Strictly 2017 – Dance Move, Photo, GIF, Outfit of the Week – Week 2

Last Saturday 15 couples took to the floor for what was a truly epic night.

Tuesdays in our house are a chance for us to relive some of our favourite Strictly moments from Saturday night. There were many fab-u-lous moments last Saturday, but here are our Dance Move, Photo, GIF and Outfit of the week highlights.

Dance Move of the Week:

One dance was so epic, we couldn’t just pick one dance move, but had to pick not 2, but 3! Yes, 3 dance moves. We chose these three lifts from Janette and Aston’s Festival themed Salsa. We loved it so much we couldn’t help but share them again. In case you missed it, here they are just for you:

Photo of the Week:

Sometimes a picture speaks a thousand words, and this is one of them: #Slay

GIF of the week:

There are couples on Strictly who fill us with joy, with every step they take on the floor. Susan and Kevin are one of these couples. Our GIF of the week captures not just the joy they spread with the audience at home, but also the judges in the audience. Click on this link below to see Shirley (and Bruno’s) reaction to their charming Charleston:

Outfit of the week:

There were so many spectacular outfits on Saturday night. Some of them dazzled us, but one of them gave us serious dress envy for it’s “wearability.” It was this fab-u-lous outfit that Mollie and AJ wore:

Strictly 2017 – Bella’s Best Bits – Week 2 🦄💃🏻🦄

She’s cute, sassy and loves unicorns almost as much as she loves Strictly! Every Monday of this series, one of Strictly’s youngest Superfans,  Bella will be sharing her favourite moments from Saturday’s Strictly show!

Here are her highlights of Strictly, Week 2:

1) Alexandra and Gorka’s Paso Doble

Alexandra was a mermaid dancing the paso doble. I loved her dress. It was beautiful and mer-mazing. It’s a shame that the costume people forgot Gorka’s buttons though. The dance was amazing and it’s one of my favourite ever Paso Dobles. It was almost as good as Kevin and Louise/Susanna’s Paso Dobles.

2) Janette and Aston’s Salsa

Janette looked like a unicorn and all the lifts and tricks were awesome. I think she’d done some of them before with Jake in 2014. Mummy forgot, but I remembered. It was a magical dance and they performed to my favourite ever song, Despacito. I danced at home, and mummy did too, but she wasn’t as good as Janette and Aston.

3) Simon and Karen’s Waltz

I really liked this dance. Simon tried really hard and he danced a dance that was really beautiful. It made my mummy cry in a good way and I thought even though they made a little mistake they kept going and did really well. I’ve always been told by dance teachers, if you make a mistake don’t worry, just keep going and that’s what he did. Karen looked like a princess in her dress too.

4) Susan and Kevin’s Charleston

Susan always makes me smile and I like that she’s having a lot of fun on Strictly. Kevin was a judge, and I think he should be a judge, because he knows all the rules on Strictly! The dance was a lot of fun and I started dancing along at home. I can’t wait to see her Samba next week to Wonder Woman, but I’m not sure what Kevin will do. Maybe he’ll be Wonder Pro?

5) Debbie and Giovanni’s Viennese Waltz

Debbie actually looked like Princess Elsa and she has magic dust which is helping her dance really well. She looked like a princess and Giovanni looked like a prince. The dance was beautiful and they spun and twirled around the floor really really fast. Debbie can stretch her legs really far, I think she can do the splits!

So there were Bella’s best bits. What did she think of the elimination?

It was too early for anyone to go home. I’m upset that Chizzy went home, because she could have done many more dances. She was a sassypants dancer and I’ll miss seeing her on Strictly… a lot! I think that next year, they need to make sure people get to stay until Week 3 to dance on Strictly!

Do you agree with Bella’s Best Bits of Strictly Week 2?

Strictly 2017 – Week 2 Performance Review 💃🏻🕺🏻

Tonight, all 15 couples took to the floor battling for our votes for the first time. Tomorrow night, one couple will be eliminated *begs Strictly to change the rules* and their very short journey on Strictly will come to the end.

It was a night full of surprises, nerves and shocks as well as slay-age!

