Over the last 3 weeks, one of you, our fab-u-lous followers has won our quizzes! The lovely @sparkleyalex has shown us that she well and truly is an expert on all things Strictly.
As a prize, we agreed to let her choose today’s Samba Saturday. She chose 3 superb Sambas. Her first Samba Saturday fix came from Ali Bastian and Brian Fortuna.
Watching this Samba back it was easy to see why she chose it. It was to quote Alex “unique and gentle.” It had an understated spirit of carnival which really made us smile.
Her second Samba Saturday fix came from Mark and Iveta with their Roarsome Samba. To quote Alex “it was full of character and had great music!” We loved the cheeky character and it really made us smile.
Her final Samba is Scott and Joanne’s Crab-u-lous Samba. This routine will go down in Strictly History as one of our favourites.
Here are all 3 of Alex’s Sambas. We hope you enjoy watching them:
We’d love to hear what you thought of those three dances. Tweet us @scd_support or comment below to let us know your views.
Thank you to Alex for choosing our Samba Saturdays this week. We’ll be here from 7pm tonight for our weekly Strictly Support Group! We hope you can join us then.
People called Mark or Matt! If you’re asked to take part on Strictly, please say yes! Mummy’s shown me lots of Marks and Matt’s who’ve taken part on Strictly, and as Craig would say “Dah-lings you can dance!”
It’s day 13 of my 30 day blog challenge and today is brought to you by the letter M!
M is for Mark and Matt who have lots of rhythm and moves!
Over the last 11 years (that’s longer than I’ve been alive, you know!) there have been lots of Marks and Matts to take to the dancefloor on Strictly.
Having a look at things Marks have appeared in the Strictly Final twice (both with partners called Karen!) and Matts have appeared in the Strictly Final 4 times (one of these times was a professional dancer, but it still counts!) Spooky!
This shows us that Matts and Marks can dance and have natural rhythm and lots of moves.
As it’s Saturday, mummy says I need to show you a Salsa and a Samba. I couldn’t make my mind up which Salsa or Samba to show you today (it’s harder than choosing between chocolate cake and lemon drizzle cake!) so I’ve made a playlist of the great Sambas and Salsa from Matts and Marks. Watch the videos and then let me know which is your favourite. You can tweet me @scd_support or comment below:
I’m off to watch Matilda now with my Mummy and Daddy, but Mummy says don’t forget to join her from 7.30pm tonight for her Strictly Support Group chat.
*Beep beep* Our car is meant to look sparkly and shiny, just like the glitterball, but it’s been a little bit neglected over the last few weeks (Sorry Tigger the Tiguan!) To help inspire us today, we decided to show you this dance earlier, and it really worked. We’re pretty sure that the sight of some gorgeous male dancers wearing dungarees helped, but think the whole feel-good spirit of the dance made us take our car to the car wash straight away.
Today we’re watching the wonderful Team RIro (Lisa Riley and Robin Windsor) with their high-energy, bouncy, bubbly, colourful, split-filled, fab-u-lous Samba. It was a dance that made us smile and want to get up and dance, as well as go along to the car wash.
We clicked our heels together, but sadly it wasn’t to be. We didn’t get a recreation of this samba. (#sadface.) A girl can only dream. Next time we go to the Car Wash we’ll close our eyes and hope this happens. Here are Lisa and Robin with their wonderful Samba. We hope you enjoy it:
We love baking, and love the Great British Bake-Off as much as we love Strictly, so for today’s Samba Saturday, we decided to fold mix the two together to make what can only be described as *creates suspense and cues dramatic music* The Great Strictly Support Group Samba Off!
We treated you to two Sambas earlier this morning. Both were performed by Team Markarena (mark 1 and 2.) In case you missed them, here they are:
If, like us, your reaction on hearing who killed Lucy Beale, looked something like this:
we’re pretty sure you’ll find today’s Samba Saturday light relief. In fact, we’re pretty sure, this dance is how the Eastenders cast will be chilling out after this week’s revelations. Yes! We’re pretty sure they do the Macarena in their spare time.
We’re watching Jake and Janette’s superb, zany, wonderful Samba. We loved this dance, especially the costumes, outfits, snake hips, twerking and music. We even managed to teach a 4 yr old at home how to macarena in time to the music.
It was one of those moments of Strictly pure joy which made us smile. We hope you enjoy it too. Here are Jake and Janette (aka Team Snakey Jan Jakey) performing their fab-u-lous Samba. We dare you to dance along at home. Go on, you know you want to!
*Stops dancing the Macarena!* We’d love to hear what you thought of that dance. Tweet @scd_support or comment in the box below. We look forward to hearing from you.
*Provides audience with earplugs before bursting into a rendition of Love is in the air* Now I’ve got your attention, and you’ve avoided hearing my singing, it’s time to wish you all a very Happy Valentine’s Day!
