30 Day Challenge – Bella’s A to Z of Strictly – Q is for Quickstep!

There’s one dance on Strictly I love just as much as the Jive and that’s the Quickstep. I like it because it’s really really fast and the people dancing it always look like they’re flying. It reminds me of playtime at school, because we always run after eachother. I think I’ll be good at the quickstep when I’m older because I like running, just ask Mummy who had to chase after me the other day when I was in the park.

I also like the quickstep, because it looks like a happy dance and it always makes me and my Mummy smile whenever we see it! Mummy says it’s the perfect dance for today, because lots of people feel sad and it’s hump day (which has nothing to do with camels apparently – I don’t believe her!) so it’ll make people smile just as much as a marshmallow and white chocolate cookie makes me smile! *grins like the cheshire cat thinking of cookies* 😀

Mummy’s shown me some great quicksteps which have appeared over the last 11 years on Strictly, but my favourite quickstep has to be Caroline and Pasha’s Quickstep from last year. I liked it because it looked like they were having lots of fun dancing it, and they even had a teddy bear and a horsey on the dancefloor at the same time too!

She’s helped me make a playlist of some of her (and my) favourite ever quicksteps. Watch this below and smile:

I’d like to know which quickstep is your all time favourite dance. Let me know by tweeting @scd_support or commenting below.

I look forward to hearing from you. Have a great day and keep smiling (as well as dancing!) *dances off back to school!*

30 Day Challenge – Bella’s A to Z of Strictly – Day 3!

It’s Wednesday and *counts on her fingers* day 3 of my A to Z of all things Strictly.  Today is brought to you by the letter C!

C is for cats Charleston!

I love cats, but there haven’t been very many on Strictly, yet! I couldn’t write about them, so chose to write about the Charleston instead.

Lots of dances on Strictly make me smile, but the Charleston makes me smile the most as it looks like a lot of fun. The costumes are sparklier than any other costumes on Strictly and the lifts look like lots of fun too! I tried one of the lifts with daddy but it didn’t look as good as it did on Strictly.

I have only watched Strictly for a couple of years, but I’ve liked lots of Charlestons. My favourites have been:

1) Caroline and Pasha’s Charleston – They had lots of lifts and looked like they were having a party!

2) Susanna and Kevin’s Spooky Charleston – Kevin made a great werewolf. He didn’t scare me (a lot) even though I was only 3!

3) Pixie and Trent’s Charleston – Had the sparkliest costume ever! I want a dress like that when I’m grown-up!

4) Anna and Robin’s Charleston – It was really fast and looked like lots of fun.

5) Nicky and Karen’s Charleston – I like it when there are stories on Strictly and this was like a fairy tale! Nicky was a knight in shining/glittery armour and rescued Karen from a scary train!

I showed you this Charleston earlier:

Which Charleston is your favourite Charleston ever performed on Strictly? Let me know by commenting below or tweeting @scd_support.

See you tomorrow.

Bella 🙂

🍌 Banana Day Wednesday Warm-Up – You’ll be bananas to not read this post. 🍌

*Slips over a banana skin* Yes, there really is such a day as banana day and today just happens to be that day.

Traditionally, on a Wednesday warm-up, we show you a dance to relieve your hump day blues. Today’s dance is no exception, and *pauses to create suspense* it features bananas. Hoorah! We’re all happy, well almost all of us, with the exception of this guy:

Hey! This isn’t a banana! Who’s been eating all my bananas? 🍌

Sorry Oscar (the Orangatun!) Hopefully, today’s Wednesday Warm-Up will make you smile. We’re watching the banana and fruit-filled Salsa from Hairy Biker Dave Myers and the lovely Karen Hauer.

This was my 5 yr old’s favourite routine of Strictly 2013 (partly because of Dave’s head roll!) Although, technically it wasn’t the best dance of the night, it made us smile and suffer from dress envy (we wanted Karen’s dress and Hat!)

Karen’s choreography was great and played to Dave’s strengths. We grew up watching Jim Carrey, so anything from one of his films always cheers us up whenever we have a bad day.

This whole dance is one of those memorable moments that sums up what strictly is all about. Strictly isn’t just about dancing, but about having fun along the way, and these two looked like they had it by the bucketload! Even the parrot on Dave’s trolley looked like he/she enjoyed him/herself!

We hope you enjoy watching this dance and we hope it relieves your midweek blues. Here are some bananas for you & Dave and Karen with their fabulously fun and banana-filled Salsa:

We’d love to hear what you thought of that (not the bananas, the dance!) Tweet us @scd_support or comment below. We look forward to hearing from you.

Wednesday Warm-Up – The Great Strictly Support Group Disney Dance Off!

It’s that time of the week again, time for our Wednesday Warm-Up. Whilst we spend the day with the Disney Princesses in their magical kingdom, today we hosted a Disney Dance-Off.

We showed you two wonderful quicksteps earlier, both of which had magical Disney themes. We showed you Pixie and Trent’s beauty of a quickstep and Scott and Natalie’s jungle-tastic dance. In case you missed them earlier, here they are again:

It got us thinking *pulls out mirror and gazes longingly into it* Mirror Mirror On The Wall, Which Disney Dance Is the Greatest of them all? So, in true Strictly Support Group style, we’re hosting a poll. Just choose watch the dances above and vote for your favourite in the poll below.

We’ll reveal the result tonight at 7.30pm. Have a magical afternoon everyone!