Here’s what we thought of each performance on tonight’s show:

Chizzy and Pasha’s Foxtrot – As first to take to the floor this week, they did not disappoint. Chizzy performed what my 7 year old called “a sassypants dance.” It was a Foxtrot full of sass. Yes, foxtrot should be elegant but in our eyes, it worked and we loved the performance overall. In our eyes, she deserved a 7. The judges awarded her 16/40 for the dance, and have lead my 7 year old to ask for Strictly Cereal for breakfast tomorrow morning!

Aston and Janette’s Salsa – This was one dance we were extremely excited about, and it did not disappoint. A dance, performed to an albeit faster version of the song of Summer 2017, set in a festival where Janette resembled a unicorn and was so fearless giving Aston some daring and challenging lifts and choreography which he nailed. It was amazing and if that’s what he can do in week 2, we want to see his showdance in the final. We awarded him a 9. Bruno agreed, with the judges awarding him 32/40.

Susan and Kevin’s Charleston – As the third couple to perform, Susan did look visibly nervous before performing and Kevin appeared to have turned into a judge. The routine was set in a courtroom and my 7 year old was disappointed that Judge Rinder didn’t come and join in. We love Susan’s joy and love of learning to dance, and yes, she didn’t master the swivel and the judges were cruel, but we loved the whole performance. It filled us with joy! Even our cat wanted to award a higher score than some of the judges awarded. We gave her a 7. The judges awarded her 22/40 (including a 7 from Shirley!)

Charlotte and Brendan’s Cha Cha Cha. It was a moment where Cha Cha Cha, turned Cha Cha Cha-rgh! Mistakes do happen on the dancefloor and we wanted to reach into our TV screens and give Charlotte a hug. She looked stunning, but sadly there was a bit of a slip up and after that point, her nerves got the better of her. In our eyes, she deserved a 6. The judges awarded her 12/40.

Joe and Katya’s Tango. Joe entered the magical world of Narnia Planet Strictly, going through the wardrobe. It was a super speedy tango and Joe did really well. The music was a little too fast for a Tango but Joe coped with it and the overall feel of the dance (despite the judges comments) was just lovely! It was one of those moments which made us feel all warm and fuzzy inside, especially with the hug at the end. We loved it and gave it a 7. The judges awarded them 22/40.

Brian and Amy’s Cha Cha Cha. If there’s one thing that Brian does well, it’s entertaining us and creating a performance. This dance was charming, entertaining and full of disco. It even featured a moonwalk. For the fun factor, we awarded him a 10. The judges gave him 20/40

Gemma and Aljaz’s Waltz. Aljaz’s waltzes are always brilliant and we’ve decided he’s king of the waltz. Earlier we asked you to vote in this poll which will remain open until tomorrow evening at 7pm:

The dance was everything you could ask for in a waltz and did make our eyes leak… a lot! It was romantic, soft and gorgeous. We thought it deserved a 9. The judges awarded her 26/40.

Rev. Richard and Dianne’s American Smooth – The anticipation of waiting for Richard to take to the floor always makes us look forward to his performances. This performance may not have been extremely smooth, but for entertainment and joy they won us over. It was one of those moments which makes you feel all warm and fuzzy on the inside. We loved Richard’s bribery of the judges with cupcakes at the end. In our eyes, they deserved a 6. The judges gave him 17/40

Ruth and Anton’s Charleston – Can we all take a moment to appreciate how amazing Ruth looked tonight? She shone and sparkled in her outfit and nailed the swivel action despite her hamstring injury yesterday. It was a marked improvement from last week and she did look significantly less nervous. We awarded her a 7. The judges gave her 20/40

Simon and Karen’s Waltz – An emotional tribute to The 96 which did make us shed a tear (or two million!) It was beautiful, and Simon’s technique was good. There was a small mishap with a spin at the end, but they overcame it to perform a dance which gave us “the feels!” We loved it and thought they deserved an 8. If it was down to emotion alone, we’d have awarded them a 10. The judges gave them 19/40. We also wanted to give them a hug, just like Shirley did.