Whether you’re spending the day alone, with friends or family or with your beloved, we think this dance will most definitely put you in the mood for a party and will make you feel all loved-up inside *stares and starts seeing heart shapes all over her screen.* We’re pretty sure you’ll end up looking like this 😍.
We’re watching Ashley and Ola’s Lovely samba from last year’s Love week. We loved the concept, choreography and costumes. The music put us in the mood for a party and for week 3, the performance level from Ashley was top-notch. We scored it an 8/10 in our house and hope you’ll love it too! Here are Ashley and Ola with their fab-u-lous Samba:

*shimmies* Watching today’s Samba Saturday, we feel like we’re having a party and we haven’t even blown up any balloons. Today we’re watching a dance which was full of the carnival atmosphere and had so much energy we just wanted to join in at home. We’re watching Team Markarena (Mark Wright and Karen Hauer) show us that the only way to Samba.
We loved this dance for several reasons:
1) It was a turning point for Mark where he came out and gave it everything, showing he was a contender. Coming back after being in the Dance-Off the week before and performing like this takes guts and determination!
2) Karen’s costume was so bright, colourful and full of fringing, we felt we were watching the Rio Carnival.
3) The choreography – It had enough traditional Samba for Len, but also some great crowd-pleasing disco bits, and also who could resist Mark’s hips, he gave Snakey Jakey a run for his money! 😍
4) Craig’s lack of expression when Mark was girating on the Judge’s desk, we think he wasn’t watching the same dance as us, or Darcey!
We loved this dance and hope you will too. Here are Mark and Karen showing us the (w)right way to do a Samba:
We’d love to hear what you thought of that dance. Was that the way (ahaha) you liked it (ahahaha?) Let us know what you thought by commenting below. We look forward to hearing from you. We’re off to shimmy around town and do some (boring i.e. food) shopping. We’ll be here from 7.30pm tonight for our #strictlysupportgroup chat. We hope you can join us then!
Saturday is a chance for us to let our hair down, shimmy and dress up in as sparkly an outfit as possible, because it’s the weekend! We’re wearing sparkly slippers and a jumper in honour of the occasion. It’s got us in the party mood, as has today’s Samba Saturday fix.
Today’s dance is brought to you by one of The Saturdays, Frankie, and the wonderful Kevin Clifton (who appeared to get the short straw with this shirt…
When we first watched this dance, we felt they captured the party atmosphere perfectly, and although Frankie made some mistakes, we didn’t notice them. When they perfected it in the final it was great to see the routine get the scores it deserved. It was a dance that had us shimmying along at home. It had my four year old offering to colour in Kevin’s shirt. The whole dance made us smile it was so much fun! Even Derek the Donkey looked like he enjoyed himself.
We loved this dance and we hope you will love it too. Here are Frankie and Kevin with their fun-filled, fab-u-lous Samba. We hope you enjoy it and have a great Saturday:
We’d love to hear what you thought of that Samba in La Bamba. Tweet us @scd_support or comment below. We look forward to hearing from you.
As a parent, I have a special bond with Mr Claus. I may have asked him what his favourite ever Strictly Festive Moment was when we last met, a few weeks before Christmas. You may not know it, but Santa is a huge Strictly fan, and he helped us choose today’s Samba Saturday.
Santa chose Aled and Lilia’s festive Samba for today’s fix. He, like us loved the traditional music, as well as the choreography. We’d never seen a Strictly Festive Samba until this moment and it truly filled us with joy!
We’re pretty sure if Santa and his elves had a Christmas Party, this is how they’d dance.
We loved this routine and hope you will too. Here are Aled and Lilia with their festive Samba, sent from Lapland with love:
We ho-ho-hope you enjoyed watching that dance. Tweet us @scd_support to let us know what you thought of it, or comment below.
Today we’re taking you to the hottest night spot in Havana. It may not be night time yet, but we like to be prepared, and we can imagine if you were invited there you’d want to dance like this!
For today’s Samba Saturday, we’re watching the incredibly talented, speedy and fast Kevin and Karen dance along to music performed by Barry Manilow. This dance captures the carnival atmosphere and made us want to shimmy along *shimmies* at home.
Kevin and Karen both have so much energy they are so watchable and their dance can make even the grumpiest person (a.k.a my dad) smile.
We feel very privileged to have them as two professionals on Strictly, and for them to both be in the quarter-finals is incredible.
We know they’ve both been unwell this week so are wishing them lots of get well wishes and the best of luck for tonight. We’ll be watching and cheering along at home.
We hope you enjoy watching today’s Samba Saturday. Here are Kevin and Karen with their spectacular Samba to Barry Manilow’s Copacabana, a true party dance:
