It’s Saturday and whilst i wait for my little Strictly fan to finish her dance classes, I’m enjoying a sit down in a nearby Cafe. Part of me secretly hopes that a dancer like Giovanni will serve me, just so I can attempt (albeit badly) today’s Team GG week dance.
Yes, today we’ve chosen their sensational Samba set in a street side cafe! When we first saw this dance it wowed us and became one of our favourite dances of Strictly 2015. It had energy, speed and more bounce than the Easter bunny.
We love Giovanni’s choreography and thought that this dance was original and adventurous. Georgia pulled off his challenging choreography with ease and the performance was in our eyes sensational! We loved it!
In case you missed it earlier, here it is again just for you:

It’s the weekend and that can only mean one thing here at Strictly Support Group HQ, it’s time for a Samba or Salsa to help us shimmy into Saturday with style and Sparkle.
When we chose to put Danny and Oti in the spotlight it seemed natural to pick THE dance of Strictly 2016, yes the very first ever Perfect Scoring Samba. It had us cheering, shimmying and watching on in awe from our sofas.
It had a tribal feel which we loved and technically it was one of those moments of perfection which words cannot describe. When we saw them achieve a perfect 40, we may have screamed so loudly that our neighbour popped round to make sure we were ok! (Oops!)

It’s Saturday which can mean one thing! It’s time for us to shake and shimmy like nobody’s watching. Yes, it’s Samba time!
Unless you’ve been in hiding over the past week, you’ll know that this week saw the launch of our Strictly Couple Weeks. This week it’s the turn of us to remember some of the wonderful dances from Zoe and Ian!
Today, we’re reliving their sambalicious *wonders if that’s a real word* Samba which is one of our all-time favourite Strictly routines! It was full of flair, feathers and fancy footwork.
We absolutely loved it and are pretty sure you will too. Here it is just for you:
Tomorrow we’ll reveal the final dance from Zoe and Ian before opening up a poll to help us decide the best Zoe and Ian dance of all time!
Don’t forget to let us know what you thought of this dance. You can comment below or tweet @scd_support to tell us what you think!
So last week, we put perfect scoring Tangos and Jives against one another in a bid to see which Tango and which Jive were best.
In case you missed it, here’s a reminder of the contenders in picture form:
It was a closely fought competition full of kicks, flicks and contra checks. Your votes have now been checked, counted and verified and we can now reveal that the Tango going through to the final is Kimberley and Pasha’s perfect scoring Tango and the Jive going through to the final is (the first perfect-scoring dance ever!) Jill and Darren’s. Congratulations to both couples! We’ll see you in the final.
The competition is now picking up, and it’s time for us to spice things up with the battle of salsas and sambas and quicksteps! All you need to do is watch the dances below in this video then vote for your favourite salsa or samba and quickstep in the polls just underneath.
Now here are the interesting bit… the terms and conditions *replicates the clauditorium in her living room* Please ask Bill Payer’s permission (whoever he is) before you vote. Voting will remain open until 6pm next Sunday (5th February!) You can vote once a day in each poll for your favourites. The winning couple from each category will go through to the final (in week 10) where they will battle with the other winning dances to be crowned the best dance on Strictly ever!
Keep dancing and voting (we don’t mind you dancing while you vote, but please be careful as this can be quite a risky business!)
Over the last 3 weeks, one of you, our fab-u-lous followers has won our quizzes! The lovely @sparkleyalex has shown us that she well and truly is an expert on all things Strictly.
As a prize, we agreed to let her choose today’s Samba Saturday. She chose 3 superb Sambas. Her first Samba Saturday fix came from Ali Bastian and Brian Fortuna.
Watching this Samba back it was easy to see why she chose it. It was to quote Alex “unique and gentle.” It had an understated spirit of carnival which really made us smile.
Her second Samba Saturday fix came from Mark and Iveta with their Roarsome Samba. To quote Alex “it was full of character and had great music!” We loved the cheeky character and it really made us smile.
Her final Samba is Scott and Joanne’s Crab-u-lous Samba. This routine will go down in Strictly History as one of our favourites.
Here are all 3 of Alex’s Sambas. We hope you enjoy watching them:
We’d love to hear what you thought of those three dances. Tweet us @scd_support or comment below to let us know your views.
Thank you to Alex for choosing our Samba Saturdays this week. We’ll be here from 7pm tonight for our weekly Strictly Support Group! We hope you can join us then.
*Beep beep* Our car is meant to look sparkly and shiny, just like the glitterball, but it’s been a little bit neglected over the last few weeks (Sorry Tigger the Tiguan!) To help inspire us today, we decided to show you this dance earlier, and it really worked. We’re pretty sure that the sight of some gorgeous male dancers wearing dungarees helped, but think the whole feel-good spirit of the dance made us take our car to the car wash straight away.
Today we’re watching the wonderful Team RIro (Lisa Riley and Robin Windsor) with their high-energy, bouncy, bubbly, colourful, split-filled, fab-u-lous Samba. It was a dance that made us smile and want to get up and dance, as well as go along to the car wash.
We clicked our heels together, but sadly it wasn’t to be. We didn’t get a recreation of this samba. (#sadface.) A girl can only dream. Next time we go to the Car Wash we’ll close our eyes and hope this happens. Here are Lisa and Robin with their wonderful Samba. We hope you enjoy it:
We love baking, and love the Great British Bake-Off as much as we love Strictly, so for today’s Samba Saturday, we decided to fold mix the two together to make what can only be described as *creates suspense and cues dramatic music* The Great Strictly Support Group Samba Off!
We treated you to two Sambas earlier this morning. Both were performed by Team Markarena (mark 1 and 2.) In case you missed them, here they are:
If, like us, your reaction on hearing who killed Lucy Beale, looked something like this:
we’re pretty sure you’ll find today’s Samba Saturday light relief. In fact, we’re pretty sure, this dance is how the Eastenders cast will be chilling out after this week’s revelations. Yes! We’re pretty sure they do the Macarena in their spare time.
We’re watching Jake and Janette’s superb, zany, wonderful Samba. We loved this dance, especially the costumes, outfits, snake hips, twerking and music. We even managed to teach a 4 yr old at home how to macarena in time to the music.
It was one of those moments of Strictly pure joy which made us smile. We hope you enjoy it too. Here are Jake and Janette (aka Team Snakey Jan Jakey) performing their fab-u-lous Samba. We dare you to dance along at home. Go on, you know you want to!
*Stops dancing the Macarena!* We’d love to hear what you thought of that dance. Tweet @scd_support or comment in the box below. We look forward to hearing from you.
*Provides audience with earplugs before bursting into a rendition of Love is in the air* Now I’ve got your attention, and you’ve avoided hearing my singing, it’s time to wish you all a very Happy Valentine’s Day!
Whether you’re spending the day alone, with friends or family or with your beloved, we think this dance will most definitely put you in the mood for a party and will make you feel all loved-up inside *stares and starts seeing heart shapes all over her screen.* We’re pretty sure you’ll end up looking like this 😍.
We’re watching Ashley and Ola’s Lovely samba from last year’s Love week. We loved the concept, choreography and costumes. The music put us in the mood for a party and for week 3, the performance level from Ashley was top-notch. We scored it an 8/10 in our house and hope you’ll love it too! Here are Ashley and Ola with their fab-u-lous Samba:

*shimmies* Watching today’s Samba Saturday, we feel like we’re having a party and we haven’t even blown up any balloons. Today we’re watching a dance which was full of the carnival atmosphere and had so much energy we just wanted to join in at home. We’re watching Team Markarena (Mark Wright and Karen Hauer) show us that the only way to Samba.
We loved this dance for several reasons:
1) It was a turning point for Mark where he came out and gave it everything, showing he was a contender. Coming back after being in the Dance-Off the week before and performing like this takes guts and determination!
2) Karen’s costume was so bright, colourful and full of fringing, we felt we were watching the Rio Carnival.
3) The choreography – It had enough traditional Samba for Len, but also some great crowd-pleasing disco bits, and also who could resist Mark’s hips, he gave Snakey Jakey a run for his money! 😍
4) Craig’s lack of expression when Mark was girating on the Judge’s desk, we think he wasn’t watching the same dance as us, or Darcey!
We loved this dance and hope you will too. Here are Mark and Karen showing us the (w)right way to do a Samba:
We’d love to hear what you thought of that dance. Was that the way (ahaha) you liked it (ahahaha?) Let us know what you thought by commenting below. We look forward to hearing from you. We’re off to shimmy around town and do some (boring i.e. food) shopping. We’ll be here from 7.30pm tonight for our #strictlysupportgroup chat. We hope you can join us then!