Mollie and AJ’s Tango. Mollie turned Talulah the Tango Temptress in this dance. She performed a fiery dance full of agression, passion and challenging choreography. We loved it and it was a marked improvement from the week before. In our eyes she deserved a 9. The judges awarded her 25/40 (including a 4 from Craig and an 8 from Shirley.)

Jonnie and Oti’s Jive. Team Glitterblade wowed us with a dance full of sharp kicks and flicks, complicated choreography. It was truly brilliant and wowed us. Jonnie is our Strictly Superhero and we do have a rather large girl crush on Oti! We loved the speed of this dance as well as the performance aspect. In our eyes, they deserved a 9. The judges awarded him 29/40.

Debbie and Giovanni’s Viennese Waltz – If this dance didn’t move you to tears, there is something wrong with you. Giovanni choreographed a routine to play to Debbie’s strengths but also to show his respect for this uh-may-zing lady. My 7 year old thinks Debbie’s magic strictly dust is helping her dance well. It earned the first u-may-zing from Craig (surely a record) and earned 34/40 from the judges overall.

Davood and Nadiya’s Quickstep – It was set in a library. *stomps feet* Why weren’t we ever allowed to dance in the library when I was at school? It was super fast and a dance of two halves. The first part was fast and furious. The second half featured a bizarre strip tease which we weren’t sure about. It wasn’t technically perfect but pretty good and left us and Bruno speechless. We felt it deserved a 7. The judges awarded Davood 27/40.

Alexandra and Gorka’s Paso Doble – She was the mermaid. He was the matador. It was a mermaid, bull-fight paso doble. It was fast, fierce and fab-u-lous. There’s one word to sum it up #slay! We thought it deserved 10s, but the judges weren’t that generous, awarding it 36/40.

That ended tonight’s show. Who impressed you most? Who gets your vote? Who do you think could be in danger? Vote in this poll below to help us decide.

We’re back tomorrow night tweeting along with the results show, when one person will go home!

Cassie 🙂

Strictly 2017 – Week 2 Predictions!

It’s that time of the week again and time for us to gaze into our Crystal Balls to predict what will happen this weekend! Last night, the wonderful folk at Strictly, revealed the 15 songs and dances our couples will be performing this weekend. As well as allowing us to add more fab-u-lous tunes to our Spotify playlist *inserts link here*

It also got us very very excited for this weekend. We know that someone will leave this weekend *sobs uncontrollably and stomps feet demanding the Strictly team to change the rules* but it’s not stopped the sparkly excitement and anticipation of seeing our favourite couples and the best cast ever take to the floor.

Here are our predictions of what will happen:

Alexandra and Gorka will Paso Doble to ‘Ven a Bailar by Jennifer Lopez

A very interesting choice of song for a Paso Doble. Alex is fierce and together with the Spanish Sensation that is Gorka 🤤 we predict this will be a fiery and fierce paso doble. We predict 8s and possibly even 9s from the judges.

Charlotte and Brendan perform the Cha Cha to Sugar by Maroon 5

Charlotte oozes elegance and we know the Cha Cha is a tough dance to perform. We have a feeling this dance will be super sweet. If she managed to perform a fab-u-lous foxtrot in week one, we predict the cha cha will not be challenging at all and will see her achieve a wonderful score. We predict 7s and 8s from the judges.

Chizzy and Pasha dance the Foxtrot to I’m A Woman from ‘Smokey Joe’s Café’

Ooh a Foxtrot! Ooh and a song that can show Chizzy’s fab personality. This looks set to be a wonderful performance and one which will definitely entertain us. We predict 7s from the judges.

Debbie and Giovanni will Viennese Waltz to She’s Always A Woman by Billy Joel

Our dark horses/ponies are performing a Viennese Waltz to one of our all-time favourite songs. It’s going to be emotional and epic at the same time! Debbie’s athleticism and flexibility will definitely help her with all the spins in the Viennese Waltz. After her Paso Doble which surprised us, we predict 8s and 9s from the judges.

