Strictly 2015 – Au Revoir Ainsley & Natalie!

Last night, Ainsley and Natalie’s time in the Strictly ballroom came to an end, as they were voted out of Strictly 2015.

Over the last 5 weeks we have seen Ainsley bring his amazing, fun personality (and his cravate) to both the training room and the ballroom floor!

He has been a man of many faces (we loved his Tango and Salsa face!,) danced as a penguin on live TV and has truly embraced the Strictly sparkle, as Natalie said tonight “he is what Strictly Come Dancing is all about!”

As a pairing they looked like they were having the best time dancing on Strictly and we’re sure they’ll be friends for life!

We loved this partnership and really wanted them to go a lot further!

Ainsley and Natalie, you will be missed. We’d like this to become a tribute to them. Comment below with your messages of support and we’ll make sure they see them. Here are their best bits…

Throwback Thursday – A Master(chef)ful Paso Doble For Your Tastebuds!

Tonight sees the launch of Celebrity Masterchef and we’re cooking up a treat for your tastebuds with today’s Throwback Thursday.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last month, you’ll probably know that the wonderful Natalie Lowe will be competing and being judged by none other than Gregg Wallace. We’ll be watching the show and having a short Masterchef themed chat from 7pm, however for today’s Throwback Thursday we’re watching the inspirational Paso Doble which won the People’s Strictly this year.

This dance had the perfect recipe for a Paso Doble:

1) It was Strong and Powerful like a Mature Cheddar Cheese

2) It had more Fire than a Scotch Bonnet Chilli Pepper

3) It had traditional choreography and cape work, just like the family lemon drizzle cake recipe!

4) It had great music and drama! Just like the Masterchef kitchen

5) It also had a heart-warming heroic story which made us all a little emotional, just like chopping an onion!

We loved this dance and it’s easy to see why watching it. Here are Cassidy and Natalie with their wonderful Paso Doble.

We’d love to hear what you thought of that dance. Tweet us @scd_support or comment below to let us know.

We’ll be here from 7pm with our Masterchef chat! We hope you can join us then.

Domestic Goddess in Training!

30 Day Challenge- Bella’s A to Z of Strictly. N is for @realnatalielowe

It’s Sunday & day 14 of my Strictly Alphabet. Today it’s time for the letter N! On Strictly there is a Princess in the Ballroom called Natalie! She’s one of the professional dancers and always looks like a beautiful princess when she dances. Look, I even have a bunny rabbit named after her too:

Natalie the Ballerina Bunny – She can’t dance that well yet, but she’s only a few days old!

It’s Natalie Lowe. She is a patient and kind teacher who always gets the best out of the celebrities and people she’s partnered with. She even won the People’s Strictly and got a Glitterball. I was really happy because she really deserved to win a shiny, pretty Glitterball! *dreams of glitter*

As it’s Smooth Sunday, mummy helped me choose 2 American Smooths. These are two of my favourite American Smooths Natalie has choreographed and performed. The lifts look like great fun, the dances look beautiful and Natalie’s dresses were very pretty.

My first American Smooth is from Natalie and Michael Vaughan. They performed this at Wembley to a song about New York! That must have been really confusing for any Taxi Drivers!

The second dance is from Natalie and Ricky Whittle to “Somewhere Over the Rainbow!” I was still in my mummy’s tummy when they performed this dance, but mummy said it made her cry in a good way because it was very beautiful. I think it was lovely too. Even if Grumpy Len didn’t like it, I did and think it was beautiful!

I’d have given both dances a 10/10! Which dance did you prefer! Watch both the videos below and let me know. You can tweet me @scd_support or comment below.

I’ll be back tomorrow with the next letter on my A to Z of Strictly! Have a lovely day everyone!

Wednesday Warm-Up – The Great Strictly Support Group Disney Dance Off!

It’s that time of the week again, time for our Wednesday Warm-Up. Whilst we spend the day with the Disney Princesses in their magical kingdom, today we hosted a Disney Dance-Off.

