Strictly Couple Weeks – Mark and Karen – Day 3

It’s Day 3 of our Mark and Karen themed week, and today we’re Waltzing on a Wednesday with one of all-time favourite Viennese Waltzes.

When Mark and Karen performed this dance in series 4, we felt it was truly enchanting. Karen’s dress gave us serious dress envy and the choreography and feel of the dance were truly magical.

It became one of our go-to Strictly moments when we’re needing a pick-me-up, and we’re pretty sure that today this dance will cure your hump day blues.

In case you missed it earlier, here are Mark and Karen with their fab-u-lous Viennese Waltz.

Once you’ve watched this dance, we’d love to hear what you thought of it. You can tweet us @scd_support or comment below to let us know what you thought.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Strictly Support Group – The Strictly Fan’s Contract!Β

With the news of the Strictly Professionals performing on Strictly 2017, Strictly Fever has hit the nation. We are now officially on Countdown until Strictly is back on our screens (For the record there are just 66 sleeps until Strictly is back!)

For us, that means it’s time for us to plan our schedules. Anyone planning any weekend events has to be warned that if they fall on a Saturday or a Sunday night, we will not be partaking in said events and will instead pledge allegiance to the Glitterball.

Anyone who plans on calling us will have to be prepared to reach our voicemails on Saturday and Sunday nights, and we will refuse to answer the door whilst Strictly is on (hashtag priorities!)

Last week, one of our lovely twitter followers (Hannah) shared this picture with us of her Strictly Contract:

We also do plan to wear as much glitter as is humanly possible and take as many chances to dance as possible. What are your Strictly Resolutions for this series? Tell us by tweeting @scd_support or commenting below.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Strictly Couple Weeks – Mark and Karen – Day 2

So yesterday, we shared Mark and Karen’s wonderful Cha Cha Cha which got the week started off with a bang!

It’s Tuesday, which can mean only one thing here at Strictly Support Group HQ. It’s time for us to share a tango from this brilliant pairing. One Tango they performed stands out, and that’s their Argentine Tango.

Yes, even today, 11 years after it was performed, it still gives us goosebumps. It was one of those perfect Strictly moments and a perfect Argentine Tango which just oozed passion, agression and everything you’d expect it to!

In case you missed it earlier, here are Mark and Karen with their brilliant Argentine Tango:

Strictly Couple Weeks – Mark (Ramps) and Karen – Day 1

So, last night, we revealed the next couple to be in the spotlight as part of our Strictly Couple Weeks series! Yes, we’ve chosen Series 4 champions, Mark Ramprakash and Karen Hardy.

During their time on the show, Mark left many ladies mesmerised by his hips (Arlene included.) He also transformed from shy cricketer into accomplished ballroom and latin dancer.

For the first day of our Mark and Karen week, we’re reliving their Cha Cha Cha which surprised and amazed us. For a week 1 dance, Mark came out and gave his all. He also technically mastered many of the steps and we fell in love with this partnership!

In case you missed it earlier, here is this dance again:

Yes, we’ve reached the end of our week dedicated to Team Pocket Rocket *hands out tissues for people feeling a tad emosh*

It’s been a week filled with wonderful dances, from their brilliant Quickstep to their Charming Charleston, Their Roarsome Salsa to their Elegant Viennese Waltz, Their dramatic Argentine Tango to their Gymnastic Cha Cha Cha.

Overall, it has been a wonderful week, and earlier today we shared the final dance of the week from this pairing – their Magical American Smooth.

It was an unusual song choice but it worked! Together they created magic on the dancefloor and they were true dance wizards!

Strictly Support Group – A Strictly Pros Inspired Chat!

Earlier this week, we heard the Strictly Pro line up for this year. Whilst it got us excited that Strictly is coming, we also were a little sad as we sad farewell to three of the professionals, Natalie, Joanne and Oksana who will not be back this year. We have three new replacements and are pretty sure they will be fab-u-lous too!

In honour of the news, tonight we hosted a Strictly Professionals themed chat! We began our chat by asking you:

What do you think of the new professional line-up? Here were some of your wonderful answers:

We then moved our discussion on to talk about the pros who are leaving Planet Strictly for new pursuits. We first focused on the lovely Joanne from Grimsby and asked you this:

What do you think Joanne has brought to the world of Strictly and what will you remember her best for? We had some great answers. Here are our favourites:

We couldn’t agree with you more. For us, Joanne’s energy, positivity as well as her brilliant choreography and dancing will be remembered for many years to come. That and that Crabby Samba with Scott Mills!

For our next question, we focused on the lovely Natalie Lowe, who is leaving the show after 9 years! We asked you to tell us What has Natalie brought to the Strictly dancefloor in your opinion?  Here are some of your wonderful answers:

We then moved the chat on to talk about the lovely Oksana Platero who is also leaving the show. Although she was only on Strictly for 1 series, she provided us with many memorable moments and brought the best out of Judge Rinder. For us this is one of their best dances:

We asked you to tell us your favourite Oksana and Judge Rinder moment. here are your suggestions in playlist form:

For our next question, we asked you to tell us what you’d like to see happen on #Strictly2017. For us, after 4 years of missing the glitterball, we’d like it to be 5th time lucky for Kevin from Grimsby. We’d also like to see Chloe and Neil get celebrity partners. Here are your answers:

For our final question, we headed over to Instagram for a little game devised by my 7 year old, Bella! If you haven’t yet played her game, here it is just for you:

I must point out, this is all for fun!

That ended tonight’s chat. Thank you all for taking part, we hope you enjoyed it. We’ll be back at 8pm tonight (Sunday) to reveal the next couple in the spotlight for our Strictly Couple Weeks series. We hope to see you then.