Gemma and Aljaz Waltz to Un Giorno Per Noi (A Time For Us) by Josh Groban

Aljaz always manages to choreograph dances which suit his celebrities down to a tee, and the waltz is one of those. We’ll never forget his beautiful waltzes with Daisy Lowe and Abbey Clancy. We predict this will be a good dance for Gemma. She’ll be in hold and the dance will allow her to travel across the floor. We predict 7s and possibly even 8s for her.

Mollie and AJ dance a Tango to Addicted To Love by Tina Turner

*Wonders if Mollie or AJ will get Tina Turner hair for this dance* It’s a great choice for a Tango and we predict it will be a good dance. We predict 7s across the board from the judges.

Ruth and Anton perform a Charleston to The Charleston by Bob Wilson and his Varsity Rhythm Boys

From watching the rehearsal footage already we can see that Ruth has mastered that Swivel action. If she doesn’t let her nerves get the better of her on Saturday this could be her dance. We predict 7s and 8s from the judges.

Susan and Kevin also perform a Charleston to If You Knew Susie by Enoch Light and The Charleston City All-Stars

Kevin’s Charlestons are always legendary. Who could forget his Werewolf in 2013, his Fonz in 2014, his Luke Skywalker in 2015 and his Joker last year. His choreography in all the dances he creates is perfect for his celebrity, so we predict this will be another wonderful dance. Susan is loving every minute of dancing on Strictly and it shows with every step she takes. We predict 7s and possibly even 8s for this dance.

Aston and Janette will Salsa to Despacito by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee ft. Justin Bieber

*Cheers* The song of the summer is being used on Strictly, in a Salsa. *waatches her 7 year old dance to the song as she hears this song will be used.* Aston proved he was a contender on Saturday, Janette is fearless so we predict this dance will feature many daring tricks and lifts *hides behind a cushion in fear* We see lots of 8s and possibly even a 9 or two for this dance.

Brian and Amy will Cha Cha to Shake Your Groove Thing by Peaches and Herb

#WeLoveBrian. He may not be a natural dancer, but his enthusiasm for dance and cheeky friendship with Amy is adorable. This dance will certainly entertain us and if we were judges we’d give him a 10 for entertainment value. We predict the real judges may not be so generous and foresee many 6s and 7s

Davood and Nadiya perform the Quickstep to Last Nite by The Strokes

Strictly 2017’s hottest couple *grabs a fan to cool herself down* are performing a quickstep. Davood showed his dance ability on Saturday night and we can see this dance will be just as good. We predict 7s and 8s across the board for this dance.

Joe and Katya will Tango to Castle On The Hill by Ed Sheeran

*Watches her 7 year old sing along (tunelessly) to this song too – she calls it Newcastle on the Hill* We always thought this song would make an excellent Tango, so thank you Strictly for making our Tango dreams come true. Joe really wowed us with a polished Jive on Saturday and we think this dance will play to his acting skills and his dancing skills perfectly. We predict 8s and 9s across the board!

Jonnie and Oti perform the Jive to Johnny B. Goode by Chuck Berry

Go Go, Go Jonnie Go, Go, Go Jonnie Go *gets carried away in her own world.* We predict this dance will be full of kicks and flicks and will be interested to see how the blade deals with all that bouncing around. As an athlete, we have no doubt Jonnie will excel and with Oti’s choreography this looks set to be a brilliant dance. We predict 7s and 8s from the judges.

Rev. Richard and Dianne perform the American Smooth to Love Really Hurts Without You by Billy Ocean

When Dianne revealed on twitter they were doing an Australian Rough, my little girls wondered if kangaroos would feature in this dance. We predict this dance will definitely entertain us and will get our votes. We also predict 6s and 7s from the judges

Simon and Karen will Waltz to You’ll Never Walk Alone by Rodgers and Hammerstein

A beautiful song, a beautiful dance. We’re in heaven and foresee a trip to Anfield is in order. For us Simon is a dark horse, and with Karen he is in very safe hands. We predict this will score 7s and 8s from the judges.

So there you have it, our predictions. It’s too close to call who will be eliminated this week. Whose dance are you most looking forward to this weekend? Comment down below or tweet @scd_support to let us know. We look forward to hearing from you.