We showed you two wonderful quicksteps earlier, both of which had magical Disney themes. We showed you Pixie and Trent’s beauty of a quickstep and Scott and Natalie’s jungle-tastic dance. In case you missed them earlier, here they are again:

It got us thinking *pulls out mirror and gazes longingly into it* Mirror Mirror On The Wall, Which Disney Dance Is the Greatest of them all? So, in true Strictly Support Group style, we’re hosting a poll. Just choose watch the dances above and vote for your favourite in the poll below.

We’ll reveal the result tonight at 7.30pm. Have a magical afternoon everyone!

Saturday’s Strictly Fix – An Inspirational, Remarkable Dance!

Last night, we sat down and watched Cassidy and Natalie be crowned The First Ever People’s Strictly champions. Cassidy is a true hero and his dramatic, controlled Paso Doble and capework which were amazing and remarkable.

We felt all 6 couples deserved to win glitterballs as they were truly inspirational and amazing, however for today’s Strictly Fix, we’re not showing you a Salsa or Samba *pulls a shocked face* but we’re showing you the awesome Caso Doble Paso Doble from Natalie and Cassidy.

This dance was dramatic, dynamic and delightful. It gave us goosebumps which we hadn’t experienced since Susanna and Kevin’s wonderful Paso Doble at Blackpool. Cassidy was strong and commanding and his cape work was brilliant. The fact he was able to dance with a blade was remarkable. He performed this dance with ease and we loved it. It got a well-deserved 40/40.

We love it and hope you will too. Here are Natalie and Cassidy with the wonderful Caso Doble:

The People’s Strictly – Show 1 Recap. Warning: You may need tissues! 😢

There is normally a glittery hole in our TV schedules lasting around nine months, from just after Christmas until September, so as soon as we heard The People’s Strictly was going to be on our screens and filling a whole 4 weeks of this glittery hole, we did everything humanly possible to ensure we didn’t miss it!

Last night, we all sat down with our Strictly Snacks to watch this inspirational and wonderful programme. We instantly regretted not buying tissues while we did the Supermarket Shimmy, but have put these on our list for next week. Not even 10 minutes into the show and this happened:

https://twitter.com/scd_support/status/570691533298655234

We met the first 3 of our everyday heroes as they found out they were going to be on the show and took their very first steps.

We met the lovely and truly inspirational Heather Parsons, who has dedicated her life to making sure that families of those in intensive care are looked after. We also met the heroic Cassidy Little, who as an ex-Royal Marine, is a true hero in his own right. We also met the wonderful Michael Pattie who himself has proven that Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, but about learning to dance in the rain, having become the most active and succesful fundraiser for Meningitis Research Foundation in Scotland.

Heather and Ian – Team Heatherwaite

Michael and Aliona – Team Alipattie

Natalie and Cassidy – Team Natalie Cassidy

We heard their background stories, which truly moved us to tears (and made us regret not having a sparkly tissue box.) We also saw them being truly surprised and learning they were going to be on The People’s Strictly. Heather was surprised with a Supermarket Shimmy from Joanne Clifton, Russell Grant and lots of fantastic dancers. We like to think this is what shopping trips are like on Planet Strictly.  We saw Cassidy being surprised by the Royal Marines Band, Brendan Cole, Kimberley Walsh and lots of dancers in Portsmouth, and we saw Michael being surprised by the lovely Alison Hammond and Anton Du Beke, in operation Secret Santa at a Christmas lights switch on.

We also saw our couples meet their professional partners and take their first steps in the ballroom. Heather went to Vienna to learn the Viennese Waltz (and met a Kevin from Grimsby look-a-like.) Cassidy went to Madrid to the Spanish National Ballet to learn the Paso Doble (and lots of cape wafting) and Michael got to go to Eastbourne to learn how to tango from the masters of tango, Vincent and Flavia. They all looked naturals in the ballroom, and it goes to show that us fans know just what dances look like. For us, they are all truly winners in their own right and it’s going to be extremely hard to choose the overall winner.

We feel this quote sums up the spirit of the show perfectly:

We asked you wonderful people what you thought of the show. Here is your reaction:

We have to agree, it is a truly wonderful, fabulous show and even if it made our eyes leak, we’re going to keep watching and following each of the couples. If you, like us, are a little sensitive, here’s a hug from us.

