Strictly Support Group – A Summer Time Chat!

It has been an absolutely glorious day with some beautiful weather and even if it doesn’t last more than 24 hours, we thought it a great idea tonight to host a Summer themed chat!

The sun was shining, birds were singing and we sat down earlier with a glass of something chilled and refreshing to bring you our chat.

We began by asking you this:

Which Strictly Moment reminds you most of summer? Here are your answers in playlist form:

If you can think of any other dances you’d like to see added to this list just let us know and we’ll add them just for you.

For our next question we asked you who’s had the sunniest disposition for you during their time on Strictly? We had some excellent suggestions. Here are our favourites:

For our next question we asked There’s nothing more refreshing on a hot summer’s day than a cool drink or an ice-cream. Which #Strictly moment was most refreshing for you? Here are your answers in a playlist form:

We love to be beside the seaside in Summer, so for our next question, we asked you to tell us the routine that first comes to mind when you hear the word Blackpool Strictly. We have made you a little collage with all your answers:

For our final question, we asked you to tell us this:

If you were jetting off on holiday to somewhere exotic, whose Strictly costume would you like to take with you to ensure you sparkled and shone like a glitterball? Here are your wonderful answers:

That ended tonight’s chat. Thank you all who took part. If you didn’t get a chance to, don’t worry! You can still join in by tweeting @scd_support or commenting below. We look forward to hearing from you.

We’re back tomorrow night from 8pm (Sunday) to reveal the winning dance from Katie and Anton week and to unveil the next couple in the spotlight. Hope to see you then!

The Strictly Support Group General Election – Polls are Now Open!

It’s Election Day here in the UK and that fills us with joy for 2 reasons:

1) It gives us a chance to vote (as Strictly fans you know we love to vote, especially when we have Bill Payer’s permission – Hi there Bill)

2) It gives us a chance to launch our Strictly Support Group General Election.

Yes, last General Election we hosted a General Election giving you the chance to vote for some of your favourite dances and declare which couple and dance you would see as Prime Minister/Leader of the Opposition. This year it’s no exception and it’s back by popular demand. We even have two wonderful polls for you to vote in.

The first is to declare the couple you would like to see win our Election. You can pick from any three in the poll options listed below:

The second is to declare the dance you think would be most likely to win a General Election. All you need to do is watch the dances below and then choose your top three and vote in the poll just beneath the playlist:

Voting will remain open until 10pm tonight. We’ll reveal the winning results tomorrow morning.

Get voting folks (but don’t forget to ask Bill Payer’s permission first, we all know how angry he can get!)

Strictly Support Group – Sparkly Suggestions for Shirley

Last week, we had our first bit of Strictly news, as the wonderful people at the BBC unveiled the lady who will be head judge this year, Shirley Ballas.

We cannot wait to see her on the show and with her latin dance expertise she’ll definitely know her stuff. We’re sure she’ll also give the couples some brilliant constructive criticism.

We know she’ll be amazing but we asked you to share some of your sparkly suggestions for Shirley ahead of her new role. Here are some of your wonderful answers:

We do agree that she should carry a spare 10 paddle at all times. If she doesn’t use it, we’re pretty sure it’ll come in handy for (gently) hitting Craig on the head when he scores couples lower than they deserve.

For us we think that she should carry a harness with her at all times, to keep Bruno in his seat! We do worry about him when he falls off his chair. When we mentioned this, we had one wonderful suggestion from another of our fab-u-lous followers:

Of course, if she does wear a crash helmet it’ll have to be covered in glitter and sequins, we are on Planet Strictly after all!

My 7 year old’s advice to her is be yourself or a unicorn! Do they even have those on Planet Strictly? *looks confused*

What are your Sparkly Suggestions For Shirley? Comment below to let us know or tweet @scd_support. We look forward to hearing from you!

Strictly Support Group – A #DoctorWho and Space Themed Chat 🌍🚀🛰

We’re not sure if the same applies in your house, but in our house, one young Strictly fan has found a programme to help fill the Strictly void. Yes, Bella has started watching Doctor Who. Although she may find some of the monsters scary, she kindly asked mummy to host a Doctor Who and Space Themed chat, which took place earlier tonight!

We began with the Doctor Who section of our chat. For our first question tonight we asked:

If you could travel back in time to any Strictly series, which series would you choose to relive and why?

We love every series and would have to pick every series! Here are some of your wonderful suggestions:

For our second question, we asked this: The Doctor travels across time and space in his TARDIS. Who for you on Strictly “travelled furthest” during their journey on the show?

We had some wonderful suggestions. Here are our favourites:

https://twitter.com/f00dieface/status/860928180370255872

For our next question, we asked you to tell us Which Doctor Who character/actor would you like to see on the Strictly dance floor? We had two very popular choices from you! We’d love to see both these people on Strictly! Would you?

We then moved our chat on to be space-themed! For our next question, we asked you to tell us the Strictly moment which was out of this world for you! Here are your suggestions in playlist form:

http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLbpw-gqR2K3Y2-pnG0NSHztybPVAiI_rb

For our next question, we shared one of our favourite quotes and asked you to tell us who on Strictly summed this up for you perfectly. Here is said quote and your suggestions:

For our final question, we asked you to tell us If you went to Planet Strictly, what would you bring back as a souvenir? We had some great answers. Here are our favourites:

https://twitter.com/rubyeyelashes/status/860944939378724864

And that ended tonight’s chat! Thank you all who took part! If you didn’t get a chance to take part, don’t fear! You can still join in by tweeting @scd_support or commenting below. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

We’re back tomorrow night from 8pm to reveal the next couple who’ll be in the spotlight as part of our Strictly Couple Weeks.