Strictly 2016 – Photo and GIF of the Week! (Week 2)

As you know, every week this series, we’ll be sharing a photo and a GIF from the live and results shows which made us smile or fall in love with a dance!

This week’s photo of the week is this brilliant moment from Ed and Katya’s Charleston:

We love Ed’s love of Strictly and all things dance. He has truly embraced the magic of sequins and having watched this performance 4 times already, it’s made us smile more and more each time we’ve watched it. His facial expressions were perfect, they were in sync together and some of those lifts were challenging and very impressive! This moment sums up the sheer perfection. Let’s not forget, he’s not an actor, but he pulled this performance off perfectly!

For our GIF of the week we’re turning to Danny and Oti’s wonderful Viennese Waltz:

Words cannot really describe this moment other than it was full of drama and made us fall in love with these two even more! Can we also take a moment to appreciate Oti’s beautiful dress which is showcased perfectly in this gorgeous move!

So that’s this week’s photo and GIF of the week. Do you have a moment from week 2 you’d like us to GIF or a picture moment which made you smile? Maybe you have a favourite GIF you’d like to share too. Just tweet @scd_support or comment below to let us know. We look forward to hearing from you.

Strictly 2016 – Bella’s Best Bits (Week 2) 👸🏻💃🏻🦄

If you were here last week, you will have heard that my little girl (aka the smallest Strictly Superfan) is telling us her best bits every week! As she’s 6, she’s decided she wanted to tell us her top 6 favourite routines of the week!

Here are her top six moments of Strictly 2016 week 2:

6. Claudia and AJ’s Waltz:

I thought she looked like Rapunzel in her tower at the start and I really liked her dress and her hair. I might ask mummy if I can borrow it because she’s only little like me. She did lots of twirls and spins and gymnastic bits and she even did the splits too! I liked the neckspin at the end of their dance too.

5. Judge Rinder and Oksana’s American Smooth

If I ever do an American Smooth I want to perform one like this. I liked Oksana’s dress and I really like these two together. Judge Rinder is very funny too. I like him answering Craig back too, because Craig is not very nice. The lifts and dancing was very elegant. I liked it a lot.

4. Ed and Katya’s Charleston

I really liked this dance. It was a lot of fun. If you have fun and try your hardest when you dance that’s all that matters. My teacher always tells me to try my hardest and that’s what he did too. I got my Ukelele out on Saturday too and tried to do the Charleston. Mummy said it was very good, but I don’t think I was as good as Ed and Katya. I voted for them lots!

3. Karen and Will’s Jive

This dance looked like a lot of fun too. Will and Karen are my favourites and I think the judges were wrong saying he was flat-footed. It’s very hard dancing jive and even harder dancing in converse (especially if they’re not sparkly!) Will danced through a lot of pain too as he pulled a muscle. He’s very brave! I think he should get a sparkly medal.

2. Tameka and Gorka’s Charleston

When I go to the seaside, I want to perform this dance. It looks like more fun than eating Ice Cream. I love the Charleston and I liked these two dancing it together, even though it went a little bit wrong in the middle, they kept going and looked like they were having so much fun!

1. Louise and Kevin’s Viennese Waltz.

I loved this dance! It looked like a prince and a princess dancing in a palace at a ballroom in a Disney film. It was beautiful and just completely amazing. Mummy said I was very quiet watching it and had to check I was ok, but that was because I was enjoying the dance so much! I love Louise and Kevin. They are awesome.

So those are my 6 year old’s top 6 routines of the weekend. Which dances were your favourite dances? You can tell us by tweeting @scd_support or commenting below. We look forward to hearing from you.

Strictly 2016 – Farewell to Team J Boom

We always knew the first elimination on Strictly 2016 would be hard, especially when we love all of this year’s cast.

After a brilliant week 2, tonight we said farewell to Team J Boom, aka Melvin and Janette. It was always going to be hard to say goodbye to someone (can’t they all stay?). Given the circumstances, we know health does what come first and we  hope that Anastacia is OK as that injury sounded painful.

