fab-u-lous final! I’ve chosen Natalie and Artem’s showdance from last year’s final.

This dance was not only technically perfect but featured every dance style imaginable as well as lots of jumps tricks and poles. Natalie looked stunning in green which is an achievement in itself. On a more slightly serious note, it left us grinning like the Cheshire Cat.

So, here it is, just for you Natalie and Artem’s fab-u-lous showdance. We hope you enjoy it:

We’d love to hear what you thought of this dance. Tweet @scd_support or comment below. We’re also hosting a poll to find your favourite showdance. Just vote below and we’ll reveal the results on Tuesday after 7.30pm:

Throwback Thursday – A Dance That Comes From Russia With Love

Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock for the last week, you will probably have realised that this week in the world of Strictly will be Around the World Week (*inserts note* although we did refer to it accidentally as Around the World Wee on Sunday night, that’s something entirely different.)

We’ll be seeing some fabulous dances including a Turkish Delight of a Charleston from Caroline and Pasha, A Vegas-inspired Salsa from Mark and Karen, a Greek (yes Greek!) Argentine Tango from Jake and Janette and a Dutch themed Viennese Waltz from Pixie and Trent. We cannot wait, so to mark the occasion, DJ Meow mixed a Spotify Playlist especially for the occasion. Just click this link to listen to it, http://open.spotify.com/user/cassiopoeia85/playlist/0k4oINbsHkNmuWZX1wIuEC.

From now until Saturday we’ll be showing some world-inspired dances that have been performed on Planet Strictly. Grab your passports as for today’s dance, we’re taking you to Russia, to watch a Cha Cha from last series. We’re watching Natalie and Artem’s fabulous dance.

When Natalie performed this in week 1, she quickly showed that she was top of the class, and when she performed it again in the final, it was truly magical. We don’t normally like Cha Cha Chas (they can be a little Dull Dull Dull) but this Cha Cha was cheeky, fun, expertly choreographed and performed. We loved the music, Artem’s costume 😍 and the dancing too! For us we’d give it 10/10. We hope you enjoy watching this dance. Here are Natalie and Artem with their Cha Cha Cha:

Wednesday Warm-Up – A dance to make you jump up and down and scream “Yeah!”

This morning we treated you to one of our favourite Quicksteps from Strictly 2013 when we showed you Natalie and Artem’s gorgeous dance.

This is a dance that can make us smile whatever our mood and however dull or dreary it may be outside. It also makes us feel amazed when we remember that Natalie had badly injured her back, yet still managed to dance this high impact and energy routine to perfection! Now that’s dedication and true professionalism for you! Natalie, we salute you!

It was a truly fabulous dance and one of our favourite dances from last series. It’s a performance that will make you smile and scream yeah! It may also make you jump up and down and will most certainly cure your hump day blues!

Here are Natalie and Artem with their gorgeous quickstep! We hope you enjoy watching it:

Wednesday Warm-Up – A Trip Back in Time to the 1920s

For today’s Wednesday Warm-up, we’re heading back to the 1920s, well almost! We’re going back to Blackpool last year to watch the phenomenal Charleston from Natalie and Artem.

This dance captured the atmosphere of a 1920s speakeasy perfectly and had lots of amazing choreography with tricks, kicks, jumps, cartwheels, acrobatics and the goofiness we love in the Charleston.

Natalie’s dress was amazing and she looked quite the part of a 1920s Flapper Girl. We have to admit it was impossible to tell her and the pro dancers apart as she was amazing.

Credit must also go to Artem for his amazing choreography. We will miss seeing him on the show this year. After watching this dance, we can clearly say our Hump Day blues have been washed away. We really hope you enjoy this dance so here it is just for you, Natalie and Artem’s amazing Charleston:

Samba Saturday – A Carnival of a Dance that was Pretty in Pink

We’re bursting with excitement right now, so excited we may have done a few botafogos in our living room earlier this morning! This afternoon we’re being taken to see Brasil Brasileiro at Sadler’s Wells, so it seemed appropriate to pick a Samba for today’s Strictly Fix.