Strictly Couple Weeks – Claudia and AJ – Day 6

So earlier today we shared with you a truly roarsome and pawsome dance from Team Pocket Rocket. Yes, we reminded you of their wonderful Musicals Week Lion King inspired Salsa.

When we first watched this dance, it left us bursting with pride. Claudia shone all way through the performance, and admittedly they were the cutest pairing on the dancefloor in their lion costumes, but the Salsa was filled with content and lots of great and fearless tricks.

They truly deserved their very first 10 from Bruno, and in our eyes the other judges should have awarded them at 10 too. I remember my 6 year old watching the dance and saying “Craig had better give them a 10 because if they’re lions they could eat him and that wouldn’t be very nice!” Sadly, some things never change and Craig’s 10 paddle stayed gathering dust under the judges’ desk, but in our eyes it wll always be a perfect 10 and one of those moments when music, concept, costume, choreography and performance all come together to give a magical moment on the Strictly Dancefloor.

In case you missed it earlier, here are Claudia and Aj with their Salsa:

We’d love to hear what you thought of this dance. You can tweet @scd_support or comment below to let us know. We’ll be back later on from 8pm with a Strictly Pros themed chat! We hope to see you then!

Strictly Couple Weeks – Claudia and AJ – Day 5

It’s Day 5 of our Team Pocket Rocket themed Strictly Couple Week. We can hardly believe we’re heading towards the end of another week, but today, we’re watching a dance which really took our breath away and gave us goosebumps.

Earlier today we showed you their beautiful Viennese Waltz which got us and the judges in a spin. Viennese Waltzes could be boring with a lack of steps, but all the Strictly Pros always know how to make us fall in love with a dance with some brilliant choreography.

This was one such example, it was elegant, romantic and just so adorable we may have just melted into a mush on the floor in our living room! In our eyes it also deserved at least one ten *take note judges*

In case you missed it earlier, here are Claudia and AJ with their beautiful Viennese Waltz. We hope you enjoy it:

Thursday Thoughts – The Strictly Pro Line-Up 2017!

So for many weeks we have waited eagerly for the Strictly Pro announcement for 2017. Yesterday, when we least expected it, Strictly surprised us with the professional line-up 2017!

We already heard that Natalie would no longer be on Strictly, however there were some surprises as we heard that Joanne Clifton and Oksana Platero would not be returning to the floor. Jo will be pursuing a new adventure in the world of musical theatre (having watched her in Thoroughly Modern Millie, we’re pretty sure she’ll be spectacular wherever she goes.) Natalie will be going on a new tour called Rip It Up (which we are very excited about seeing.) and Oksana has chosen not to return to the Strictly dancefloor. My 7 year old is convinced she’s going to turn into a butterfly (following her Paso Doble with Judge Rinder Last Year!)

We heard there’ll be 3 new girlies joining the Strictly Professionals. The first is Dianne Buswell (currently touring on Giovanni’s Dance is Life Tour and a former Burn the Floor Alumni, as well as a former Dancing with the stars Australia professional.) Nadiya Bychkova who is a 2-time world and european Ballroom and 10-dance champion and Amy Dowden who is current British champion and one of the highest ranking UK dancers.

We were happy to read that all the other Strictly pros will be returning to the show and in our eyes Strictly 2017 is going to be truly epic. Although we are sad to see three of our favourite professionals bid farewell to the show, change is good and Strictly continues to evolve and amaze us each series with dances that get bigger, better and even more fab-u-lous than ever before.

Some things will stay the same. We are really thrilled to see that the two legends of Strictly – Anton and Brendan are returning to the show. We do however  have a couple of  big questions this year. The first is Will Kevin win the Glitterball? He is the only pro Ever to have reached 4 finals, but have been pipped to the post for the Glitterball *gives Kevin a consolatory hug.* Surely, if any pro deserves a glitterball for their hard work, it has to go to this man for his hard work and dedication to the Strictly cause.

The second is will all the professional dancers have a partner this year? We really hope so, but have a feeling there may be a couple of pros who are partnerless. After watching Chloe partner Gethin in the Christmas Special, we’d love to see her get a partner, and we really want to see Neil partner a celebrity this year too!

What do you think? Tell us by tweeting @scd_support or commenting below, to let us know. We’d also like to hear what you think of this year’s pro line-up.  We’ll also be hosting a special Strictly Pros themed and 2017 themed Strictly Support Group Chat, this Saturday from 8pm. We hope to see you then.

In case you missed the news yesterday, here are the pros for this year’s series of Strictly

Strictly Couple Weeks – Claudia and AJ – Day 4

It’s Thursday and that means time to take a throwback back to  Claudia and AJ’s very first dance, their Cha Cha Cha.

As soon as we heard that Claudia would be on Strictly, it got us excited. As a gymnast we expected her to perform many tricks. Ok, so they may not have been Len’s cup of tea, but they definitely added to their performance.

But, when we first watched this dance, it wasn’t just the tricks that impressed us, it was Claudia’s technical dance ability as well as the risks they took. The (what’s become known in our house as) AJ Special at the end was a daring risk to take for any professional and celebrity partnership, not least in week 1, and it really paid off.

We loved their costumes and the fact their dance was set to one of my little girl’s favourite songs. It did mean she was singing all way through the performance but by the end she did tell me, that dance was “gymnastic fantastic mummy!”

Overall, we loved this dance and if you missed it earlier, here it is again just for you:

We’d love to hear what you thought of this dance. Tweet us @scd_support or comment below to let us know. We look forward to hearing from you.