Janette and Melvin have made us smile with their infectious smiles & fun routines over the past few weeks. We’re sure they’ll remain friends for life.

Not only did they dance, but they brought us the Team J Boom dab:

https://twitter.com/jmanrara/status/773892647165562880.

They helped us make our very first GIF:

And they brought us two awesome routines which had energy, lots of content and great dancing! Their strictly journey may have been short but sweet and we’d have loved to have seen them stay on in the show for a few more weeks, but we’ll always remember them for these two awesome dances.

We’d like this post to become a tribute to them. Comment below with your messages of support for them before Thursday. We’d also like you to help us make a little video. Send us your Team J Boom Dabs before Thursday & we’ll make a video to send to Janette and Melvin!

Strictly 2016 – Week 2 Performance Review

Pandas, Anton’s Trousers and Charlestons

Earlier tonight, the fab-u-lous fifteen couples took to the floor for the second time in what was a mammoth Strictly Show!

Tomorrow night we will have to say goodbye to one couple. We wish that everyone could stay, as we love them all and it seems far too soon to be saying goodbye to someone. Many couples upped their game. There were injuries and changes to choreography but all in all it was a fab-u-lous show!

The show opened with Ore and Jo who became firemen for a day and performed a very hot Cha Cha Cha. It was smoking and they opened the show up warming up a cold evening with a sizzling dance. Ore’s performance ability is brilliant and we feel this will get him far. The judges awarded them 27/40 (which my little girl pointed out was 3 9s (999.) In our opinion they deserved a 9!

Next up were Claudia and AJ who performed a romantic, elegant and fluid Waltz which truly lit up the ballroom. We loved Claudia’s dress, as did many of you, and loved AJ’s inventive choreography. The judges awarded them 27/40 and in our opinion, they deserved a 9 too!

Third up tonight were Will and Karen with a fifties inspired Rock and Roll Jive! We loved the feel of this dance and thought they captured the spirit and feel of the dance perfectly. Karen’s choreography was inventive and challenging for Will and he did very well. The judges had a bit of an argument over the performance but we disagreed. Will also pulled a muscle, and we wanted to #helpwill from home. The judges again awarded them 27/40. In our opinion he deserved a 9.

Lesley and Anton then took to the floor with a cheeky Cha Cha Cha! We must make a point that Anton’s trousers stole the show (once again!) We’d love a pair of trousers like those from Santa for Christmas *adds to her Christmas list* We admire Lesley’s energy and how she commits to a character in every dance. Technically it wasn’t perfect but in our opinion she deserved a 7! Our judges awarded her 26/40. We also thought Anton’s trousers deserved 40/40 themselves!

Greg and Natalie then took to the floor for their Tango, to a surprising song choice (Jump by Van Halen.) The choreography was good and the costumes left us green with envy. Greg’s stick-out bum did become a bone of contention with the judges. We really enjoyed the dance and loved Greg’s focus and agression in the dance. In our opinion, he deserved an 8, the judges awarded him 26/40.

We were then taken on a trip to the seaside with Tameka and Gorka and their fun Charleston. Tameka, as an actress, does really well in the character driven dances, and this was no exception! It was truly awesome, entertaining and epic! We love this partnership and can’t wait to see what other dances they have up their sleeves. They deserved a 9 in our opinion. The judges awarded them a well-deserved 30/40!

Laura and Giovanni then wowed us with a beautiful, elegant waltz which made our eyes ever so slightly leaky. It was gorgeous. We really do love Giovanni’s choreography and the dance he choreographed suited Laura’s strengths perfectly. In our opinion it was worthy of a 10. Our judges awarded them 32/40.

We took a trip from the seaside back to a hotel next, for Melvin and Janette’s Tango. Janette’s choreography is always inventive and Melvin perfomed with agression and passion. It wasn’t the best technically, but he gave his all and improved a lot from the first dance. In our opinion it was worthy of a 7! The judges awarded them 23/40.