Wednesday Warm-Up – We’re Pretty Sure This Dance Counts As One Of Your Five-A-Day

We know all too well that as January comes to an end, keeping those New Year’s Resolutions is getting tougher and tougher. Here at the Strictly Support Group, we love helping you out, so today’s “fruity dance” will not only make you smile, but will also count as one of your five a day, well virtually anyway *inserts fruit emojis 🍎🍏🍊🍋🍒🍇🍉🍓🍑🍈🍌🍐🍍*

Today we’re watching James Jordan and Denise Van Outen’s wonderfully fruity Jive! It was fast, fun and fab-u-lous. We loved the 50s feel to this routine and had serious dress envy of Denise’s outfit. We loved the music and choreography and it’s the sort of tune to make you want to get up and dance. The whole performance was a moment of Strictly Magic and set Denise as a true contender in Strictly 2012.

We hope you enjoy watching this dance and would love to hear what you thought of it. Let us know once you’ve watched the dance. You can either tweet us @scd_support or comment below. We look forward to hearing from you:

Have a wonderful Wednesday and we hope this dance made you smile. Now, we feel all inspired to eat healthily again. *wanders off to eat some celery, carrot sticks and fruit.*

Wednesday Warm-Up – A Dance to Make You Smile!

Here at the Strictly Support Group, we know Wednesday is the day we all suffer a little case of the midweek blues. We’re here to help you cure your midweek blues with dances to make you smile.

Today we’re taking you to Norway to see Santa to watch this fab-u-lous dance from the Norwegian version of Strictly Come Dancing. Norway always help us smile at Christmas with their wonderful gift of a Christmas tree in Trafalgar Square, and this fun jive really made us smile this morning. The whole beauty and the geek storyline was great and the dancing was fun too. It turned our frowns upside down and we hope it’ll do the same for you. Here is one fabulous jive from Strictly Norway Style:

We hope you enjoyed watching that dance and would love to hear what you thought of it. Tweet us @scd_support or comment below. We look forward to hearing from you.

Wednesday Warm-Up – Grab Your Surfboards Dudes!

Grab your surfboards dudes (or if you don’t have one an ironing board will do!) Today we’re surfing all the way to the USA and which dance will we be watching to cheer us up? Well, we’ll be watching Frankie and Kevin’s wonderful Jive.

Wednesday Warm-Ups are there to cure your midweek hump day blues and this dance sure did that. Never before on strictly had anyone ever flown into the ballroom on a surfboard and danced jive on a surfboard. These two did it perfectly.

The costumes were great and traditional california cool, even if my 4 yr old did ask “poor Kevin, why does he always look silly?” (she wasn’t a fan of the shirt!) The music was fast and fun and the choreography matched this. Frankie kept up with the King of Jive and performed this dance and the choreography brilliantly!

We loved this routine and it really made us smile. We hope it turns your frowns upside down today. Have a great day!

Wednesday Warm-Up – Our Last Warm-up of 2014

*Gets tissues out* It’s going to get emosh, as today’s our last strictly fix of 2014! *composes herself* But don’t panic! We’ll be back tomorrow and every day next year with strictly fixes and chats at least twice a week to keep you going while Strictly is not on our screens.

We wanted to pick an extra special dance for today’s Wednesday Warm-Up, so today we’ve chosen the dance we’d love the Beefeaters outside Buckingham Palace to perform. Yes we’ve chosen Caroline and Pasha’s Jive which made them King and Queen of Strictly.

We loved the concept of this dance, as well as the costumes (we want Pasha to be a beefeater,) music and choreography. As ever Pasha’s choreography was inventive, original and fabulous. We could hardly tell Caroline apart from the professional dancers and the whole routine was one of those perfect Strictly moments. We’re pretty sure that this routine helped her become Strictly 2014 Champion as it was an out of this world performance for around the world week!

In case you missed it earlier, here are Caroline and Pasha with their wonderful jive! We hope you enjoy watching it:

We’d love to hear what you thought of that dance. Tweet us @scd_support or comment in the box below. We look forward to hearing from you. We hope you all have a happy, safe and warm New Year’s Eve! Thank you for all your support this year, we really appreciate it! Long may the Strictly Support Group continue!

Wednesday Warm-Up – It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

There are certain things that signal the start of Christmas for us:
1) The Marks and Spencer’s/John Lewis’s Adverts (we love Monty the Penguin!)
2) The Strictly Season starting and the run up to the final
3) The first playing of Fairytale of New York on the radio.

This last one fills us with joy and when last year our wonderful professional dancers performed a dance to it, we truly felt the Christmas magic! It left us feeling all warm and fuzzy and is the sort of dance that words cannot describe. In case you missed it earlier, here are our fabulous Strictly 2013 Christmas Special cast with their performance to Fairytale of New York:

We hope you enjoyed watching that dance. We’d love to hear what you thought of it. Tweet us @scd_support or comment below. On behalf of all of the Strictly Support Group, we wish you a fab-u-lous festive period!

We’ll be back tomorrow evening tweeting during the Strictly Christmas Special. We hope you can join us then.

Wednesday Warm-Up – The Most Beautiful Dance In The World!

Every day this week (up until Friday) we’re showing our favourite dances from our 4 final couples. Yesterday we watched the electrifying Argentine Tango from Frankie and Kevin. Today, we’re watching the most beautiful Rumba ever seen on Strictly from Mark and Karen.

This dance caused some controversy when it was performed on Saturday, with Len criticising Karen’s choreography. We couldn’t disagree with Len more.

Dance is an artform and all about being creative and artistic. We normally cringe watching Rumbas but, Mark and Karen proved that Rumba doesn’t have to be dirty or filthy and can be something beautiful with an emotional connection instead.

We really loved this routine and for us it is our favourite Rumba ever. We loved this dance and hope you will too. Here are Mark and Karen with their beautiful, Rumba. We hope you enjoy watching it:

We’d love to hear what you thought of that dance. Tweet @scd_support or comment in the box below. We look forward to hearing from you.