Strictly Support Group International Day Of Happiness 😄

It is International Day Of Happiness and here at the Strictly Support Group you know that we love nothing more than a poll!

Earlier today we asked you to tell us who had been the happiest person on Strictly and which dance you considered the Happiest dance of them all. We had some great suggestions and have put them all into two polls for you to help us decide these two polls. All you need to do is vote in the polls below to help us decide:

Could these two be crowned the happiest couple on Strictly?

Voting will remain open until 6pm tomorrow, when we’ll close the vote before revealing our winners at 8pm.

Keep Voting and Keep Dancing!

Strictly Support Group – Who is the First Lady of Strictly?

It was International Women’s Day yesterday, and whilst I was munching on my lunch (a sandwich with added glitter) I had a thought. There have been many inspiring, strong and simply amazing women who have graced the Strictly dancefloor. Our Strictly pro girls, regularly amaze us not just with their ability, but also with their strength which is something many young dancers (including my little girl) admire.

Yesterday’s dance quote of the day was this:

It got us thinking, who has been the most inspiring and strong lady – the “First Lady” of Strictly – for you. When we asked you earlier we had some wonderful suggestions. Here they are as a beautiful collage:

In true Strictly Support Group style, we know the only way to decide once and for all is to do a poll. Simply vote in this poll below, before 8pm today. We’ll then reveal the results just before our quiz tonight.

Get voting people:

Strictly Support Group – A Book Themed Chat! 📚

Once upon a time in a land (not so) far away (well very close actually) the Strictly Support Group hosted a World Book Day themed chat.

Yes, to celebrate World Book Day earlier this week, we hosted a Book themed chat! For “chapter one” of our chat, we began by asking you to tell us If you were writing a book relating to Strictly, what would it be about and what would happen? We had some wonderful suggestions from you all. Here are some of our favourites:

We loved these suggestions and would love to see some of them go into publication! For our next question, we asked you to tell us the Strictly dance which is most like a Mills and Boon Romance book. Once again we had some great ideas. Here they are in playlist form:

For our next question, we asked you to tell us the Strictly Routine which was most like a Thriller/Mystery for you. Here are some of your great ideas in playlist form once again:

For our next chapter, we asked you to tell us the Strictly Routine which was most dramatic for you, just like a dramatic play. We had some brilliant ideas. Here are some of our favourites:

For our penultimate question, we asked you to tell us the Strictly Routine which was most like a fairytale for you. Here are some of your wonderful ideas which helped us live happily ever after:

For our final question, we asked you to tell us your all-time favourite Strictly themed reads. For us it has to be Ballet Shoes. We had some great suggestions *pops out to the library to take them out* Here are some of your other great ideas:

That ended tonight’s chat. Thank you all for taking part, we hope you enjoyed it. If you can think of any other topics you’d like to see us chat about on our Strictly Support Group, just tweet @scd_support to let us know or comment below. Also if you didn’t get a chance to participate tonight, don’t fear, you still can by commenting below. We look forward to hearing from you.

We’d also like to hear what type of book you think Strictly is most like. Tell us by commenting below!

Strictly Support Group – It’s a 10 from Len – A Tribute Chat to Mr Sev-ern himself!

c4-cc8lweayhu-v-jpg-large

We’ll pickle our walnuts (and other vegetables and fruits that can be pickled.) Last Sunday saw Len Goodman appearing as head judge for the final time at the Strictly Tour at the O2.

Over the past 13 years, Len has provided us with some magic moments, many a ten from Len, superb sev-erns and many more pearls of wisdom. He will be truly missed, so tonight, in his honour we hosted a Len themed chat!

We began our chat by asking you this:

1) What is your favourite Len moment of all time?

We loved these suggestions so much, that for our next question, we asked you to tell us your favourite Len quote of all time! Here are some of your brilliant suggestions:

We all love a good Ten from Len. For our next question, we asked you to tell us the Strictly moments, which you would have awarded a ten from Len. Here are your suggestions in playlist form!

For our fourth question, we asked you to tell us severn words you would use to describe Len Goodman. We had some superb suggestions. Here are some of your brilliant suggestions:

For our fifth question, we asked you to tell us the Strictly moments which left you in sev-ernth heaven! Here are your ideas in playlist form:

For our penultimate question, we asked you to tell us the moments on Strictly when you wanted to pickle your walnuts! Here were some of your shocking suggestions *heads off to pickle her walnuts in shock*:

For our final question, we know Len will be irreplaceable, but we asked you to tell us who you would like to see take Len’s place as Head Judge on the panel this year on Strictly. We had some wonderful suggestions, but these were the most popular suggestions of the night:

That ended tonight’s chat and tribute to Len. Thank you all for taking part. We think you were truly fab-u-lous and would definitely get a 10 from him! If you didn’t get a chance to take part, don’t fear! You can still take part by tweeting @scd_support or commenting below. We look forward to hearing from you.

We’ll be back tomorrow night from 8pm (Sunday) for our Ultimate Strictly Challenge. We hope to see you then.

Cassie 🙂
