Strictly Couple Weeks – Mark and Karen – Day 4

It’s Day 4 of our Mark and Karen themed Strictly Couple Week and today we’re watching one of our very favourite Paso Dobles!

Over the years on Strictly there have been many a memorable Paso Doble (off the subject but thank you Mr Kevin Clifton for your amazing Paso Dobles over the last 4 years. In our house the Paso Doble is now from Grimsby) but today’s dance we shared on our Twitter and Facebook pages was one of the very first Paso Dobles we fell in love with.

Mark had proven himself a contender in the previous two weeks, but he came across as such a lovely guy, we were unsure this dance would suit him. How wrong were we? He came out there and performed with so much passion and agression *that cape work* that we fell in love.

The choreography was traditional, the music reminded us of one of our favourite movies of all time (Strictly Ballroom) and the costumes were divine!

We loved this dance, and in case you missed it earlier, here it is again:

We’d love to hear what you thought of this dance. You can tweet or leave a comment below to let us know. We look forward to hearing from you!

Have a lovely afternoon.

Strictly Support Group – Strictly Couple Weeks – Team Glita – Day 3

It’s the hottest day of the year for many today, and whilst we’re enjoying a nice frozen treat (magnum ice cream) we thought it’d be good to share a dance of Team Glita’s which was so hot, it caused a heatwave and for Seville to come to Blackpool.

We’re talking about their incredible Paso which rocked the Tower Ballroom in 2015. It saw Anita earn her very first 10, from Bruno, and was full of so much drama and passion we could not take our eyes off Gleb ๐Ÿ˜ or Anita. It was a truly mesmerising dance from start to finish, filled with Spanish flair.

Paso Dobles always seem to wow even more than normal when they’re performed at Blackpool. There is something extra special about seeing Pasos performed on the Ballroom floor there and they always seem to be some of the most memorable dances.

In case you missed it earlier, here is their brilliant Paso Doble:

We’d love to hear what you thought of this dance, just tweet us @scd_support or comment below to let us know what you thought. We look forward to hearing from you.

Throwback Thursday – A Master(chef)ful Paso Doble For Your Tastebuds!

Tonight sees the launch of Celebrity Masterchef and we’re cooking up a treat for your tastebuds with today’s Throwback Thursday.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the last month, you’ll probably know that the wonderful Natalie Lowe will be competing and being judged by none other than Gregg Wallace. We’ll be watching the show and having a short Masterchef themed chat from 7pm, however for today’s Throwback Thursday we’re watching the inspirational Paso Doble which won the People’s Strictly this year.

This dance had the perfect recipe for a Paso Doble:

1) It was Strong and Powerful like a Mature Cheddar Cheese

2) It had more Fire than a Scotch Bonnet Chilli Pepper

3) It had traditional choreography and cape work, just like the family lemon drizzle cake recipe!

4) It had great music and drama! Just like the Masterchef kitchen

5) It also had a heart-warming heroic story which made us all a little emotional, just like chopping an onion!

We loved this dance and it’s easy to see why watching it. Here are Cassidy and Natalie with their wonderful Paso Doble.

We’d love to hear what you thought of that dance. Tweet us @scd_support or comment below to let us know.

We’ll be here from 7pm with our Masterchef chat! We hope you can join us then.

Strictly Support Group – The Election (Day 5!)

What do you get if you mix one of the most iconic ballrooms of the world with traditional music and choreography? *hears her brain cogs making a funny noise* Easy! The best ever Paso Doble to have ever been performed at Blackpool  on Strictly Come Dancing, ever!

We couldn’t run a Strictly Support Group General Election without a journalist, so the 5th Candidate in our Ballroom General Election is The Paso Doble from Susanna Reid and Kevin Clifton!

There are several reasons we have chosen this dance as one of our candidates in the election:

1) It was record-breaking – the applause from the crowd broke the loudest ever applause heard on British TV

2) It is, in our opinion the best ever Paso Doble to have been performed on Strictly – It had great music, choreography, drama, passion, story-telling, all the atmosphere of a Spanish bullfight and Kevin from Grimsby in very tight trousers ๐Ÿ˜ What more could you ask for from a dance on Strictly?

3) It was our favourite routine of Strictly 2013 and showed how much Susanna had progressed from day 1. It also showed that Kevin is an awesome teacher and choreographer. It really deserved 4 10’s in our opinion (take note Mr Revel Horwood!)

We loved it and hope you will too! Here are Susanna Reid and Kevin from Grimsby with their wonderful Paso Doble:

We hope you enjoyed watching that dance and would love to hear what you thought of it. You can tweet us @scd_support or comment below. We look forward to hearing from you.