Whilst searching through the Strictly Archives, we came across a Samba we loved from Strictly 2013. It captured the Carnival Atmosphere and featured a gorgeous dress with a pink tail. The technique was amazing as was the Choreography and we felt it was a little undermarked. Yes, we’re watching Natalie and Artem’s stunning Samba.

We loved this dance and hope you will too. It’s the sort of dance that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face and has got us really excited about the Samba we’ll be watching later today. If you’re feeling down, watch it! We’re pretty sure it’ll turn your frown upside down:

We hope you enjoyed watching that dance and would love to hear what you thought of it. Tweet @scd_support or comment in the box below. We look forward to hearing from you. We’re off to go and watch some Samba! Have a wonderful day.

Tango Tuesday – The Results of our Strictly World Cup

Yesterday evening, we counted far more votes than there were goals in the World Cup Final! I think we can safely say our Argentine Tango Strictly World Cup had just as much drama as the World Cup Final, but was slightly more exciting for us Strictly Fans!

Your votes have been checked, counted and verified and we can now reveal the results.

In third place, matching the Netherlands’ efforts in Brazil, we have Natalie and Artem with their HOT Argentine Tango.

In second place we have the phenomenal Argentine Tango from Kara Tointon and Artem

This not only makes Artem both an honorary Argentinian and Dutchman, but also a legendary choreographer as he’s the only one to have two dances feature in the top three of the poll.

Finally, the winner, as chosen by you is Mark Ramprakash and Karen Hardy’s steamy, passionate and spine tinglingly chilling Argentine Tango from 2006. This is the iconic Argentine Tango and we fully agree with you on your choice! Mark and Karen, if you’re reading this, here is your Strictly World Cup…. πŸ† As a reminder, here is their amazing Argentine Tango for you all one more time:

We hope you enjoyed watching that dance. Let us know what you thought of it either by tweeting @scd_support or commenting below. We’d love to hear from you.

Throwback Thursday – We’re stepping out and trying something new

In the history of Strictly Come Dancing, lots of songs have graced the presence of the ballroom twice, thrice or even more, so for our Throwback Thursday, we thought we’d try something different showing you two dances that have been danced to the same song and putting them against one another as a duel! Strictly producers, if you’re reading this, lots of us would like to see duels between couples on the next series.

For today’s dances we’ve chosen two perfect routines:
Pamela and James’s Amazing Quickstep
And Natalie and Artem’s Phenomenal Showdance.

Both these dances were performed to the song “stepping out with my baby” and both achieved perfect scores. They were brilliantly choreographed and danced. Both feature amazing tap dance and quickstep sections that will take your breath away. We love them both equally and cannot decide which is best, but we know you can help us! *flutters eyelids*

Just watch both these dances and then vote in the poll below to tell us who you think should win the ultimate duel. Simples!

We hope you liked watching both these dances and would love to hear what you think of them. Just comment below or tweet us @scd_support. We’d love to hear from you.

A weekend of dance treats for you – Salsa Saturday and Smooth Sunday to die for!

This weekend we spoilt you to two wonderful and iconic dances from the Strictly Archives.

On Saturday, we showed you John Barnes and Nicole Cutler’s sensational Salsa. We loved how natural this dance looked and it suited John so well, it’s no wonder Len gave it a 10! It brightened up our day and we hope it did the same to yours. Here it is again, just incase you missed it:

Today, we were watching (and miming along to) Natalie Gumede and Artem Chigvintsev’s gorgeous American Smooth. Although Len criticised this dance, it was beautifully choreographed and perfectly danced. It had us glued to our seats and singing along into our hairbrushes (or other microphone substitute!) We hope you enjoy this dance too:

If you’d like to nominate a dance for Salsa Saturday, Smooth Sunday, Tango Tuesday or Foxtrot Friday simply DM us on twitter @scd_support or drop us an email to strictlysupportgroup@aol.co.uk. We’d love to hear from you.