What did you think of the show? Let us know, either by commenting in the post below or tweeting @scd_support, we look forward to hearing from you. We’ll be back next Wednesday from 9pm to see our remaining 3 heroes, Anna, Trishna and Phil, take their first steps in the ballroom. We hope you can join us then.

Foxtrot Friday – A dance as sweet as apple pie!

Today happens to be Pie Day! We have a feeling if Strictly were a pie, it’d be super sweet and glittery, just like this glitter mud pie:

2015/01/img_3844.gif

Now this link’s a little tenuous, but the foxtrot reminds us of a sweet apple pie with it’s smooth and sweet nature, and today we’re celebrating Pie Day by watching a Foxtrot which gave us the sweetest feeling ever! It’s Michael Vaughan and Natalie Lowe’s gorgeous Foxtrot. Not only did they look the part (Natalie’s dress was stunning) but they floated across the floor more smoothly than whipped cream and the music, concept and choreography were as sweet as apple pie (which is a good thing because we have a very sweet tooth!)

We loved this dance and hope you will too. Here are Michael and Natalie with their elegant, sweet foxtrot:

We hope you enjoyed watching that dance. Let us know what you think of it. You can either tweet @scd_support or comment below. We look forward to hearing from you.

Smooth Sunday – A Dance Straight from the Big Apple.

Last night we saw our magnificent seven travel around the world for a wonderful show. We were once again truly amazed by the quality of dancing and choreography and it’ll be very hard to say goodbye to any of our couples tonight.

We wanted to continue the around the world theme for a little bit longer, so have chosen to show you one of our favourite worldwide American Smooths. We’ve chosen Michael Vaughan and Natalie Lowe’s American Smooth from New York, New York. This dance was so good, they named it twice.

In a few weeks’ time we’ll be jetting across the Atlantic to spend time with family and we cannot wait.

This performance never fails to make us smile and takes us back to our trip across the pond earlier this year.

The choreography was gorgeous and the dance itself was full of the old-school Hollywood Glamour. We loved the Music and the staging too. Natalie’s dress also gave us serious dress envy. Although it didn’t score the highest score on the night, Michael’s improvement in his dancing was visible and we really loved this dance.

We hope you’ve enjoyed your little trip to the Big Apple. As a little postcard memory, here is Michael and Natalie’s gorgeous and glamorous American Smooth:

Tango Tuesday – A Fierce Tango From The Home Of Ballroom

Every day this week, in honour of our celebrities, pros, judges, presenters and anyone connected with the show heading oop north to Blackpool, we’re showing you some of our favourite Blackpool moments.

There’s been one tango performed at Blackpool which stuck in our mind, and that’s the tango performed by Ricky Whittle and Natalie Lowe in 2009.

This dance was full of attitude, fire and aggression. Natalie looked gorgeous as ever in purple and the choreography and music were bold and perfect for Blackpool. It was sharp, powerful and fierce! Although it didn’t get 10s it is still one of our all time favourite Blackpool routines.

We loved it and hope you do to. Here are Ricky and Natalie with their tango which will tempt and tease you:

We hope you enjoyed watching that dance and would love to hear what you thought of it. Tweet us @scd_support, comment below on wordpress, like, share or comment on Facebook too!

Smooth Sunday – We’re taking you somewhere over the rainbow

For today’s Smooth Sunday we’re taking you somewhere over the rainbow to watch a magical American Smooth from the archives.

Today it’s Remembrance Sunday and we’re going back to 2009 to see this beautiful dance from Natalie Lowe and Ricky Whittle. This dance brings back lots of memories for us so seemed a appropriate for Remembrance Sunday.

When we first saw this dance we did get a little emotional and thought it was soft, floaty, romantic and everything an American Smooth should be.

The song choice brought a tear to our eye and Hayley and the band performed it brilliantly. Natalie’s dress was stunning, the choreography and lifts were beautiful and it made our eyes very leaky.

We loved this dance and from us they deserved a 10. We hope you enjoy watching it.

We’d love to hear what you thought of it. Tweet us @scd_support, comment on our new facebook page (Strictly Support Group) or below. We’d love to hear from you.