Next up were Louise and Kevin with a beautiful Viennese Waltz. The Team Louvin (as they are known) Fist Bump has become a thing in our house now, so whenever they perform we give a fist bump. Once again, Kevin’s choreography was inventive, original and played to Louise’s strengths. It was beautiful, fluid and elegant and the whole dance got us in a whirl. My 6 year old was super quiet whilst watching this dance she enjoyed it so much. The judges awarded them 32/40. In our opinion, they deserved a 10!

Anastacia and Brendan then performed a sassy Salsa. We learnt that she had an accident in rehearsals and they had to change the choreography at the last minute. Anything like that would normally shatter a person’s confidence, but team Sassypants (as they’re known in our house) or Team Latinastacia performed brilliantly and deserved an 8 in our opinion. The judges awarded them a disappointing 22/40.

Next up was the most eagerly awaited dance of Strictly 2016, from Ed and Katya. Yes, Team Glitterballs performed a Charleston. Most of you agreed that it was worth the licence fee alone. It was pure entertainment and Ed did a spectacular job. He is what strictly is about; trying your hardest and embracing all that glitters. We loved it and felt it deserved a 9. The judges awarded him a respectable 23/40!

Naga and Pasha then channeled Tina Turner for a Cha Cha Cha full of attitude. Naga looked gorgeous and we loved her dress and hair! The dance itself was good and Naga performed it with great rhythm. We really enjoyed it, but once again felt that nerves got the better of her. We awarded her an 8. The judges awarded her 21/40.

Judge Rinder and Oksana then performed the most adorable American Smooth ever. My 6 year old has decided that should she ever perform an American Smooth, she wants to perform it to this song and wearing Oksana’s dress. We loved it. This guy can dance and can perform. We predict he will go very far. We gave him a 9.

Our penultimate couple of the evening were Daisy and Aljaz who performed a cheeky Cha Cha Cha which was as cute as cherry pie! It was precise and another brilliant performance from Daisy. We did love the choreography, the outfits and felt it deserved a 10. The judges had a dispute about a ‘lift’ and awarded her 30/40. We must also point, there was a panda in their training room. If you want to get our votes, put a panda in the room.

The final couple performed the dance of the night in our opinion. It was Danny and Oti with a Viennese Waltz which had a great story behind it. It had passion, agression and romance all in one. It was truly wonderful and this moment from it, has to be our GIF of the week:

In our opinion, he deserved a 10. Our judges awarded him a very well deserved 32/40!

At the end of week 2, we had Louise and Kevin and Danny and Oti in the top spot with Team Glitterballs at the bottom.

Who were your favourites this week? Comment below to let us know or tweet @scd_support.

We’re back tomorrow from 7.15pm for the Strictly results show. We hope to see you then.

Strictly 2016 – Our Predictions ahead of week 2!

It’s Tuesday which means one thing during Strictly season…. It’s Tunes on Tuesday time *cheers*

On tonight’s It Takes Two we learnt the dances, the class of Strictly 2016 will be performing this week and also the songs they will be dancing to!

As we will be doing every week this series, we have added them to our Strictly 2016 Spotify playlist. Here’s a link so you can follow and listen to the tunes week by week:

It may be hard for us to predict who will land top of the leaderboard this week, however here are our thoughts on the songs and dances for week 2!

Anastacia and Brendan will be performing a Salsa to Sax by Fleur East!

My 6 year old has nicknamed this couple “Mr and Mrs Sassypants” after their sassy Cha Cha Cha full of attitude last week. We’re pretty sure this Salsa will be just as full of sauce and spice and will suit this couple perfectly! We can’t wait to see Team Sassypants perform again this weekend!

Claudia and AJ will be performing the Waltz to You Light Up My Life by Whitney Houston.

Fact: Neither of these two were born when this song was originally released *feels very old* After last week’s acrobatic Cha Cha, we predict this will be an elegant waltz full of grace and poise! Together these two are such a great match and have good chemistry (as friends) so we think they’ll be able to pull off a beautiful and emotional waltz!

Daisy and Aljaz will be performing a Cha Cha Cha to Forget You by Cee Lo Green.

