Strictly Overheards – What do Star Wars and the Strictly Glitterball Have in Common?

Sometimes Kids say the funniest things but also 7 year old logic is officially awesome. Earlier this afternoon, I picked up my wonderful little Strictly fan from school and took her in search of a Father’s Day present for daddy!

Whilst we were out shopping, I caught her staring at a Star Wars Death Star. (My Husband is a huge Star Wars fan – so anything Star Wars related would go down well.)

She grabbed my attention before telling me:

Mummy, the Death Star looks like a Strictly Glitterball but without the sparkly bits on the outside.

Kevin from Grimsby likes Star Wars and did a Star Wars themed Charleston on Strictly, so he made the Death Star sparkly again and made Star Wars all Strictlified. He should really win the Strictly Glitterball this year!

I officially love her logic and thought process!  There you have it, that’s what the Glitterball and a Death Star have in common.

Do you agree with Bella? Vote in the poll below to let us know.

Strictly Overheard – We’re all going on a Strictly Holiday! πŸŒŽβœˆοΈπŸ’ƒπŸ»β˜€οΈπŸβ˜€οΈπŸ’ƒπŸ»βœˆοΈπŸŒŽ

It’s that time of the year, when we choose our yearly summer holiday. Whilst debating our choices earlier, my little Strictly Superfan had an interesting suggestion. Here’s what happened?

πŸ‘©πŸ» Mummy: So Bella what do you think of our holiday choices?

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» Bella: They’re ok mummy. I liked Croatia last year, because we got to see Giovanni land and Aljaz land and I bought Bruno.

πŸ‘©πŸ» Mummy: And what about France?

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» Bella: Will Strictly be on then and do they have glittery ice cream?

πŸ‘©πŸ» Mummy: *Googles Strictly in France and when it’s on* It may be and I’m sure we can find some glittery ice cream wherever we go.

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» Bella: *Looks suspicious.* Mummy, I’ve got a better idea, why don’t we go to Planet Strictly?

πŸ‘©πŸ» Mummy: Do you mean a Strictly Cruise?

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» Bella: No mummy, I mean actually going to the real Planet Strictly. We can go in a rocket, and will get to see all the pros because they’ll be rehearsing then.

πŸ‘©πŸ» Mummy: That sounds like a great idea sweetheart. When can we go?

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» Bella: I’m saving up my pocket money, but when I get a glittery coin we can go. Or if you can pay for it, we can go tomorrow. I’ll clear my diary!

After all this, it got us thinking, what would Planet Strictly be like?

We can just imagine a world full of glitz, sparkle, where everyone danced in the street rather than walked. Everyone would be super smiley (no grumpy commuters.) Cars would run on glittery roads and would have massive Glitterballs on top!

The beach would be lined with glittery sands!

What would Planet Strictly be like for you? Tell us what it’d be like in your opinion and we’ll give yo us shoutout!

100 Sparkly Days of Strictly – Day 14

Today sees the Start of Strictly Pro rehearsals which means that Strictly is officially coming!

We love Strictly and love overhearing people’s conversations about our favourite show! Today for 100 sparkly days of strictly, we’re asking you to share your favourite Strictly Overheards. It could be a conversation you’ve heard in your family or something you’ve heard in public.

Earlier on this year, we shared this post, which I overheard during a play date between my Strictly Superfan, Bella & her friend Max.

We also heard this a few months back on the train. It sums up our life! Friends if you’re planning  any event, please make sure it’s on a Friday rather than a Saturday/Sunday

We want to hear your Strictly Overheards! Tweet @scd_support or comment below to tell us. Our favourites will win a sparkly prize!

Strictly Overheards – A Cute Dance/Strictly Overheard

For those of you who follow my blog, you’ll probably know by now that my little girl Bella is a huge strictly fan! I think glitter must run through her bloodstream as she loves Strictly so much and is the reason I started this support group.

This afternoon, she had a play date with one of her friends from school. Whilst they were playing unicorns versus pirates (just so you know the unicorns beat the Pirates with their horns because horns are better than swords) she and her friend Max were discussing their World Book Day and Sports Relief Day costumes. Yes! In March, my daughter’s school get to dress up in fancy dress costumes 3 times. Here is what happened:

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» Bella: Max, what are you going to dress up as at school on World Book Day and on Sports Relief Day?

πŸ‘¦πŸΌ Max: I don’t know yet. I think I’ll be the gruffalo and then a footballer. How about you Bella?

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» Bella: Well, I’ll be Bethany the Ballet Fairy on World Book Day and then I’ll be a Dancer on Sports Relief Day.

πŸ‘¦πŸΌ Max: That’s boring. Dance isn’t a sport because you get mud all over you!

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» Bella: 😑 No Dance is a sport because you always want try to do better than you did during the last dance and you keep practising. When you go to football on Saturday, I normally go to dance. I can’t right now because my arm is all pink and broken!

πŸ‘¦πŸΌ Max: I suppose you’re right, but you never win anything dancing, do you? I’ve got 4 trophies already at Football!

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» Bella: No, I’ve got 3 trophies and a tiara and a certificate and I’ve been dancing since I was 3. When you’re good you can do exams and get certificates. I did an exam last year and this is what I got! *shows Max her certificate*

When you’re really good at dancing you get to go to competitions where you can win trophies πŸ† and if you’re really really good, you can go on Strictly Come Dancing and get the best trophy ever. It’s called the glitterball. It looks like a football which is covered in mirrors. You’re not allowded to kick it though because it’s not a football and Craig Revel Horwood (who’s a grumpy judge) would get angry with you! When I’m a grown-up I want to win the Strictly Come Dancing Glitterball. It’s so sparkly!

πŸ‘¦πŸΌ Max: *Looking at a strictly come dancing glitterball* It looks pretty cool. But dancing’s really for girls!

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» Bella: No it’s not! Some of the best dancers ever are boys. I have another boyfriend (other than you) who I dance ballroom dancing with. You’re still my favourite boyfriend because you let my unicorn beat your pirate! Also, Kevin from Grimsby who’s one of my favourite dancers ever and Giovanni from Strictly are boys and they are awesome! πŸ€“ Ask my mummy, she’ll let you watch them dancing!

10 minutes later after watching these two strictly moments:

πŸ‘¦πŸΌ Max: Wow, they are really cool. They’re better than *says some footballer’s name who I don’t know* When is this show on TV?

πŸ‘ΈπŸ» Bella: It’s not on right now, but will be back when we’re both six. You can come and watch it here with me and my mummy. We have parties whenever it’s on. I’ll tell your mummy so you can come here!

πŸ‘¦πŸΌ Max: Ok, it sounds cool!

So there you have it. This is how 5 year olds manage to convince others that Strictly is the best show on TV! We have another young Strictly fan after this afternoon’s play date. Thank you to my little Bella and  I hope you enjoyed reading it!

Strictly Overheards

Strictly is officially coming! *Squeals and jumps up and down!* With pro rehearsals due to start on Monday, Strictly fever is well and truly hitting the nation. In fact, we’ve even overheard some Strictly related conversations like this:

We have to agree, we understand this fellow commuter’s predicament completely! We think this person definitely has their priorities right! It’d seem you lovely people did too. Here are some of the fab-u-lous tweets we received this morning, when we shared this with you:

Oops! Sorry Phil!

We’d like to know any strictly overheards you’ve overheard! Comment below or tweet @scd_support with your suggestions below. We look forward to hearing from you. Don’t forget, Strictly is coming!