So Susanna and Kevin join Gethin and Camilla, Mark and Iveta, Alesha and Matthew and Chelsee and Pasha as candidates in our Strictly Support Group Election. Who will be the final two candidates? Join us tomorrow to find out.

Saturday’s Strictly Fix – An Inspirational, Remarkable Dance!

Last night, we sat down and watched Cassidy and Natalie be crowned The First Ever People’s Strictly champions. Cassidy is a true hero and his dramatic, controlled Paso Doble and capework which were amazing and remarkable.

We felt all 6 couples deserved to win glitterballs as they were truly inspirational and amazing, however for today’s Strictly Fix, we’re not showing you a Salsa or Samba *pulls a shocked face* but we’re showing you the awesome Caso Doble Paso Doble from Natalie and Cassidy.

This dance was dramatic, dynamic and delightful. It gave us goosebumps which we hadn’t experienced since Susanna and Kevin’s wonderful Paso Doble at Blackpool. Cassidy was strong and commanding and his cape work was brilliant. The fact he was able to dance with a blade was remarkable. He performed this dance with ease and we loved it. It got a well-deserved 40/40.

We love it and hope you will too. Here are Natalie and Cassidy with the wonderful Caso Doble:

Monday Memory – A Fierce Dance That Was Pure Perfection

We all know there are moments in Strictly where music, choreography, costumes, performance and dancing all come together to make something beautiful, and Saturday was no exception. It rained 10s in Blackpool.

Last year we were wowed by Susanna Reid and Kevin Clifton’s brilliant Paso Doble and this year Pixie and Trent performed a Paso of gargantuan proportions which was just as good and got awarded a phenomenal 38/40.

When we asked you on Saturday what your favourite dance was, you overwhelmingly voted for this dance. Watching it back, it’s easy to see why.

The gladiator theme created power, strength and passion. Pixie’s dress was gorgeous (although she would look good in a binbag!) Trent produced some wonderful choreography which Pixie performed brilliantly and in the sections with backing dancers it was impossible to tell her apart from the professionals. The music was perfect for a Paso. It was strong and powerful and added to the whole atmosphere. What with it being performed in. Blackpool, this was just the icing on the cake!

We loved this dance and hope you will too. Here are Pixie and Trent with their Paso Doble:

We hope you enjoyed watching that dance. Tweet us @scd_support or comment below to let us know what you thought of it. We’d love to hear from you.

Memory Monday – A Trip To The Tower Ballroom

Grab your bucket and spade, your stick of rock and your candy floss! Today marks the start of Blackpool week and in its honour, we’re showing you some of our favourite ever Blackpool Dances this week! At the end of the week there’ll be a poll to decide the ultimate best Blackpool Dance.

For us, having a massive Team Kevanna fan in residence, Susanna and Kevin’s Paso Doble from last year has to be top of our list. Not only was it fierce, passionate, dramatic and brilliant, but it also broke the record for the loudest ever applause on Strictly! Kevin’s outfit was great and they both burnt up a storm the Blackpool Floor. They scored their first 10s of the competition and this dance really made Susanna a contender for the final.

It also is a memorable dance which will go down in history as being an iconic Blackpool moment which transported us to Seville (via Grimsby of course!) We loved it and hope you will too. Here are Susanna and Kevin with their Paso. Hashtag Paso Face:

We’d love to hear what you thought of this dance. Tweet us @scd_support or comment in the box below. You can also like, share and comment on our brand spanking new Facebook Page – Strictly Support Group.

Tango Tuesday – A Tribute to a Brave and Inspirational Lady

Yesterday we paid tribute to the inspirational Lynda Bellingham, who sadly passed away from cancer.

Although her time on Strictly was only short, she touched us with her love of dance whilst she was on the show. She was like a mum to many and always came across as a caring and affectionate lady.

She will be sorely missed by lots of us, so yesterday we paid tribute with a picture for which we received lots of lovely comments (see tweets below)

We know it’s Tango Tuesday, but in honour of such a brave lady, we decided to rip up the rule book today. For us, the best of her dances was her Paso Doble, so today we’ve decided to show it to you as your Strictlified treat. For us, this dance was dramatic, passionate and fiery, showing Lynda’s brave and courageous personality. We loved it and think it’s a fitting tribute to the lady who was mum to so many. Here are Lynda and Darren with their Paso Doble. We hope you enjoy it:

We’d love this post to become a tribute to Lynda Bellingham. Comment with your tributes for her below.