Last week, she danced an unforgettable waltz to Unforgettable. This week she’s dancing a Cha Cha Cha to Forget You. We spot a theme going on with the song. After a beautifully elegant waltz, it’ll be good to see Daisy let her hair down and perform a Cha Cha Cha. We predict this performance could be truly epic!

Danny and Oti are performing a Viennese Waltz to Never Tear Us Apart by INXS

Danny has the dance ability of a pro dancer. Oti’s choreography is amazing and we predict this Viennese Waltz will truly wow us. We cannot wait!

Ed and Katya will be performing the Charleston to the Banjo’s Back In Town.

Hands up if you’d never heard of this song before! 🙋🏻

Admittedly, we hadn’t either but it’ll make a great Charleston. Ed is working hard and doing his best. He has truly embraced Strictly by the glittery horns. His performances will always be the most eagerly anticipated of the week. We cannot wait to see this performance on Saturday. Team Glitterballs have my vote no matter what happens.

Greg and Natalie are performing the Tango to Jump by Van Halen!

Greg, the Long Jumper will have to jump in this performance. We’ve never heard this song used for a Tango before, but are sure that Natalie will choreograph an awesome routine which will impress us. For a tall man, Greg is very very light on his feet and has a focus that will suit the Tango’s character perfectly. We cannot wait to see this dance either!

Judge Rinder and Oksana are performing American Smooth to Marvin Gaye

Last week, the Judge surprised us with his ability and performance skill in the Cha Cha. This is a very interesting choice for an American Smooth and it’ll be great to see him in hold!

Laura and Giovanni are performing a Waltz to If I Ain’t Got You by Alicia Keys

If this dance doesn’t make your eyes leak there’s something wrong with you. Laura showed us great potential last week in the Cha Cha Cha and we predict she’ll be a real contender for the glitterball this year. We think GIovanni will be singing along in rehearsals 😘 and predict this will be a beautiful performance.

Lesley and Anton will be performing a Cha Cha Cha to Perhaps Perhaps Perhaps

We predict this will be a classy Cha Cha Cha which we cannot wait to see. Lesley has a lot of energy, so we think her Latin dances will be great!

Louise and Kevin will be performing a Viennese Waltz to Hallelujah

We’ve always wanted a dance to be performed to this, it’s one of our all-time favourite songs. Last week Louise spun around so fast in the jive we think the Viennese waltz will be no problem, especially with Kevin as her teacher. It may even top the leaderboard!

Melvin and Janette are performing the Tango to Moving on Up by M People

Another unusual but interesting song choice. We felt Melvin was undermarked last week, so think this song is appropriate as he can move up the leaderboard. With Janette as his teacher he’s in very good hands. Her choreography is always imaginative and original.  Can he perfect the aggressive Tango look? We think he can! His performance last week was awesome. We can’t wait to see his Tango face this week! 😠

Naga and Pasha are performing a Cha Cha Cha to A Fool In Love by Tina Turner

Naga admitted before dancing the waltz it was her least favourite dance. It is nerve wracking performing in front of a live audience, but Pasha is the perfect pro to calm her down. We think this dance will be cheeky and can’t wait to see it!

Ore and Joanne are performing a Cha Cha Cha to Hot Stuff by Donna Summer!

This guy can dance and Jo’s choreography is always imaginative, playing to her celebrity’s strengths. We predict it’ll be an awesome performance which may top the leaderboard!

Tameka and Gorka are performing the Charleston to Yes, Sir she’s my baby!

As an actress, Tameka is great at performing a character and we feel she’ll capture the spirit and character of the Charleston perfectly. We loved Gorka’s  Paso Doble choreography last week, so can’t wait to see his efforts with the Charleston this week!

Will and Karen will be Jiving to Rock Around the Clock

Will can dance and we think the Jive will be a great 2nd dance for him. He has one of the best teachers for Jive of the pros and from the looks of It Takes Two tonight, he has been working hard and sweating a lot  This can only be a good sign. We can’t wait to see him do a more cheery dance and think this will suit his happy character!

So there are our thoughts on the week 2 dances. Who can’t you wait to see take to the floor this week? Tweet us @scd_support or comment below to let us know. We look forward to hearing from you.

Cassie 🙂
